Ophelia had been working hard inside her office, silently bemoaning wasting a beautiful day inside, when her brother had handed her a cranky Pilot and then kicked her out telling her to go do something to cheer him up or he was going to become prematurely grey.
So with that she had taken off to the local park to see if an afternoon in the playground would put Pilot in a better mood.

Kerrigan was so much being kicked out with a small child as deciding on dragging said small child somewhere. Jezebel didn't exactly get along very well with Lucas and Chad, Kerigan's nephews, and needed someone to play with who was around her age anyway.
So off to the park they were, the little brunette bundled up in a fuzzy sweater and hat, and her guardian in a loose coat. The duo wandered around for a bit, most children avoiding some of the play equipment given how cold and messy it was. Jezebel looked around with a good bit of distaste - she'd much rather be inside where it was warm.

When they had arrived Ophelia had taken one look at the play equipment before promptly steering them for the sand pit. “What do you want to do honey?” She asked as Pilot just looked around serenely.
Giving her a serene smile Pilot merely reached into his pocket and pulled out his trusty screwdriver, a ball of copper wire and a small thing-a-ma-jig before starting to fiddle with them.
Resisting the urge to groan Ophelia looked around for something to grab Pilot’s attention, he could tinker at home – if they were going to be outside in the cold they were going to do something new and fun for both of them.

Kerrigan spotted another child farther along the way, near the sandbox, and nudged her daughter forward. "Go say hello." she prompted.
"Why? He looks odd." the brunette commented to her mother, looking irked, "He's fiddling with stuff."
"So? Go anyway. Maybe he'll stop fiddling with it." Kerrigan hissed back, nudging the child once more, "And be nice."
Jezebel pouted up at her mother once more before putting on a bright smile and skipping forward.
"Hi there!" she greeted Pilot and his mother, waving briefly, and smiling her best smile. "What'cha doin?"

Pilot blinked innocently at the girl that has walked over to him. She looked all pretty and dainty. Glancing down at the device he had been fiddling with he answered in his soft voice, “It’s a flux capacitor for the time machine I’m making. It doesn’t work so I must be going in the right direction.”, and then held it out for her to inspect.

Jeze looked at it and tried to hide her confusion. What on earth was a flux capacitor and how did it not working signify anything at all? Anything that was broken could be one then couldn't it?
"Looks nice." she commented with a smile, "Why're you building a time machine?"

Pilot gave the girl an amused looked at her question, to him it was obvious. “Well duh, it’s like toasty said, if you have a time machine then you’re practically untouchable – unless of course the bad guy also has a time machine or you create a paradox, that’s a really bad idea.” He answered in one breathe.
Ophelia watched as the other kid engaged Pilot in conversation for a minute before turning to towards the person that was probably her mother. “Hi, I’m Ophelia.” She said holding out her hand.

Jezebel did her best impression of not being annoyed by his statement, "Well why would you want to be untouchable and why are you doing things with bad guys anyway? That's weird." WEird weird boy, why did mommy make her talk to him.
Kerrigan smiled brightly at Ophelia and took her hand. "I'm Kerrigan. Nice to meet you."

Pilot gave a completely scandalized look at the girl, whose name he really should get. Spluttering he answered her, “Because if you’re not untouchable things can hurt you, and pains not fun! And there’s always a bad guy. Maybe not end of world bad but still a bad guy!”. Giving her a glare he stuffed the flux capacitor back into his pocket, he was too upset to work on it right now.
“Nice to meet you too.” She said with a smile before shacking Kerrigan’s hand. Glancing over at the kids she gave a wiry smile before saying, “Nice kid, they seem to be getting on.”. She deliberately left out how they were getting on.

Jezebel rolled her eyes, "Yes but if you're untouchable, you can't have nice things either." she pointed out, stomping a foot, "And if you're in the wrong time, how're you gonna get stuff? Are you gonna take your mommy too?"
Kerrigan nodded, looking at the two sourly. "Mm, something like that." she agreed.

Pilot just stared at blankly for a moment. And then another. And one more just to be certain about what he heard. Finally on figuring out that yes she did just say that he answered in a deadpan voice, “I don’t think untouchable means what you think it means. There’s no reason why you couldn’t have nice stuff if you’re untouchable. And of course Mom would come with me. I’m too young to do most stuff and I’m sure that’ll still be the same in the future.”
Looking at the sour look on Kerrigan’s face she gave a sympathetic hum before asking, “Yours doesn’t like going out either, huh?”

"If you can't be hurt, then you can't have nice stuff either." Jeze glared at him, stomping again as she pointed out. Stupid boy, he was saying things that were wrong with what he said before. "Anyway, how do you know you could get to the future? How do you know if the future will even be there or if the bad guys won't run everything in the future instead of being just bad guys here?"
Kerrigan nodded, "Not at all." she agreed, "And she doesn't get along with people."

Goggling Pilot practically shouted out his answer, “How can you be so stupid! You don’t need to be in danger to have nice stuff! There’s no logic to that! And it’s a well know fact that time doesn’t make sense and thus you must be able to find a future where everything goes ok!”. He wished for a second that it was ok to hit girls, but it wasn’t so he held his temper.
Ophelia gave a small laugh before replying, “I wouldn’t know he’s never talked to anyone but me, my brother and his toaster/blending machine hybrid-y thing.”

"You're the stupid one! If you mess with time, time gets messed up!" Jeze shouted, stomping back. "You're too dumb to make a good time machine anyway!"
Kerrigan rolled her eyes and facepalmed. "Merrrrrr, this is why my siblings are the parental types and I went and got a demanding job instead."

Pilots temper flared as she called him stupid. Taking deep breaths to try and contain his urge to scream he instead let out a mental one which caused his power to flare for moment destroying simple things in the area, like watches. “I am not! I’ll show you! I’ll build a time machine and then you’ll have to take back your words!” he said with a steely resolve in his voice. His pride wouldn’t let anyone question his abilities.
Wincing at Pilots tone and how her watch was now smocking slightly she gave a deep weary sigh. “I’m pretty sure I won’t be winning any mothering awards either. Though this isn’t too bad, Rivalry is form of friendship – right?” she said sounding vaguely hopeful at the end.
