Arcades. At the mall. Perfect place for stealing quarters and having some free entertainment. And the perfect place for a certain pink-haired greed spawn to lurk. Especially one who found the first person shooter games and the racing ones to be insanely good fun.
It wasn't that he hadn't tested out the others... He just couldn't get into them and DDR... Yeah, he didn't want to think about it. Wings were a big no-no in that game. Aenira didn't have much trouble with it at home and she was basically two years old! Granted, they had to buy an actual arcade mat so she could play and not tear the entire thing up after one game, but it was worth it if she could tire herself out and not irritate them.
Cody was barely paying attention to those going in and out of the malls arcade center, too engrossed with the game in front of him. Every time the game prompted him to insert a quarter, he gently nudged open the coin case, stole a few quarters, and slid them back through the slot. Hey, it worked and no one had busted him yet so why the hell would he care?

The mall: yet another crowded place meant just as much for socializing as it was for actually purchasing material means. It was, of course, yet another place his mother loved and adored. Anywhere with a crowd was where Celi wanted to be though. His mother nudged him gently with a tender loving hand, "Honey, why don't you go play a game? Mommy can give you some quarters and you can play with the other kids." she said, asking him to hold out his hands so she could place a few quarters in them. "Mother-" the spawn was cut off, though not intentionally, Celi just didn't always realize what she did, "Mommy will be right over here keeping an eye on you. I'll look over sometimes, but you'll still have your privacy." That was what kids wanted, right? Privacy?
The young spawn sighed and walked into the room, though the slightly dreary mood was suddenly lifted with the mass of bright lights and colors. Everything was flashing and beeping and buzzing and it was practically an excitement overload for the young boy. His eyes were practically popping out of his head as he walked over, practically in a trance and stood behind a much older boy, his optics fixed on the shooting game as his mouth was wide open in astonishment.

The words 'Game Over' flashed onto the screen yet again, plus a timer for him to start the next game. Cody could already feel a headache starting from staring at the screen for so long. As he moved to grab some more quarters, he froze as his eyes fell upon a kid standing right behind him.
"Uh... Can I help you?" he asked, frowning slightly and ruffling his wings irritably. He hadn't a clue whose kid it was, which meant he couldn't exactly raid the machine for more money quite yet. At least the game had a long timer, or he'd be hella pissed. It took him two HOURS to get to where he was!
"Or are you waiting to play the game?"

Pippin merely stared for a moment longer before realizing it was him that the older boy was addressing, "Huh? Oh! No, I don't think I'd be good at that, but you should play more!" he said, nodding his head quickly, wanting the boy to hurry so he could see all of the action again. It was entrancing, amazing even.
Reaching into his pocked he could hear the jingle, and pulling out a few quarters he handed them to the boy with feathers in his hair "Here! Play! I wanna watch!" he said, extending his hand to the other and waiting for him to take them. The game was so cool, and Pippin knew that he himself probably couldn't play it and make it look cool, so it was best for the other to just take his place and continue.

Cody stared at the quarters for a moment, transfixed by the smooth, silvery surface for the briefest of moments. Sure, it would be easy to take the quarters and continue playing, but the kid wasn't exactly the type he'd take money from. Shaking his head, a pale hand slipped down, quickly flipped open the coin hatch, grabbed a few quarters and slipped them through the slot once more. The timer stopped with roughly ten seconds remaining, restarting at three to countdown the seconds till the game would start again.
"There's a chair there if you want to get a better view. Where's your guardian, anyways? Little young to be here by yourself," the greed spawn commented, pointing to a chair that was chained to the game with the bright red plastic gun. He finally noticed the odd coloration of skin and the huge earwings on the sides of his head as his eyes slid back to the game. Peh, probably another spawn from the facility. Guess they were still pumping out children, judging by how young he was.

Pippin nodded, placing the shiny silver coins carefully back into his pocket, allowing them to jingle with all the rest. When the other mentioned a chair sitting did sound nice, but he was almost hesitant that he would miss something. Seeing the numbers he quickly ran over to the chair, dragging it as far as he could before sitting down and plopping himself neatly in it, his eyes once more fixated on the screen.
As his pupils moved with the characters and loading screen the young spawn answered the other, "Mother is over there." he said, pointing a claw at the curvy woman with long blond hair. "She said she's look over at me sometimes, but that I needed to have some alone time to play with other kids too." he explained, though he felt quite foolish after doing so. This kid, obviously another spawn, was far too cool to care about what his mother had said. Obviously he was cool, look at the game he was playing!
"M-my name is Pippin." he said, a little more shy now after realizing that this kid was so far above him on the coolness scale. He sort of felt like a fool, he couldn't even play neat games, only watch.

"Ah... I'm Cody. If you want to play, you can. Just want to get above the high score..." Cody muttered, shooting at the various beings that popped up with targets on them. Did he bother considering the side-effects to exposing the kid to violence at a young age? Yes. Did he care? Not exactly, seeing as his mother was either foolish enough, or secure enough to leave her child in a crowded place.
"Your mom's a brave one. Mine never let me out of her sight until a few months ago," he continued with a scowl, also know why she would do such a thing. He had a habit of taking things and throwing fits when they were taken back. Even now he fought back when the item he took fairly was forced to be returned.
"By the way, where you from?" he continued, barely noticing the shyness creep into Pippin's voice. Probably part humilty if he was indeed from the Facility. The other half he wasn't entirely sure of...

"No, it's okay. I wouldn't be any good anyways." he said quietly. The boy was slightly jealous, this older one was so cool and collected, he didn't seem to follow by anyone's rules or anything! Though Pip was a little confused as to why the boy was being nice to him. Nonetheless the game was still entrancing, and young Pip's eyes were glued to the screen even as he acknowledged the other in conversation.
"Mother just knows I won't do anything." he explained, nodding gently. "Ooh! Ooh! Get him!" the spawn clenched his seat, that was a close one, but Cody managed to pull through just fine. To answer the boy's question he spoke up a bit, "Mother called it the facility once. That's where I'm from. A lot of other kids too I think. Are you from there?" Pip had assumed because of the other's strange features, and was pretty confident in his prediction.

"Heh, my mom would be worried we would never be allowed in the building again. Got kicked out of a museum for stealing something," Cody commented, shooting at the guy and catching him right in the nick of time. "And thanks, didn't see him. You say you wouldn't be good, but you've got a pretty good eye," the spawn complimented, more out of good-sport than anything else.
He paused and glanced at Pippin, curious. "Yeah. What, pink hair with feathers and giant wings weren't enough? And I'm just teasing, by the way," Cody continued, realizing he was on the last level after looking over the screen. Oh boy, this was going to be a doozy.

That certainly got the boy's attention away from the screen, his head quickly turning in disbelief to the other, "Wow, you stole something!? It wasn't that the younger spawn necessarily thought that part was cool, just that... wow, he did it. He had never met anyone who had stolen before, it was odd. This disbelief quickly was turned into a large, beaming grin, "Really? Ya think?" Maybe someday he would play too, and he would be as good as Cody! That would be so cool, he'd be so cool!
Pippin had pouted slightly at the teasing, not that the other could see since he was playing, "Well, ya never know... he said, a bit quieter but still loud enough, turning back to the screen. "Wow! You're gonna win I think!"

"Yeah. I'm part greed, kinda in my nature to do so. Friend wanted something, so I tried to get it. Guards caught me later," Cody replied, frowning as he focused in on the game. A few moments later, the boss monster exploded and the winning title screen popped up, as well as the ability to enter his name for the high score.
"And that's how you play. Your turn, and don't worry about paying. I've got a fool-proof way of having unlimited time," he continued, entering in his name and allowing the screen to go back to it's usual alternating one of playing random demo scenes and the insert tokens one.

Pippin smiled, "Good job!" he said, congratulating the other spawn in his winning. He really was good at this game! The younger spawn had to admit he was quite impressed, though it obviously showed. When Cody told him it was his turn he froze for a moment.
"Uh, I'm okay..." he said, looking at the floor as if it were something dreadfully interesting. "I wouldn't be as good as you anyways." he added. The little boy didn't want to look like a fool in front of the other. He was so good, and Pip was pretty sure he would be quite the opposite. He just wasn't cool enough and didn't have enough confidence to play in front of the older one.

Cody shook his head. "I wasn't good at first either. Takes practice. Sides, need something else to do. Unless you wish to try a new game with me?" he questioned, bending down and acting like he was tying his shoe. Of course, while he was "tying" his shoe, handfuls of quarters were quickly being shoved into his pocket and nearly cleared out the entire game. Hey, this game just happened to have a simple key lock holding it shut while the others needed far more complicated, and small, keys to open.
Might as well take what he could until he found another game to hack, right? "There's DDR, other shooting games, pacman, some racing games... uhm..." Wow, there were a lot of games, wasn't there? Ah, whatever, something had to catch the little boy's interest right?

"I never heard of those." he said, feeling a bit lame for his lack of gamer knowledge. He sighed a bit, he would probably never be as cool as Cody. Oh well, at least he even got to be in the presence of someone so cool, that was nice at least.
After a moment of though he tilted his head to one side, obviously in though. "What is Dee Dee Arr?" the young boy asked, confused by the abbreviations of the title. He wasn't experienced with any of this stuff, and hadn't even ever heard of the game but thought it had kind of a funny name. And Cody was probably real real good at it too and it would probably be super fun to watch, just like the last game he had played was!

Cody grinned. "I haven't either. DDR is Dance Dance Revolution. Here, we can try that game out. Pretty sure you'll beat me at it. No hand-feet coordination," he commented, scowling at that. Heh, he could barely do beginner without falling on his a**. Guess being greed and patience meant no balance...
Cody glanced around the arcade for a moment, trying to remember where exactly where he had seen the game. After a few seconds of searching and getting used to the dimmer lighting, the spawn beckoned for Pippin to follow him as he made his way to the game platform in the corner. "Here it is. You see the arrows on the bottom? You step on them as they get to the arrows at the top of the screen," he explained, popping in the various quarters the machine needed in order for the two of them to play.
"Oh, and the object of the game is to get them so they're perfectly lined up. Being slightly off is alright. Goes along in the beat of the music," he added, moving onto the platform as the game started up.
"You can choose the music. I'm not picky."
