What better place to take a seven of seven spawn to socialize when they are young than a playground? After all children are children no mater what their genes are. Green fields, sandy cover play areas, jungle gyms, swings, slides, and kid powered merry go rounds. Everything one would need for a child to be active and adventure.
The weather was perfect and sunny with a cool mild winter breeze. Prefect for playing.

It really was a nice sunny day to get out and play. As much as Dooma had never thought she would take a child to a park here she was siting back and watching her young seven of seven spawn playing on a play ground. There were all sorts of children playing so luckily Vali was not getting too many stares. Besides even if he had had the play ground to himself, growing children need to get outside from time to time and 'run free.'
For a child of sloth Vali was actually very active. He hardly slept and it seemed he only ate for the fun of it. But this heavy little toddler was enjoying his first trip to the park. Even if many of the other children around avoided him he hand climbed up a rope net and was now sitting at the top of a tower looking around the playground pretending to be a king or a knight in search of someone who needed to be rescued.

Poor young Pippin still wasn't quite sure why his mother had brought him here. He had been sitting in his room, looking through a picture book at the vibrant pages when Celi had swept him away from his fantasy, telling him they were 'going somewhere fun'.
Currently, the young boy sat on the edge of the playground, twiddling his thumbs as he looked at his hands. He could hear the other children playing and looked up occasionally, but had been so far choosing to stay out of the rush, much to the disappointment of his mother watching from the sidelines. 'Why isn't he playing? Isn't that bad? Why isn't he socializing!?' she wondered to herself, hoping it wasn't her fault he was so quiet and shy.
Young Pippin looked up once more, seeing one child that seemed to stick out from the others, much like he himself normally did. However, still being shy he chose to hide quickly behind his earwings, allowing them to shield his eyes for a moment.

Vali when he was up and wanting to play he came out as a very social creature. Much to Dooma's disappointment. She much rather stay at home from the crowds. But the spawn being so young was currently just wanting to learn all he could about the world around him. As he looked around with his hands cupped around his hair covered eyes he scanned. His silver body glinted in the sunlight but a flash of silver caught his attention. A beautiful pair of wings covered over the form of another spawn. He smiled brightly his sharp fangs giving him a shark like look. Those wings must belong to a princess...she was all alone trapped across the ocean of sand that covered the playground.
Vali had made up his mind he was going to save the 'princess' from her lonely exile and imprisonment at the other end of the playground! He moved to slide down the slide his thick metal hair shifting back over his eyes as he started down the slide. But he came to a sudden painful stop as his long tail latched onto one of the bars, protecting kids from falling off the high tower. "Ow....let go...we have someone to save!" he told his tail and he thought hard trying to get the tail he was still learning to use to let go.
It did not take long for his tail to let go and he hurried over to the 'princess'. "I have come to save you!" he said proudly as he stood in front of the wall of feathers.

A lone eyebrow raised as Pippin poked one single eye from his wings, taking a quick peek to try and settle this confusion. "Princess?" he whispered quietly, almost daintily removing his wings from his face as he asked the other spawn, "Where?". Surely the other wasn't speaking of him, he was a boy after all!
"I don't see a princess anywhere..." he said after a quick look around of inspection. Sure enough, no princesses that he could see. Maybe the boy was mistaken, he had to be.
After the thought another occurred to the youngster... who was this boy? "Excuse me, I don't think I know you..." he said rather shyly, his ears beginning to frame his face again but he pushed them away. He thought, his mother would probably like him to talk to the other kids. Even though that socializing wasn't his favorite thing, he could never think of the 'proper' things to say, he figured he'd give it a shot, just to please his mother. "My name is Pippin..."

Vali smiled brightly his sharp fangs glinting in the sun light. They were the same silver coloration as his skin. "Oh did I saw that out loud? Well you looked like a princess from afar....okay how bout this....you be my princess for now....Pippin and I Vali will be your knight...then I will be your princess and you can save me!" He reached out one of his silver hands and took ahold of the other's wrist. His grip, though his skin was cold and hard to the touch, was gentle. "Come on lets play." he pulled on the other lightly as if he as afraid to break the princess though as he tried to move his tail zipped in front of him causing Vali to fall face first into the sand.
Luckily as he fell he let go of Pippin's hand. He slowly moved to sit up and stole a glance over to see if Dooma was watching. But seeing her not looking he knew he should not cry if he was a knight so he turned to face Pippin and smiled his eyes always covered but his thick silver hair. He reached a hand up to brush the sand off of his face. "Sorry I am not use to my tail."

If Pippin had said he wasn't confused he would have been surely lying. Weren't boys supposed to be princes? That's what all of the stories he had heard said. Of course, he could be wrong, that was for sure. He wasn't always right after all, though he was very intelligent. After a moment of thought though he began to wonder about how he needed saving. This pondering was quickly interrupted by a faced plant, which for a moment the boy nearly watched before frowning, "You okay?" he asked, with a light pause for time to reply before continuing, "My wings don't do that, but sometimes I get caught in doors!" he said in an attempt to make the other feel better.
The boy giggled slightly, a small grin spreading across his lips, "So, what does the princess who needs saving do anyways? he asked, quite unfamiliar with the role of such a character. Normally his mother dragged him away from the story to go on some 'adventure' before he could get to the part that had the princess in it.
"I know what the night does, but I don't usually make it to the princess because of mother. She always wants me to get out of the house." he said with a small sigh, explaining his situation before once again listening intently as this role of 'princess' was going to be explained. He hoped it wasn't too hard, especially since he already wasn't that used to playing with other children.

Vali smiles and stands up. "Yes I am fine. Ouch that must hurt can you feel it when your wings if they get hurt?" He never knew anyone with wings before. Well there was one guy who had wings on his arms but he never knew anyone with wings coming out of their heads. And it was hard not to reach out and play with them. But he was distracted from his musing about the princess question.
"Well lets see well normally the princess is caught in a tower or by some bad guy and then the knight goes to save her. But sometimes when the knight gets there the princess can help too.." he looked thought full...well as thoughtful as someone who's eyes were always covered could look. "There was once a princess in a story Dooma read to me...where the knight got trapped and the princess had to go and help free him...we could do that....I can save you and then you could help me save you and then we can both be like knights!"
He gave his big toothy grin and held out his hand. "Come on I can be the bad guy first and we and 'lock you away'."

"Yeah, I can feel 'em. It's okay though, I don't usually get stuck that hard for very long." He replied quickly before smiling and nodding, obviously satisfied with the other spawn's idea. He didn't often play with other children, so this was a rather exciting moment. He just hoped his mother would be peeking over to see him playing, and then maybe she would be happy that he was talking to other children. "Okay, you can save me first. As long as I get to be the princess!" he said with an excited tone. Obviously the young boy still didn't quite understand the whole 'princess' concept. He probably wouldn't for awhile, and seemed rather fond of the term for the moment.
Pippin stood up, brushing his pants off and stretching before he spoke once more, "Okay, so, I'll go up there," he pointed a claw to the highest point of the playground, "And I'll be the princess and you can be my night and come and rescue me!" he said, beaming now. Maybe this whole playing with other kids thing wasn't so bad after all, it was kind of fun. "Okay, I'll go now!" he said, running over the expanse to the large plastic playground that would serve as his 'prison' until he was rescued. He climbed a small ladder, walked up a few steps until he was at the top, grinning and waiting.

"Oh thats good that you can feel them. But not feeling them would help when they got caught in a door." He laughed softly. He was so happy that someone was going to play with him. And even more happy that he found something to be the princess.
"You got it you can be the princess! I think you would make a good one!" He smiles brightly and his tail swayed. He then nods, "Yup you will good up there..." he watched as Pippin ran off before he would play the bad guy and lock the princess up. He smiled though glad that Pippin was so very eager. He laughed warmly and moved towards the bottom of the tower and looked up. "Oh Princess Pippin I, Knight Vali have traveled from far far away to save you please show me a sign that I have found the right cursed tower that holds you!" He called up as he bowed to the tower.

The boy had smiled an nodded before running up the playground equipment, "Yeah, but it's okay, because sometimes they get tickled and it makes me laugh." At the top of the 'tower' Pippin was locked away. He pretended to cry for a moment, before getting an expression of pure boredom. This, of course, was all an act as well. After all, if you were a princess trapped up in a tower wouldn't you be bored? Yawning the boy's earwings perked up as soon as he heard a voice calling to him, "Oh Knight Vali! I am Princess Pippin! You have found the correct tower! Please come save me!" he paused for a moment, "I'm so bored!" he added in just for dramatic effect. He couldn't think of anything worse than that, so this tower really had to have cursed the princess.
Pippin leaned his weight on the railing of the playground, resting his head gently on his hands as he let out a slight sigh, waving down to his knight as he waited to be rescued. Although the boy probably seemed bored, he was actually quite entertained. This was fun, playing with Vali. He liked Vali a lot, he was nice. He even let Pippin play the princess!

Vali watched from under his hair and smiled his tail swaying as he watched Pippin act like a princess. He never thought how bored they must be always trapped like that. This other spawn was really smart. Though he had to admit that the thought of tickling the wings struck the metal male as fun. He would have to save that for when he rescued the 'princess'. He laughed warmly and gives a wave. "Yes my princess I shall hurry to your side and free you from the tower and from your boredom!"
He ran over to the nets to climb up them. He started to climb and spoke his words to help Pippin enjoy it more. "I shall climb up these vine...if I fall I shall fall into the mouths of hungry alligators and sea monsters!" He looked up at Pippin, "Oh princess please keep a look out for any monsters coming to stop me from saving you!"
Dooma looked up from where she sat to Vali's calling. Princess? Was the little spawn playing with a girl? She scanned the playground and saw at the top of one of the towers a pair of bright sliver wings. "Well well...looks like he found himself a little friend."

The young spawn's eyes were wide with excitement, Vali was going to have to go through so much to rescue him! It was okay though, he believed in Vali. After all, he was a knight and everything! That in itself was really impressive. "Oh please! The boredom is so... er... boring." he said, drawing a blank for a moment but quickly regaining his role when the silver haired one began to climb up the 'vines'.
"Oh no! Behind you!" he exclaimed, gesturing to behind Vali. There were some little kids who were climbing the ropes behind him, "Those must be the alligators coming to get you!!" he shouted. After a moment of thought though the youngster put a careful hand to his chin in thought, "Do alligators climb?" he wondered aloud before snapping quickly back to the situation. "Oh yeah, Vali! You can do it!" the boy cheered. Thankfully he didn't get too sidetracked.
Celi smiled, seeing her boy playing with another child, especially a spawn, filled her heart with joy. Maybe he had made a friend! Ooh joy they could come over to the house and have playdates! Celi's mind was bursting with ideas, "A sleepover!" she squealed aloud, unable to contain the excitement though nobody was paying much attention to her.

Vali laughed at the fumble in finding a word and then he turned to see the 'alligator' climbing up after him. "Oh not they must be magic ones!" He started to climb fast to make sure the kid did not get him. He was tempted to push the kid off but he knew that the boy below him was not a real alligator. When he got up onto the first level he smiles up at Pippin, "I am at your service my princess I shall let nothing come between me and shaving you form the evil boredom!"
He moved over towards the bridge. This was way too fun. He was enjoying this game so much, he never thought being with another of his kind could be so enjoyable. It was better than looking at stories or playing with toys alone. He stopped at the edge of the bridge. "OH no....it is the bridge of doom...If I step on the wrong plank I will fall to my death!" He set his lips and looked at the bridge. There had to be a secret to crossing it. "Princess...it is said that only one who is the greatest of all princesses knows the secret to passing the bridge! Princess Pippin lend me your favor by telling me out to cross the bridge of doom!"

Pippin giggled when Vali finally reached him, "Wow! I've never had my own knight before!" he smiled, whirling around to see Vali before running off with him towards the bridge. When Vali stopped he did too, listening intently to his words and taking in every last detail. After a moments thought and a smile at thinking that he was the greatest of all princesses he spoke, "Every other board will make you fall into the hot lava!" he exclaimed, stepping near the Bridge of Doom and placing one careful foot on the very first board, "This one is safe! Go ahead Vali!"
The spawn was quite confident in this idea. Maybe because he knew he was the best princess ever and was therefore right, that had to be it. Pip took a step back so that Vali could proceed across the bridge since he now knew the safe way to do so. "Just be careful! I don't want a friend covered in lava you know! A friend... he had a friend! Or at least he hoped he did. He hoped Vali agreed, but maybe he wasn't cool enough to be Vali's friend... Oh well, he'd just have to wait and find out, right? Right.
