The Story of an Inventor

• - • - • - •

The mid-1800s, a time of great inventing and technological advances in every field of machinery. A young, aristocratic, British inventor named Sir James Murdock was a man who always tinkered with fuels for his contraptions. He came across the power of steam. He tinkered and tested. On the test of his prototype steam-engine, it was an intial success, but came at a price. Sir James was too close to the machine, and a heavy spray of hot steam blasted at him, burning him to the point of disfiguration. Over the next few months, Murdock's assistants began noticing their boss's demeanor become more and more insane. The aristocrat wore a gas-mask to hide his face, and cloth gloves to cover his burnt hands. He began building an army of machines and vehicles that were powered by his steam engine design. Some assistants were against his plans, and fled to different nations with copies of his steam-engine design. Those assistants allied with him went to countries that they knew Murdock would want in his favor. His technology is now in the hands of the good, evil, and those who consider themselves the gray between the black and the white. The had started a war under the gaslight

The Rules of War

• - • - • - •

*~ There shall be no godmodding of any sort.
*~ Romance is encouraged, as is violence, but do not go any worse than anything you'd see a rated PG-13 film.
*~ Be literate. No "txt tlking" or *actions*. Type in third person POV, and with at least one paragraph per post. Cursing is allowed, but don't let there be a curse in every sentence.
*~ PM "For Europe!" for characters against Murdock, "Steam-Power Shall Rule" for characters allied with Murdock.
*~ I am the Highest Officer here, and thus what I say, goes.
*~ Put a ninja in your PM, so that I know that you read the rules.

James Murdock was upon his grand, aerial battleship, the IMS Fawkes. He was seated upon a throne that was like that of any king, emperor, or pope. It was black silk, with a brass trim around it. He breathed in through his gas-mask. He had worn it for a reason. One, it covered his scarred face, and secondly, it helped him breath better in the industrial environments he was around. It prevented him from getting black-lung. The Fawkes was flying steadily over Berlin, crowds below chanting, "Kaiser von Dampf!" It literally ment "Emperor of Steam". Murdock smiled under his brassy, skeletal mask. Europe wouldn't know the changes that would come.
