Humming as he went, Tu'de was determined to find his way back to the territory that he knew, he reminded himself as he stalked through the Savannah grasses, that he should really be trying harder to find his way back home. It had been a few days now, a hand full of days, a week... or more now.
Maybe.
Since he'd been chased away and gotten lost. A big pale lion had claimed that the leopard was hunting too close to the area -his- pride called home. De had tried to explain that he wasn't even hunting, he was just looking for a nice place to nap! The aggressive lion was having none of it though, and said he didn't like the look in the leopard eyes. Tu'de had grinned at that and gave a cheeky retort, he'd only been playing, and that was when the lion has chased him. Tu'de had ran, raced for his life, moving like a blue streak, he imagined that he'd beat his cheetah friend in a foot race, the speeds he was reaching! It was only delusion, of course, the lion had not chased him far at all but De had just kept running for as long as he could, and so he'd ended up lost, and so here he was, searching out home, and getting distracted with every step.
As he went along, his eyes were down, the morning light from the rising sun was warming the land and the grasses, moisture that had settled during the night was sparkling now. Tu'de had never really had a keen interest in plants or anything like that, he didn't know the difference between grass and the more interesting flora. Sure, as a cub he'd tried eating grasses, he's seen the other animals do it and grasses didn't go anywhere, really, so of course there was no need to run around and catch them, easy dinner, right? It didn't end the way the little leopard had intended it and he'd had a sick belly. Not that he remembered that time today, it had been many, many seasons since he was a cub, not that that stopped Tu'de from acting silly.
A particularly interesting bit of greenery caught his attention and he loomed over it with a wide open maw, just about to snap it up in his teeth, the dark green leaves just looked so inviting!

The goddess Valetudo'sero was wandering the grasslands. So as not to draw attention to herself she used a power that all gods had, one of illusion, and turned herself invisible. Granted the grasses still moved when she walked but most mortals explain it by blaming the wind not the passing of a god.
She was bored with a capital B. Val had always had to act like an adult and now that she was an actual adult it was frowned upon acting like a cub but Val desperately needed to do something different. She understood that she was a goddess with responsibility, she understood that sometimes mortal lives hung in the balance when her mixes and solutions were called upon, she understood this but she wished that this was not always the case. Why must she act like she knows what she is doing at all times, why cant she act like a cub once more even if it was for a short time?
She was paying no attention to where she was going when she came upon a leopard about to eat a plant. Grass was not necessarily a bad thing for felines to eat since it allowed them to inducing regurgitation of undigested matter like fur. Val was about to pass him by when something made her look a bit closer at what the leopard was about to eat.
Shocked by what he was about to do she quickly became visible, her wings still hidden though, and said in a harsh voice, "Are you stupid or do you just have a death wish?"

Tu'de stopped short on his forward lunge, his jaw close on empty air and the tip of his tongue, he stumbled and tripped over his own front feet, falling to his knees, and then rolling to one side, the plant he had been about to uproot swayed gently in the morning breeze, untouched.
De had not noticed anyone else around, so the voice out of nowhere had nearly startled him out of his spotted skin. He looked around, seeing the lioness now, he didn't realize that she had just manifested herself from thin air.
"Er... 'M not, either." His ears went back as he looked her over, his first thought was she reminded him of a stern mother, and then that she looked like a young growing thing herself. Tu'de smiled and stood, he was cautious, this would be the time that she'd tell him off for being in her territory and he'd have to be on his way again. Didn't anyone on the Savannah think about anything else besides that?
"I didn't mean no offense, being in your territory or nothing, I mean it, 'M just lost 'n all. I'll be on my way after something fresh, that's all~" His dark eyes swept the grasses again and he moved towards the interesting plant once more.

Val did her best to suppress a giggle when the leopard was startled by her sudden appearance but a small one escaped before she was able to put back on her stern goddess look, which unknown to her really looked like a scolding mother.
She smiled lightly, show that she was not as old as she acted, when the male said that he didn't mean to be in her territory. "You arn't, I'm just a wanderer." She didnt know what to say when he said that he was lost but when he moved to the plant again she knew that she had to intervene.
Sighing she quickly passed him and stood directly over the plant. Its green leaves moved slightly and brushed up against the leather protectors she wore on her front legs. "I was not joking when I said you have a death wish if you eat this. It is great for reducing infection but if it is ingested it can be quite deadly."
Not knowing what else to do, most others heeded her warnings the first time, Val reached out with one front paw and braced it against the leopard's shoulder. She wasn't going to hurt him she just wanted to stop him long enough for what she said to sink in but as she stood there a gust of wind seemed to come out of no where and pushed her forward. The day had been quite windy but Val had paid no attention to it before and now as she was stumbling towards the male she couldn't help squeak in surprise and she went tumbling forward. Directly into the path of the leopard and if he wasn't quick enough he might just go down with her.

It took a bit for him to understand, if this wasn't her territory why did she care what he was doing, he had usually only gotten death threats for lingering too long where he shouldn't be. Even when she moved into his path and stood over the offending plant, he was still puzzling the connection, "Oh~ Oh!" His thoughts were dawning like the day, bright clarity behind his dark eyes, but he wasn't paying much attention to anything else as he was thinking so hard. With the lioness looming over him, he didn't even attempt to move as the wind caught her by surprise causing her to tumble into him.
They both went down in a heap, Tu'de flailed a little, his 'or flight' instincts kicking in at high gear, adrenaline coursing his system. Usually he wouldn't let a lion so close to him, but, "You saved m'life!" The thought connected with his mouth at last and even though they had just taken a tumble and were still flat on the ground he was a step behind. The exclamation rang with the truest of tone from the leopard, that didn't happen everyday!
He struggled a little to pull away and stand again, he was alright, his body long used to taking damage and functioning anyway, the skinny male was a fluke of nature, somehow managing to make it through each day with all his limbs intact. "Eh, oh, are ye a'right?" He'd shaken himself and stood to one side of the deep green lioness, shifting in place, mildly worried, he wanting to help her up and gave her an unsure nudge, hoping she hadn't hurt herself. He felt since she's saved his life that he should do anything to help her, it was decided in a instant.

As Val sat there, sprawled on the ground she couldn't help but find this situation funny. Here she was, a goddess, sprawled on the ground, her deep green coat dusted with dirt after a large gust of wind pushed her over balanced body, the male she tried to help finally got it after what seemed like years, and now it seemed like he thought she was hurt. She was doing her best to smother the laughter that seemed to bubble up out of nowhere and was doing a pretty good job of it when a childlike thought jumped into her mind.
Throwing all cation to the wind she decided to use the thought to play a prank on the leopard. She remained on the ground not moving or saying anything, doing her best to suppress the giggles that just didn't want to stop. She waited quietly as he stood unsure of what to do, she giggled silently when he shifted nervously, and when he finally nudged her she sprung into action.
She stat up suddenly and said quite clearly, "BOO!" then flopped back down on the ground laughing her head off. For the first time in many years she was acting like a cub again and she liked it. Acting like an adult can just be put aside for a few moments or even the day, Val decided that for once she was going to do what she wanted to not what was expected of her.

Tu'de lept a good yard into the air and gave a yelp of surprise at the sudden 'boo'. His fuzzy hair sticking out more spikily than it usually did, his tail a bottle brush of stiff blue fur, eyes wide with an automatic fear reaction. He landed a few yards back and sat heavily, panting and staring at her, his confusion melting away into chuckles, the small laugh gaining strength and he shut his eyes as their mingling mirth rang in the air.
After finding his wits again, they'd been scattered about, and calming his laughter Tu'de stood again and with only a little self prodding took the steps that would bring him to the lionesses side once again. "Yer nuts," he chuckled again, just a little bit. "not tha' I mind or anyfing. I'm Tu'de," he gave her a lopsided but charming smile, "uh, my full name's longer'n that, bot I like it shortened best. Tumo'dembe's such a mouf'ful, hey?"

Val's laughter increased until she was almost gasping when she watched the leopard's reaction to her little joke. A small little voice was complaining about how its not nice to scare mortals and how the male might be mad but it quieted when the leopard joined in Val's mirth.
Val's laughter slowly calmed down till it was only an occasional muffled giggle. When the male said that she was nuts Val could only smile and chuckle lightly, it was true for the first time in her long life she acted like a cub and she loved it even if it made her nuts. When the leopard said his name all Val could think of was 'Too D Fruity', something she picked up from some where or some time that she couldn't even remember. This thought prompted her to snicker yet again, doing her best to muffle her laughter.
Speaking around the occasional giggle she introduced herself as well, "Tumo'dmbe is a mouthful but then again so is Valetudo." she purposefully droped the 'sero from the end of her name hoping that this leopard wouldn't recognize her name as that of the herb lore goddess, Valetudo'sero. "That is why I go by Val myself."
She giggled again and couldn't help but ask, "So did you have a great trip, I heard the fall was fantastic." Her joke was quite lame and didn't even make all that much sense in the second half but it still amused Val.

"Val, Valetudo." Tu'de smiled as he tried out her name, it wasn't so bad, he decided he rather liked it, even if it was a little long like his own. De didn't keep track of the deities of the land, to know her domain by her name, he knew they existed, but he preferred to believe that karma worked better than more gods than anyone could rightfully keep track of, for keeping balance. Boy, would he be surprised.
Tu'de chuckled further at her continuing joke, he didn't think it lame, but he wasn't quick with a comeback for it either, "Heh, yea th' most fun I've had in... a while." That's why he didn't mind her silliness, Tu'de loved to have fun, all of his free time, and sometimes when he should be doing other things, he let himself be distracted by his on going search for fun things to do. Being scared was also fun, when you knew you weren't really in any danger, Tu'de would never go out of his way to do things that were scary, he worried too much about his own skin for that, but sometimes it wasn't a bad thing, it sure got the heart pumping anyway.
"The bigger they ain't, the harder they are!" He declared, getting the phrase completely wrong. He gave a little playful hop, as if he was going to pounce on her, though he was only aiming for her tail end, not wanting her to be offended, she could easily over power him, and out run him! Maybe. The leopard male was still enjoying the delusion that he was a much faster runner than he really was.

Val rolled over on her back and was pawing at the clouds like a cub, still listening to the leopard. She sighed and lowered her paws when he said that it was the most fun he had had in a while, "Yeah I know that feeling." she knew that feeling all to well. Shaking off her unhappiness she went back to pawing at the clouds. It wasn't until he said something else that she rolled back over and sat up.
It took her a moment or two to figure out what he was saying and when she did her entire face lit up. She didn't correct him, just said, "Yup that always seems to be the case." When De started to play 'pounce' with her tail she got another idea. She waited until he 'pounced' on her tail then she pulled it out from between his paws. Once her tail was free she turned the tables on him and pounced on his tail, smiling all the while.

Tu'de had landed squarely on the dark green fluffy tip of her tail and was inwardly proud, he hadn't missed, when it was yanked away he frowned a little bit, and glanced up at Val, hoping that she hadn't minded. De over reacted again, when he saw the lioness moving to pounce on him, his fur sticking out all over in that fear reaction and he fell to his belly on the spot, eyes shut tight. When only his tail was caught under her large paws, he peeked back and saw her smiling and idea stuck him. De twisted and pulled his tail away, continued turning and lightly, claws in of course, tapped Val on the nose.
"Yer it!" He declared, smirking, his mirth heard in his voice, clear on his face and even twinkling in his dark eyes, and then he bolted away, his deep blue tail waving at her as he went, after a dozen yards or so he glanced back, wondering if lionesses were fond of 'tag'.

At first Val was surprised, 'pounce' is a fun game as well but when De declared that she was 'it' she smiled and raced after him. He was fast but so was she so for the most part she was just behind him, just out of reach until he glanced back.
Seeing the smile and enjoyment on his face Val put on a extra burst of speed until she was right next to him. Not wanting to over balance her self yet again like she did earlier she leaned over and gave him a quick lick on the side of his muzzle before darting out of range. "Tag your it." she giggled as she did a little dance before racing off slowly.
She hadn't realized that her 'tag' could be taken any other way other then a tag because she did not remember much of her past lives and love never seemed to factor into what she did remember. What she did remember were more like places and plants.

As he ran, when he looked back to see where she was and saw her right on his tail he gave a little leap trying to pull ahead, it seemed she was determined to tag him though, as she also sped up and came up right along side, he glanced back again then, looking to see where she was, and didn't see her, for she was on the other side, so when he turned his face forward again she caught him by surprise yet again, tagging his face with a lick.
It seemed he was getting used to her, as this time he wasn't fluffing in fear at her closeness, not that she stayed close anyway. De had kept running and had to skid to a halt, turn, before he could resume the game. Her dance gave him time to get his speed back up, this wasn't a race for his life, but he would give catching her his all, games were best that way weren't they?
De hadn't found anything else in her tag, he'd had brushes in the past with affectionate females, he never quite 'got it' though, why they were nice, he liked it much better of course, when they were, as opposed to the ones that wanted a piece of his hide as a chew toy, detached from his body.
With a laugh he lept after her, covering great lengths of grassland with every stride, stumbling only a little now and then, being clumsy on his feet, regardless of how much fun he was having.

Val was surprised that he seemed to have such a great store of energy so kept up her fast jog knowing that her lead was slowly shrinking. She was saving up her energy for a burst of speed that would take her out of his reach so she wouldn't become 'it' too fast.
She looked back over her shoulder and saw De slowly catching up, stumbling now and then. Her laugh rang out over the savanna as she arched back around so she was pacing him but a distance away so it would be no easy tag for him. She was truly having fun with this male and couldn't wait to see what he would do next.

De was quickly losing his speed and stamina, he hadn't paced himself at all for a long game, so using up every bit of strength his specie gave him, he lept through the air, aiming to pounce the lioness, or at least as close to her as possible, still remembering not to risk angering her, he kept his claws in, he was still wary for her retaliation on own skin.
Whether he actually caught her or not he gave up just about then and there, trotting on a little further if he missed before stopping, or if he did manage to tag her in his final attempt, grinning and then sitting down suddenly on his rump.
"To be, a cub again, hey?" He laughed lightly, panting hard and flopping over onto one side, "I fink, I'll leave th' games like tha', to them." He gave another weak laugh and sighed settling on the damp grasses, he stretched his paws, moving them through the thin plant life, his dark eyes gone half closed and his mind gone blank for the moment as he slowly caught his breath. De's lips quirked in a smile, the sound of the wind rushing through the grasses sounded like soft singing to him.
