It was a rare occurrence whenever she managed to escape from the watchful eyes of her overbearing mother and this, fortunately, was one of those times. Yata had awoken sometime in the middle of the night to the sound of her mother's gentle snores and, struck suddenly by the opportunity to escape for the moment and claim a little independence, the young cheetah lady had tip-toed away. The moon was full tonight; it hung brightly in the dark-blue, star scattered sky and illuminated the african lands below it, casting eerie shadows wherever there was a shadow to be made.

There was a chill to the air, but Yata did not care. She flourished in her newfound freedom and celebrated silently to herself as she wandered the savannah without the inhibitions of a chaperone. She'd envied her brothers for her whole life, as they'd been allowed to do whatever they liked, and she'd been forced to live under her mother's possessive (though, certainly well-meant) dictatorship.

A foolish girl with a rebel's heart, Yata came to a standstill at the lip of a canyon. It was very deep and very wide, littered here and there with lush jungle plants. A skinny stream of crystal clear water trickled through the middle. It sparkled in the moonlight. Smiling, delighted by the beauty of the place, Yata slowly made her way down the side of the canyon; she'd discovered a path which cut into the side and disappeared into the miniature jungle at the bottom. It was rough, but much wider than she was, and the going was simple.

Ajani emerged from the small jungle and stopped by the stream, its gentle current sweeping lazily at the edges of her paws. She glanced around her and, after a moment, bowed her head to drink. The day had been depressingly uneventful. At least this territory was better than the last -- the native plants' sweeping leaves looked enticing in the bright moonlight, but that did little to alleviate her boredom. She straightened and stuck her paw under the water, its pads curled upward toward her. She quickly snapped her paw upwards and sprinkled water across her head. The dirt still clinging to the underside of her muzzle from her earlier nap began to slowly wash down her fur. She repeated the motion before sighing. It wasn't like there was anyone to impress, so why even bother?

Ajani collapsed next to the stream and balanced her head on her forearms. The canyon had looked so promising, but as far as she had seen, there had been no interesting animals about that wouldn't take one look at her and scamper back into the undergrowth. Certainly not the pride of baboon worshipers the elephant from yesterday had told her about. Prey animals tended to say whatever they thought she wanted when they thought she was hungry, but she wouldn't have expected an elephant to be afraid of a lone lioness. It was entirely possible that he had a warped, self-important sense of humor, though, and didn't think anything of lying to her. She was fairly certain that if there really were baboon worshipers around she would have noticed them. Perhaps she should have passed on by and directed her explorations somewhere else. It was too late to change that now, though, and she was too lazy to climb back out of the canyon until morning.

Kronos rose, untangling himself from his snoozing brothers and sister. Night was the only time in which he could practice his speaking without disturbing them. He could be utterly alone and it was very refreshing for him. He stepped around his siblings being extra carefully not to wake them.

He smiled as he moved away from his family. One. Two. Three. He took off, quickly gaining speed. His paws pounding against the ground, the wind whipping his short fur and his heart pounding. He was running to his favorite place, a quick bout of exercise before he stopped to began his practices.

Kronos grinned as he ran, "Whhaaa whhooo," he attempted to shout, but his acursed voice only allowed a whisper.

Ment was half asleep when he heard the rustling of others around the area he had discovered during the dusk hours. His ears pricked up, and his eyes opened lazily as he listened to the sounds of the stream and the greens. His eyes were still focusing and thus he could not see anything yet, but he could hear them. He wondered whether or not to make his presence known as the moment, or to stay in stealth and spring at them when they were least expectant.

He grinned, already having his answer clearly in his mind. He'll wait, and scare them. His own brand of fun was risky at times, but it suited him well enough. He'd yet to put himself in a dangerous situation, though it is not to say he hadn't put himself in harms way once or twice. Thinking upon that, his thigh started to twitch, he almost was pierced by a rhino there the other day. He learned they don't scare as easily as most.

Sefu wasn't quite sure how she'd found the lush, green oasis that stretched itself out lazily along the canyon, but she was glad she did.

There were all sorts of animals to feast on, water, and there would be enough shelter from any torrents of rain that happened to pass through. The trees were older, had withstood previous floods, and so she felt safe here - at least as far as the elements were concerned.

It was other lions that prickled her sense of fear. There were kind ones, crazed ones, murderous ones, and one could never truly tell the difference between any of them. She supposed she must have looked like a crazed one, coated in dust with ruffled fur.

It was with this mindset that she dipped the entirety of her dusty body into a stream of water and sumberged her head. Imagine her surprise when she finally re-emerged, a bright yellow lion in her line of sight.

She said nothing at first, looking behind her and swiveling her ears for some kind of trap. "Who are you?" she eventually asked, both ears forwards as she stood chest-deep in the stream and water dripped from her tail and chin.

Kronos began to slow as he ran out a steam, he was fast like all cheetahs and all the same he ran fast in short bouts. He smiled seeing his destination and used his last bit of speed to head for the sweet oasis. It was so wonderful there, so peaceful and he would be able to cool his parched throat before he started his praticing.

Kronos moved to the cool waters oblivious to the others further down the stream. He dipped his head to drink, only thinking about cooling his dry, hot throat. He paid no heed to his surrounding, fore he'd always been safe at the oasis before. He had no fears in this place.

This....Is getting a little crowded, Ment thought to himself as he noticed the male Cheetah make his way down to join the others. He kept his place, safely tucked into the bushes of the oasis. He knew he'd eventually be spotted, if not by his smell than his sounds, but for the time being he watched; especially the two ladies by the water, women were fun, if not to simply anger them and push their buttons.

His ears flicked momentarily as he watched them, one seemed familiar to him, but he couldn't quite place it though. "Gotta love women."

Ajani's ears perked up, and she glanced over at the lioness who had spoke to her. The lioness was standing in the stream, dust radiating away from her in the water. She pushed herself into a standing position before tilting her head curiously. Maybe this was one of the baboon worshipers she had heard about? The unknown unklioness had no trinkets to display any pride allegiance, but she had encountered many prides that had no outward signs of their membership. She had never heard of any lions that worshiped baboons before, and if nothing else, it seemed intriguing.

"The name's Ajani. I'm just passing through these parts." Ajani strode forward into the water, walking slowly as not to appear a threat. For some reason, the lioness seemed uneasy, and she though that maybe limiting her own movement by standing in the water would make her seem less threatening. "What about you?"

Giza had taken to wandering a bit further from her mother and Bombei every day. She still returned to them every night, but she'd grown up now, and was interested in seeing more of the world. After her encounter with her brother she'd stuck close for a time, but she knew well enough that she had to get back on her feet and keep exploring or she never would. Today that need to explore had brought her to a canyon of sorts. She gingerly picked her way down (minding to be sure she could find a way out again later) and set off at a trot down the pass. There wasn't too much to see for a time, and so she followed a little stream. Eventually she thought she heard splashing...And talking? She wasn't used to meeting people, bu she didn't feel shy. Just curious. They sure didn't sound mean...

She crept closer, rounding a turn in the canyon and spotting the oasis. There were several folk around...For now she would just watch. She slunk into some small trees and brush that grew near the banks and peeked out at the other females. "They do SEEM nice..." She turned to one side, seeing movement out of her peripherals...and found herself standing right next to another lion, this one red and white, who'd been hiding in the brush. "Oh...hello?"

Ment jumped giving off a yelp, startled by the voice that had just rung out next to him. He had been so focused on watching the ladies and the cheetah coming down the hill he failed to note the brush moving and this new lady moving in on him. He probably looked silly, all his hair standing up on end, and had he yelped?

"Oh uh, hello." He replied, still trying to get over the fact that not only was her startled, but he just got bested at his own game. Women, they were surprising alright. He grinned widely as he calmed and his fur went back into place, "I'm Peremende'Ment! And you, master sneak are?"

Nicknames, how he loved to use nicknames. It was one of his favorite things. The reciever either loved the nickname and thought more fondly of him for it, or hated the nickname and threatened to harm him in some way, regardless he still love them.

Yata's nostrils flared as a series of strange and unfamiliar scents, mingled with that of the water and the jungle plants, wafted passed her nose on a warm breeze. There were other beasts nearby, and her heart skipped a beat at the prospect of making new acquaintances without the supervision of her mother. Yet, she had been taught to be cautious of strangers and, while Yata had abandoned the woman who'd watched over her for so long, she had not forgotten what she'd learned.

It was important to be careful, but that didn't mean she couldn't have fun. That had been the worst part about living with her mother; their ideas of a good time were wholly incompatible. Siya liked to con and to manipulate and to harm, while Yata yearned for constructive and healthy relationships.

Eager to make friends, but not exactly sure how to go about it, Yata came out of the jungle and, after glancing curiously at a pair of lionesses nearby, slowly approached the other cheetah, who had obviously stopped to quench his thirst. He was familiar to her, as a male of her own species, and she felt safe speaking with him. Kronos was younger than she was so, clearly, she was smarter and he would have to listen to whatever she said. He was not intimidating, unlike the others.

"Hello," she smiled at him. The corners of her eyes wrinkled upwards.

Kaelyndra
Sefu was in fact nervous, and it was apparent when she took a step back. She tilted her head, narrowing her eyes at the newcomer.

She could smell a few other animals in the area; recent arrivals. Her mind swam with the idea of 'trap', but she stayed where she was when the other lion stopped in the water as well.

After a few more moments of nervous glancing, she took her own step forwards, curious. "I'm also just passing through," she answered and a smile perked at the edge of her lips as she began to relax.

"My name's Sefu." She glanced to the trees, and added, "It's a pretty place isn't it? So much different than the savannah."

Ajani turned her head to look at the miniature jungle around them. "You're right. It's not every day I have the chance to visit the jungle." She looked back at Sefu, relieved to see that she wasn't as tense as she had been before. "Do you know if there are any prides that live around here? I've heard that there's one that's supposed to deify baboons. Interesting, right?"

Ajani stretched lazily, shifting her weight backwards as she did so. She shuddered when she heard a loud yelp and swept her head back and forth, searching for the origin of the sound. The yelp had either been out of surprise or pain, and if it was the latter, perhaps Sefu hadn't been worried for no reason.

"Did you hear that?" she asked, just to make sure it wasn't her imagination. Her tail slowly swished through the water in her mounting excitement. It was starting to look like she'd been wrong when she thought tonight would be boring.

Kaori_luv
Kronos looked up a bit startled to see another cheetah standing before him. "Hello," he said in a whisper as she greeted him. He sincerely hoped she heard him. His voice was just so irritating at time.

"Come to the oasis to get a drink," he stated, his voice still a whisper.

He did not mention the fact that he truly wished to practice controlling his voice is private. His situation was so embarrassing.

He opened his mouth again to speak and his words came out in a shout, "My name is Kronos."

He closed his mouth quickly and could feel the heat rush to his cheek. Of all the times for control issues of course his voice would pick now.

Kaelyndra
She shook her head. There were many places her feet had taken her, but she had stopped to see the nature, not the lions.

"Yeah, interesting," she answered, not really caring about a bunch of idiots that decided baboons were gods. They had clearly never talked to a baboon. On second thought, maybe the problem was that they had.

The yelp, however, she did hear, her ears moving back to her skull as she crouched lower into the water. She blew air out of her nose, causing a few bubbles to pop up in front of her, and ground her teeth.

"I heard it," she answered, taking a step forwards, but then stopping again, feeling to wary for her own good.

"You should go fish it out?" she suggested, hoping the female would be more willing to find the source of the sound than her.

ShinosBee
Giza snickered. She hadn't meant to surprise the male, in fact he'd surprised her too! She nodded brightly to him and sat back on her haunches. "Pe...Perem...Ment. Is Ment okay? I'm Gizamulika...Giza's fine." She looked back through the bushes at the others.

"Were you spying on them maybe?" She giggled. Males were strange. Her borthers hadn't been around when she'd been growing, and Bombei was so quiet and kind...Not that Ment wasn't kind, he just seemed different. It was interesting! This was what she'd come to see, lions acting like lions and stuff that wasn't what she was used to every day!

Honey Gee
Wary of the the lionesses and very conscious of the surprised yelp that had not come from them, Yata's ears folded backwards and she stiffened visibly where she stood. She could not see who had yelled, but the voice had sounded male, and she wondered what had happened. Mindful of her surroundings, Yata took a couple of careful steps towards the other cheetah as he beckoned to her, and then halted immediately when he shouted.

She blinked plainly at him. "My name is Dhanyata. What did you yell at me for?"

Empathatic, she had never been. Kronos's embarrassment was lost to her.

A glance down the stream and a quick evaluation of the nearby lioness's informed her that something was off. They looked edgy and, sensing the possibility of danger, Yata swore inwardly. She had never learned how to defend herself! Without her mother, who would protect her? The adolescent in front of her hardly seemed capable of it.

Raine_Storms
So her ears hadn't betrayed her. Ajani's curiosity easily overcame her worries. She had handled herself in potentially dangerous situations before, and she figured there was no reason why this one should be any different.

Fortunately for Sefu, nothing really scared Ajani. She looked at the other lioness before grinning predatorily and stalking slowly toward the jungle. Water dripped off her pelt as she emerged from the stream, but her pawsteps were light despite the quiet noise the droplets made. "I think it came from here," she whispered, nodding her head for Sefu to follow her. If there was one thing she loved, it was playing tricks on people, and if the yelp had been made in pain, well, some predator was going to get an awful surprise. She crept toward the large bushes where the noise most probably come from and, sure enough, she thought she saw a glimmer purple and red through the wide-leafed branches.

Sure enough, she thought she heard a quiet voice saying something she couldn't understand. It sounded female, but the species and intent were still unknown. Ajani crouched against the ground, and her tail whipped back and forth, forming excited half-moon shapes on either side of her haunches. She glanced back at Sefu to see if the other lioness was planning on springing into the bushes with her.

"Giza huh? Giza's a pretty name. And sure, Ment's fine. Took me awhile to be able to pronounce my own name when I was a cub, though that's my mother's fault for that one. Naming me with such a long name," He mused, giving her a look over. she was all sorts of colors and markings. Very feminine was what he thought, but than most women were.

Ment quirked a head to the side as her grinned to her. Indeed he had been spying, spying was a game after all and all games were fun, unless they were painful. "I may have been. Girls are fun to watch, and they do silly things from time to time. I like the silly ones. They tend to be the ones who like games."

Ment sat his bottom down, becoming rather relaxed as her rubbed a paw up to his ears trying to get rid of a pesky itch that had rustled up when his hair was standing on end. He looked at Giza with one eye open, one closed and asked, "Do you like games. Giza?"

Sefu crept slowly after, her paws making hardly a sound as the water parted in front of her. By the time the other lioness had reached the tree-edge, Sefu was just exiting the water and trying to quietly shake herself free of water.

Sefu, however, had no desire to do any springing as she looked over Anjani's shoulder.

"What if it's your baboon lovers?" she whispered uncertainly, her own tail flicking in nervous agitation.

Keeping her head and body low, she slipped through the trees to a different location in hopes that she could get a better look from a different angle.

Kaori_luv
((snugs Thalion))

"I'm sorry," he shouted yet again. "I didn't mean to," he said still shouting. "I can't control it came another shout. Kronos felt rather frantic and desperately wished his voice would stop failing him. Life was so unfair. He was so caught up that he did not feel and tension from the other around him. He really still had not realized that there was more that just he and Dhanyata there.

"It nice to meet you," said Kronos, his voice back to a whisper. He sighed. A whisper was not a normal voice but it was far better than shouting. He silently made a prayer to the gods to keep him from embarassing himself further.

It was then that he noticed something seemed off, as well as the fact the their were other around, though he was not really sure how to react to it.

Honey Gee
"If you can't help it, then don't apologize," Yata informed him, not unkindly; but there was an undoubtedly an air of her mother about her, as she sat up a little straighter and considered him through narrowed eyes. She had never met anyone like this male before. Until now, she hadn't known that it was possible to have such a speech impediment. It was difficult for her to wrap her head around, so she didn't bother to try.

"I know," she responded with a smile, "I haven't decided if I enjoy your company or not yet, but I suppose it is nice to meet you too."

When the lionesses moved away from the water and towards the jungle, Yata blinked. "Do you think they're going to find out whose in trouble?"

Aletta ventured out a bit afraid of what she might find. Her paws though had another plan. She wandered farther spotting other cats and still went forward until she spoke.

"hello?" afraid to speak anymore she waited

Raine_Storms
Ajani hesitated, considering the other lioness's words. Sefu was right. Did she really want to risk ruining her chance to learn about that supposed pride? Then again, Ajani thought, her paws kneading into the dirt beneath her, the possibilities of danger were more pressing. Besides, she had messed up her relationships with the natives of a territory before. If anything, she could just apologize and explain the situation to them. "They'll understand," she whispered back to Sefu.

There it was again only -- wait, that was a different voice. She still couldn't understand what it was saying, but for some reason its energetic tone sounded vaguely familiar. Ajani shook her head slightly before glancing back at Sefu, who seemed to be trying to find a better vantage point to strike. She lowered her upper body, her hind legs tensing.

Her paw carefully drew three lines in the dirt, then tapped the first one, signaling for Sefu to pounce when her paw hit the third line, blissfully unaware of the fact that the other lioness had no intention of joining her in her strike.

Kaori_luv
Kronos frowned at her unsure of what to make of the female before him, she seemed kind of rude to him and with each word that came out of her mouth his desire to know her lessened. He frown intensified at her statement about his company and meeting him.

He was glad for the change in the conversation, "I suppose so," he whispered. He moved toward the lioness, mostly desiring to end his current conversation. "Why don't we go find out?" He started off towards the pair more curious now about the going on and forgetting what he'd originally come to the oasis for.

Honey Gee
It was not her intention to be rude. In fact, Yata thought she was being quite natural. She had never been taught the simple formalities of regular conversation, as her mother didn't hold for such nonsense, and was simply honest to the core. Not cruel or hostile by any means- Yata was simply genuine. She didn't play any guessing games, and had no qualms about letting anyone know how she felt about them.

Unless, of course, they intended to eat her. Then she could recognize the importance and necessity of lies.

When Kronos suggested that they follow the lionesses, Yata quirked an eyebrow. She was curious, but if they were headed towards trouble and, indeed, they found some- she didn't want to be anywhere nearby.

"Do you really think that's wise?"

ShinosBee
Giza smiled. My this fellow sure was friendly! That was nice, she'd been worried that outside her family the world was a scary place, or at least a serious one. Raised by a goddess, Giza had been treated like a child through adulthood...and that was a large part of who she was, ever energetic and playful.

"Hmm, what kind of game?" She leaned closer, 'winking' back at the lion. She paused briefly...had she heard something from the other side of the bushes? "...What'd you have in mind?"

mew-neko
Aletta saw the other cheetah and ventured near her.

"how travels?" she speaks to the other female.

She was still a bit afraid to come to close, afterall lions were near...

Kaori_luv
Kronos nodded, "I think it is wise to know what the sound was. I'm certain we will see them before we get close enough for them to harm us and I'm confident I can out run any threat."

His words were of course whispered, but they came quickly and were stated in a matter of fact manner.

Kronos continued forward toward the jungle where the lioness has ventured, though they were now out of his sight. He doubted they venture to far. They seemed rather cautious in there explorations.

Ment had also paused with Giza, his eyes darting to the direction in which the noise had come from. He smirked. Someone knew they were there and were sneaking up on them, perhaps payback for the activity was in order.

He looked back at Giza, the smirk still present on his face, "A game of tag sounds great." He nodded to the area which the noise came from, attempting to signal to her they were going that way as he haunched into a launch position, and quietly started counting on his paws as Ajani was counting on hers.

One stroke. Two stroke. Three stroke and he was off! Sprinting into the direction in which Ajani was, hoping to startle whomever was there and giving them a who's who.

ShinosBee
Hey, wait, what? One minute the lion was there, the next he was off and running! It was all Giza could do to pound after him, dirt and brush flying under her paws. "H-hey! You never said who was it!" She laughed as she bounded after the male. Of course when she nearly crashed into some other lurking lions she had to laugh again. Who were all these crazy strangers? Was this some small pride she'd wandered into, where they swam and hid and played games? If so, well maybe she'd like it here just fine!

((Sorry for the shortness, and I might have to stop here. WoW's eating me, guildie needing assistance.))

Raine_Storms
Suddenly, something hurtled out of the bushes straight at her. Ajani sprung backwards, her paws tripping over themselves as she scrambled backwards. Her front claws lashed toward her attacker - before she dropped them back to the ground. She recognized that bright red mane, the lion it belonged to. "You again?!" she exclaimed, trying to still her quick heartbeat. Her nerves still tingled with adhrenaline, and her eyes darted between Ment and the bushes. She knew she had seen something purple, and obviously Ment didn't sound like a female lion.

"What are you doing here, funny guy?" she asked, her amusement with the situation slowly dominating her surprise and irritation at being bested. Apparently she hadn't been as stealthy as she had thought. She knew she shouldn't have tried to whisper to Sefu when the other lioness was so far away. Moments later, a purple lioness bounded through the bushes and almost collided with her. She scrambled backwards a few steps to avoid her, before padding forward and sitting down, her eyes trading between both of them in startled disbelief. She tried to keep the laughter out of her voice, but some of it snuck through anyway. "Well. This is unexpected."

Ajani paused, wondering if she had misinterpreted the entire situation. After all, Ment had clearly been busy with a lioness in the bushes, which quite possibly meant that they'd been... She lowered her head, glancing teasingly up at Ment and where she thought the lioness was still hidden behind the bushes. "I didn't interrupt anything, did I? No budding romance spoiled on my account?"

Ment laughed heartily as him and Giza sprinted from their hiding space and out towards the lionesses in waiting. Ment had to be careful as he dodged the one lionesses paws, almost getting clocked in the face by a sharp set of nails. It would have been bad if he had been hit, he'd no longer have such a pretty face.

As the lioness yelled, Ment recognized the voice it belonged to and whipped his head back to see her gold colored coat as he once again toppled over himself, paws over over his head in a roll. When he stopped he smiled, catching his breathing slightly and picking himself off the ground. He knew the scent now, as well as the nickname 'Funny Guy'. It was his lady friend, Ajani.

"My, my, my..." He began, before issuing a pre-emptive 'woah' as Giza came crashing out and almost toppled into Ajani. He was finding silly lionesses left and right in these parts. This was good for him, until Ajani spoke once more, making his brows raise way high.

"Hey now! You put those thoughts back into your head Lady Speedster. Me and Master or should I say Mistress Sneak here weren't in the business of making tiny pattering paws."

(( :B BACK.))

Raine_Storms
"If you're sure. You were the one to go that far, not me." Ajani chuckled, not minding that she was the only one enjoying the joke. She had seen quite a few of Ment's expressions, and yet the shocked one on his face now was definitely new. She considered asking if he'd seen any baboon worshipers, but by now she was fairly certain they didn't exist. There was a difference between hard-to-find and non-existent. She tilted her head in curiosity as a thought occurred to her. "What are you doing here anyway?"

Ajani stood, her paws brushing through the dirt as she drew a rather rough map of the terrain she had covered since she had last seen him. She placed a paw print in the general vicinity of where they had met before then another where a winding claw mark represented the canyon. A sweep from the side of her paw indicated her own path, and then she stepped backwards from the map to look at him. "Did you seriously come the same way I did?" she asked. She never stayed too long in any specific territory, and she never met another lion who wandered as much as she did. Even just the possibility was startling.

Ment made a face of mild annoyance at Ajani, but had no time to keep it as Giza had slammed into him, causing him to trip over himself and to the ground once more. Ment shook his head out of reflex and inhaled sharply, she managed to knock into him in a sore spot, but he wasn't about to let on that he was in pain, especially not in front of ladies. After all, what man wants to be regarded as a sissy?

"Our pride?" Ment questioned, rhetorically as he got himself up and looked back at Giza, "Giza I am not part of a pride. I'm a rogue, like my lady friend Ajani here is. It just seems to be a rather wild coincidence that we managed to find ourself together once again after our escapades last time. Isn't it Ajani?"

Ment grinned at Ajani, making sure his words gave way to thoughts amongst Giza about Ajani, as Ajani's words and thoughts had about him and Giza. This was another type of game after all, simply with words.

Ment looked down at the map Ajani had drawn and shook his head, "No. I took a different path, mostly propelled by a Rhino stampede. But it seems we've come to the same location. Along here with my new friend Giza."

ShinosBee
Huh. So...they weren't a pride! Well that was nifty, that these were all just friends! And now she was one of them. "Oh just Giza's fine. My name's a bit long, but not as bad as...Ment's here." She eyed the white and red lion. His name really was even more of a mouthful than hers. "And I'm fine, really. My head's pretty hard. I just wasn't expecting him to go running like that so suddenly, so when I ran after, and then he stopped..." She shrugged. No harm, no foul. "He said that was a game of his too." She turned to regard him. "What other games do you have, hmm?"

"Anyways, I'm not in a pride either. Just me and Mom and Bombei, we travel aaaaall over! Mom doesn't like to stay in one place very long, but we don't mind, so it's okay. We've seen a lot of places, but I'd never seen inside a canyon before!" She peered up at the high walls around them. "I've never made friends with Rhinos either though. Bombei says they can be dangerous, but Mom isn't afraid of them, so I'm not. Still, they don't like when I get close."

Ment chuckled a little and flicked his ears a little in embarrassment at Ajani's comment, "Something along those lines. Rhinos don't seem to like playing tag, or being startled, eh heh."

"Hmnnn," Ment rubbed a paw at his chin like he was stroking an invisible goatee, even though lions do not have goatees and he has no idea what a goatee is, he was doing it all the same. What other games did he play that he was aware of at the moment?

There was the hanky-panky game, but they probably didn't want to hear about that sort of thing. There was hide and seek, which he was attempting to play before Ajani was stalking them. There was also his rabbit chasing, and beetle stalking, oh!

"Tug the stick is always fun," Ment mused, "It's when you get a nice sturdy stick and hold onto it with your jowl facing one end, and your opponent does the same thing face the other and you try and see who's stronger by pulling or pushing the stick away from them."

Ment listened to Giza talk about her mother and this Bombei person. He figured Giza must be young to talk about her mother in such a doting way. Ment snorted pushing away the thoughts of his own mother who did not sound as nice as Giza's.

"So you travel in a group instead of alone? that must be nice."

Personally, Ajani thought Ment's tug-the-stick game sounded like a good way to break your jaw, but she didn't mention it out loud. He might have gotten insulted, and besides, Giza had already started talking about her family. At least, she assumed that Bombei was part of her family, from what she was saying.

"Your mom isn't afraid of rhinos?" Ajani looked impressed. Rhinos were quite vicious, after all, when angry. Ment had been right when he had said they didn't like to be startled. Most of them didn't like to be talked to either, at least in her experience. "She must be quite a lioness." That was an understatement, in Ajani's opinion. Either that, or she didn't know the meaning of fear.

"It does sound convenient," Ajani added to Ment's comment. She distantly remembered when she had traveled around with her own mother, and she smiled fondly at Giza. "You're never alone and, if you get into trouble, someone's always there to help you."

She started to reconsider her previous decision after hearing about Giza's life. If anyone were to be able to settle the pride question for once and for all, it would probably be one of these two lions because, from what they were saying, they might actually travel as much as she did. "This is going to seem like a strange question, but on your travels, have you ever heard of a tribe that worships baboons? I was told it was around here, but I haven't seen any trace of them."

((Ugh, sorry guys for the wait. Are you still here?))

"Tug the stick? Hmm...I like tugging vines more! Or tails, or strips of hide! They're easier to hold onto, and you can shake your head around to try to jostle the person on the other end! Bombei plays that with me sometimes, but not as much as when I was little. Mom too, but once Bombei came she let him do the playing. I guess she thought he'd make a better match in tugging-game for me because she's bigger than him." Giza nodded sagely. Her mother had certainly warmed up and been...well, more motherly, since Bombei had joined them. Maybe she'd been so sad before because she'd missed him? That would make sense to her, if SHE was in love and away from that special lion she'd be sad too!

"Traveling together is nice, yeah. We share food and sleep and stories...But that's how a family should be, right? All going together and having fun." She dimed a bit, thinking of her lost siblings...and her recent run in with Phlegyas. Not all family roamed together, she'd learned that day.

Hearing Ajani's question made Giza think. A pride that worshiped baboons? That sounded strange, but sort of familiar...Hmm. Maybe Bombei had talked about it? He had traveled for a long long time alone before meeting them, and he always told so many interesting stories. "I'm not sure I know of one, but I DO know of a tribe of baboons that worship a mountain and these magical talking trees! They tried to toss a cub into the mountain once but she was really a baby goddess, and she escaped!" That had been a favorite tale of Bomb's while she was growing. "They live far to the east though, I think.

Ment smiled and gave Giza a nudge with his muzzle, "You and me are going to have to play the tugging game sometime."

Ment never really had it dawn on him whether or not his familiarities with the womenfolk was a bother to them or not, so far no one had yet to put him in his place on such things, but he would be surprised if they ever did. After all those he managed to make acquaintances or friends out of ended up being like him in one way or another.

His ears pricked up and his head cocked to the side with Ajani's question. Monkey worshipers? Who in their right mind would worship monkeys? Than again crazy folk worshiped all kinds of crazy stuff, so it was only a matter of time before monkeys were considered gods.

"I've never heard of monkey worshipers. I have those who worshiped Gods of decay, and light, and even of a group who fancied themselves demons on the inside, but never of monkey worshipers."

"You must have a great time together," Ajani said, smiling kindly at her. Giza didn't seem to realize how lucky she was that her family was still around, let alone together. Sooner or later she'd have to be on her own, but Ajani hoped it was later rather than sooner. She seemed like a sweet lioness, interesting even, and it would be a shame for the cruelty of growing up to hit her as soon as it had hit Ajani.

Ajani's ears perked up. "There were magical talking trees?" This was interesting. The girl seemed like she might be a bit naive, but the prospect of actual trees that could talk? Unless the baboons just thought they could talk. That wouldn't be anything interesting. If all legends and superstitions were to be believed, then every inanimate object would start singing like a chorus line of brightly-feathered birds. She had seen that once, in a far off territory, and hoped to never see it again. Once had most definitely been enough.

Surprise coursed through her when she heard the lioness's next comment. She believed in gods and goddesses, some of them anyway, but she had never understood why they sometimes walked among mortals lions when they could stay in the fluffy, well-watered paradise most shamans spoke of. "That's...interesting. I'll have to go there sometime. Are you sure the goddess didn't curse them when she was older?" Maybe when she was done here, she'd head in that direction. If they weren't cursed. It wasn't like she had had any definite plans anyway. "If someone threw me into a mountain, I'd curse them."

Her head cocked to the side when Ment bumped his muzzle against Giza. It seemed like Ment made a habit overly familiar with his 'lady friends'. Giza, anyway. She made a mental note to figure out whether or not it was on purpose later. Maybe he didn't realize he was doing it, or maybe his mother had never bathed him when he was little. She'd heard attention-starved cubs became slightly deranged when they were older, though, and Ment didn't seem that crazy. Just a little crazy. She could deal with that.

She thought she'd heard of a pride that believed they were demons - it started with an 'a' perhaps - and there seemed to be at least one pride devoted to every god and goddess that ever existed, but she'd still been hoping one of them had heard of the baboon-worshipers. Oh well, tomorrow there would be another interesting rumor for her to chase. Ajani sighed. It had been an unlikely chase anyway. "Shame. That would have been interesting."

Ajani glanced between the two of them appraisingly. "You're really going to just pull something to win a game?" She shrugged. It wasn't her place to act like a shaman or healer and lecture them on protecting the only teeth they'd have to eat with. "Whatever makes you happy, I guess."

Giza tossed back her head and laughed at Ment. "Alright, but I'm not gonna go easy on you just because you're a boy!" Giza's mother was stronger than her 'father' and any other male she'd known, so she'd always assumed males to be...not weaker, but not stronger, certainly. "I'll tug that hide right out from under you!" She play-threatened, giving Ment a shove with her paw.

Her ears perked at him as he went on though. "Oh she's not a god of decay...she's a goddess! And...I know about those demon lions too. They're...not right." She didn't mention that that same goddess was her mother, or that her father had once ruled the demon-lions...and that her siblings remained with that pride.

"And no, I don't think they did. Monkeys aren't that smart, so I think the little goddess took pity on them...I don't know though, I never heard what happened after that." She shrugged. "I think a lot of gods are scared to use their powers on mortals. Besides, they're gods...they could just wait around a while and the mortals would move on or get old. Not like it's a big threat."
