So in FFXIV you can finally customize your character's skin color, eye color, hair color, hair style, eye, nose and mouth shape, waist and chest size, tattoos and scars and jewelry... pure awesomeness. Clothes will also be far more customizable by color and even texture. I plan to make my character look like me, I'm sure most people (If playing their appropriate gender) pick characters that resemble them a bit, but since it's a fantasy world, why not look your best right? lol! reminds me of that movie with Bruce Willis, The Surrogates when a huge fat guy was pretending to be the hot whore razz anyways, I also wanted to get your opinions on "street gear". you know, when you dress your character up in show off clothes or good looking/unique clothes when your not in battle. I heard FFXIV might open a money shop where you can buy FFXIV items with real life money. If they do this, I hope it's ONLY for street gear that looks great/cool/cute/pretty but the stats don't help you in battle. Whatcha think?

Some people (like Gaia) take the full on fantasy approach..
ehh I'm more like you though. I like to make my character look a little like me but hotter. xd /wishes for tan mithra skin
I always liked the pigtail Mithra so I hope they kept it soooo bad. >w< Although I could do without the multi-brow.

i know what you mean. Tho sometimes i make them look like me and others times i don't at all.
The cash shop thing would be cool. tho sometimes i don't like it when the clothes are just so different from the theme of the game and makes everything feel out of place. Like if the game is all medieval, i don't like it when people are walking around in modern clothes. it just seems wrong

I don't think clothing will be that broad of choices, same with body features. The site only mentions that skin tone, hair, and facial features will be customized. And even then I think its just a large amount of choices rather than sliders like in Aion. Also a Race's clan will probably determine some height selections.
In any case, my Elezen character will probably not look like me at all.

Unless I randomly grow cat ears, my character won't look much like me xD, but in a way you could prolly tell it's me by the character I make and the name she gets. Not to mention tribe and such
So yes and no.
Also, I hope they don't have a cash shop. I hate those! It really messes with the game for me. >> Though seeing as they didn't in FFXI, it seems unlikely that they will in this one.

I try to have similarities between me and my characters I create. Like hair color and style, height, and skin color. My avatar on gaia looks and dresses exactly how I dress. I like to think even in a Fantasy world I would look the same generally ^_^

HELL NO!!!! i hate the way i look, im ugly and no way and i going to make my poor character have to look like me.
that would just be inhuman... even for a video game...

IDK if I'm playing a Lalafell or an Elezen yet. We'll both be boys though XD Otherwise idk yet. I am happy to hear that character customization will be a lot better in FFXIV. There really wasn't much to choose from and go with in FFXI compared to other MMOs.

I'll either be a Hyur or a Roegadyn. It depends on what my brother chooses to play as, since we like to start out near each other and help each other in the harder quests.

cash shop might have potential in offering a alternate RMT community...
of course thats it they exploded in to a buy anything and everything shop... that might have a plus side, that you wouldnt be banned for a purchase, though i think it would kill fun factor ... for me atleast in haveing earned said items.. Though it might be nice to buy something you want that has a crappy drop rate or is over camped etc.. should such things be a issue.
as for the model of what my character would look like, it might be cool to design it to look like myself though, i agree it will most likely be a large group of prerender options you can combine together for a overall look, rather then a very individualistic slider ... though that would be awesome, for those of us that can make decent looking characters with sliders anyway lol... i do pretty well on games like oblivion and such... hmmm possibilities are endless for now atleast.

Usually I don't make it look like me unless I name my character as myself which happens rarely.
I usually match the name and look to the skills I will learn. (or want to learn) Like maybe putting hints of blue to someone who specializes in water or ice and the likes.

Heck no! I like for my characters to look like my oc not me. Which..is kinda what my avatar looks like. Long sliver hair, pale skin and greenish blue eyes. I'm not sure what race I'll choose yet. I can spend hours in the character customization just see what my character would look like in every race available. >.> Imma nerd.
