Some days it wasn't even worth it to go inside and go to bed. Sometimes the porch worked equally as well.

What? The swing there was comfortable and it was....kind of nice out today. Might be because the garage was ridiculously hot today for no apparent reason (Eiric still hadn't gotten the heating/cooling system fixed yet, the lazy bum), and it was nice and cool out and the swing was nice and rocking and it was actually kind of quiet around the house, all of which led to him just sitting down, just for a moment!

And right as he got settled down he fell dead asleep.

So it goes.

Guinevere was able to get some rest again, but it had been incredibly difficult for her to sleep for about a week, so when she saw Lind napping out of doors, she naturally felt a bit ornery.

Since it was Lind, she felt no qualms in sneaking up next to him and leaning over his face until her ponytail tickled his nose. She then set about to staring at him as accusatorially as possible. It wasn't a mature thing to do, but Lind brought out the child in Guinevere, and she was still somewhat moody from her week long bout of insomnia. She shifted her weight, adjusting herself until she was staring Lind straight in the eyes.

Now all she had to do was wait.

Well, she could always do what Lind does. Work and work and work and then go and do things until you're properly exhausted and then just pass out until the next morning and repeat.

And, sadly enough for Guin, Lind had lived with three 'sisters' and an untold amount of pets that always demanded attention why aren't you loving me love me more love me now hey it's me pay attention to me. Such sisters took it upon themselves to wake him up in such a way that was very similar to Guin's.

So to say he was used to it would be relatively spot on. And he had also devised a way to deal with said manner of waking up.

Guin found herself with a hand on her face.

Maturity was overrated at times.

"Mmmf!" Guinevere attempted to slap Lind's hand away from her and backed up as quickly as she could. "That wasn't fair!" she exclaimed indignantly, looking at the recumbent figure on the swing. But at least he was awake.

Maybe. He was probably awake.

"Are you up yet, or can you accost me in your sleep?"

"What, and sneaking up on me while I was asleep is?" No, he was totally still asleep. See, his eyes were closed and everything. He was considering staying as such, too, but the sounds coming from inside the house pointed to someone having heard Guin, and was coming out to investigate.

"I'm up, I'm up," he mumbled, pushing himself up from the slouched position he had been in.

"Good. I'm just here to pay you back, anyway." Without further ado, she thrust the parcel she had been holding into his lap. Inside there was a freshly baked cake, which wasn't pretty per se, as Guinevere was still learning how to bake, but wasn't completely horrible either. "Did you think I wouldn't notice you ordered me dessert too?" she asked. "I was sleepy, but I wasn't quite so delusional as to think that dessert grew out of thin air."

She didn't hear the noises from inside quite yet.

"F'r wha-" Box. Box in lap. Well. The lid was pulled up slightly so he could peek inside. Cake. Tasty, tasty cake. His lucky day.

His mind was still chugging along at a glacial pace, so it took him a moment to realize what she was talking about. Dessert. Oh. Right. Should he...? Aaw, why not. It was hilarious. "Well, actually..." finger snuck it's way into the box before it closed, and brought a small dollop of icing with it. "My power is creating pastries, so."

"And who is this?" a voice asked from within the house. Mysterious meetings on a porch? Gifts of cake and desserts? Well, well, well.

Subo was interested.

This might turn out to be disastrous.

"Pull the other one, it's got bells on." Guinevere said, eyeing his definitely metallic looking wings. "If your power's pastries, mine's lacy valentines."

She looked up from Lind to find his mother addressing them. Sweeping her a genteel curtsy because she was an Adult, and therefore worthy of her best manners, she replied "Guinevere Orifiel, Ma'am. I just came here to drop off this cake, so..."

It might be too late to escape, though Guinevere wasn't aware of it.

"Bet that makes you a hit at parties," Ring-a ling-a ling. Hey, he could have said something more ridiculous, though doing that tends to just get him punched.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you," Subo said with a smile. Nice to know that some teens still have manners these days. Couldn't possibly have any idea who she was hinting at so obviously. "Oh, don't let me interrupt you," she said with a wave of her hand as she went to disappear back into the house. "I know how you kids get."

...Well. That was good as far as encounters go. Surprised that she didn't do anything..."Hey Lind," Subo's head poked back out of the door, pointing a finger at him. "Treat this one right. Don't forget, I want grandkids."

...embarrassing.

"WELL. I'm all for pretending I didn't just hear that, you?"

"BEFORE I GET ALL OLD AND WRINKLY."

Guinevere didn't reply because the comment had not yet registered in her brain. When it had, she immediately turned so red as to be practically glowing, and stammered "No, you absolutely have the wrong idea! I- We- No!"

Not daring to look at Lind, she stared fixedly at the wall instead. "I- Hear what?" she said, biting her lip. Then, a moment later, "You don't think that we seem like... a, you know..."

"Couple?" she hissed, appalled that she was even asking.

The events of the other day were flooding back to her. Why, oh, why had she accepted his ride home?

Lind was staring at the ceiling of the porch with the expression of shoot me now, shoot me now, for the love of god, just end it. Ohhh, and this is why he's moving out. Good going, mom. Waaay to go.

Of course, Guin's reaction kind of ruined the whole suffering teen bit. Just because...well. It was kind of hilarious. "What," he said, obviously feigned hurt oozing from his words as a hand grasped dramatically at his heart. "Am I not good enough for you?" And she had accepted his ride home because she was tired. And he had offered it because he was nice sometimes like that. Sometimes there aren't any hidden motives, you know.

Guinevere frowned at him mock-sadly. "It just wouldn't work, Lind." she informed him gravely. "I make it a rule not to date waiters unless their suits are really nice."

She sat down on the porch, tucking her legs neatly underneath her, and peered up at him, grinning slightly. "Is she like this to every girl you bring home? You must not have had a proper date in ages."

Guinevere was a lady, but she knew how to identify major turn-offs, and Subo asking for grandchildren was probably unsettling to girls who were even actually dating Lind.

"Well," Lind said with a sigh. "Technically the waiting is a side job..." Because he was more likely to keep up with the whole mechanic thing than be a waiter for the rest of his life.

God, that would suck.

"Ahahaha," A slightly manic laugh was her only answer, along with a miming of him shooting himself in the head. "Never bring them home," this bit of information was delivered with much warning. "Never." Although this is assuming that Lind gets dates and that they are girls. You never know. You never know.

"Fair enough," said Guinevere, reaching up to attempt to tweak his nose.

She liked bothering Lind. It was relaxing.

"You never bring them home? Where do you take them?" There were only so many restaurants and bookstores in town, and the only definition of 'clubbing' that Guinevere was aware of involved really big sticks. "The Sanctum?" She had spent a night in the Sanctum before, but it was more out of necessity than the urge to get some action. She had been a kid at the time, after all.

"I guess that assumes that you only date Heralds, though."

The two crushes Guinevere had ever had in her life had been on Heralds, so to her the assumption came naturally. She supposed she was sort of a racist, she couldn't ever see herself dating a demon.

Well. The nose tweaking earned her a rather grumpy looking face from him. What, is Lind-bothering a sport now? Should we be keeping tally or make a point system and see who does it best? Which...would be hilarious. For most people aside from Lind, that is.

"That," he said, retaliating by poking her right between her eyes. "Would be telling." Well, Guin, it seems as if you need to get out more and explore the places in town off the beaten path. Because that's where all the fun tends to be. "But no, no Heralds." He'd been out of that loop for awhile, and really hadn't seen much of anyone aside from Guin in awhile.
