Ivy held the hand of a very annoyed ragdoll child, Eve hadn't been happy about having to get up early just to go try on clothing. Ivy wasn't fond of shopping either, but Eve had covered her clothing in paint meant for the walls of the living and Ivy couldn't find a way to get the paint out. So of course, no clothes meant a trip to the mall was required.
Eve's nanny was off for the day since Ivy didn't have a job offer about a target yet, so it was up to Ivy to deal with her daughter's cranky mood. Ivy didn't bother to calm her daughter down as the girl was stubborn and Ivy wasn't in the mood to be screamed at. She loved her daughter, but she was still tired from training the evening before.
Eve grumbled under her breath, knowing that she wouldn't get far from her mother if she ran off. Why did her mother have to bring her here just to get clothing when her clothing at home was pretty and unique now. Then again, Eve learned before that her mother had no sense of humor when it came to paint on clothing and this was a time that Eve wished her mother did have a sense of humor.
At least she was out of the house and out of the playroom, away from her nanny. Eve rolled her eyes as her mother led her into a child's clothing store, the bright pink and dark blue making Eve a little dizzy for a moment. She felt her mother pause and check on her to make sure she was all right.

Shopping. Samantha loved shopping almost as much as she loved fire. "Come on Reiya, Mom doesn't give us our allowence everyday." Just once a week, she added silently. She couldn't see the point in her sister's reluctance to shop--Reiya had always liked it before. It had always been one of the few things the twins agreed on. What was wrong? The twins were in the main corridor of the mall. Samantha had yet to convince her sister to enter any of the stores.
Sammi decided to try and ignore it. "Come on, let's go into Zumiez," she tried. "You always like that shop."
"I just don't feel like shopping today," Reiya muttered. She glanced around the mall. "Do you think we'll see any boys?" she asked. Her tone had an almost wistful sound to it.
"Boys?" That made Samantha stop and stare at her sister. "You're thinking about boys?"
"...Yeah."
"Come on. If you're worried about boys, that's even more reason to get new clothes." Sammi all but dragged her sister into a Kids Gap.

After having to discuss and fight a little over what outfits to get, Eve tried on a few dresses that were a lovely shade of color. One that her mother said matched her eyes. Eve was appeased when her mother picked out a few pairs of boots. For an assassin, her mother was surprisingly good at knowing what her daughter liked in shoes even though one would have to be specially made for Eve's hoof foot.
Eve chose a few outfits and insisted on visiting the Kids gap, a store that she heard about on tv and something her mother had never heard. Eve shook her head as her mother was too disconnected from the world sometimes it seemed.
Eve skipped to the store with her mother behind her with the two bags of clothing in her hands, the ragdoll hummed a little nursery song that she had heard about.
The little girl stopped as she spotted a bookstore, making a mental note to ask her mother to get a few new books for home. She knew her mother wouldn't refuse her more books to be read from.

"What should we get?" Sammi asked, always eager to be on the move. She didn't like being in one spot for too long, even if it had been her idea to come into the shop in the first place. Mom had said to pick out whatever they'd like--which was slightly foolish of the elf to assume they'd be simply choosing clothes.
"Mom said to try them on first," Reiya reminded her. She had an armful of blouses already. "You know how she gets if we bring something the wrong size." It was clear that Samantha knew quite well, by the expression on her face. Reiya grinned. "I know you think it takes too long," she said. "But they always look better if they fit you just right, I think." The ironic thing was, Reiya usually didn't give fashion advice. It was usually the other way around.
"You're right," Samantha agreed. "I wonder if there'll be anyone we know here?" She glanced around the shop.

Eve spotted two girls that she remembered from a party, she couldn't tell what party though. Only that she had seen them before. She skipped up to them, not wanting to be shy.
"Hi," she greeted them and remembered their faces, but not their names.
Ivy walked behind her daughter a few feet, giving the little girl space while looking for clothing that the ragdoll might agree with.

Samantha paused, seeing a little girl walk up to them. "Oh, hello," she greeted with a smile. "Your name is-- Eve, right? How are you?" The girl was good at remembering names; even though she couldn't remember ever having met the girl personally. One of her friends must have mentioned her. "Are you here alone?" She spotted Ivy, and waved. "Shopping too?"
Reiya turned from the pair of jeans she was looking at to smile at Eve.

Eve nodded, slightly surprised that they remembered her. She knew she hadn't talked to them before, but they seemed nice. "I'm fine. Looking for clothing to replace what I got paint on," Eve shot her mother a dirty look for insisting on the shopping trip.
Ivy waved back, making her way over with a dress and some jeans over her arm for Eve. They looked comfortable and her daughter did like comfortable clothing. "Hello," she greeted them politely.

"Oh," Sammi said, nodding. "The paint wouldn't come out if you washed it or something?" She had never met an infant who could speak so well. Then again, she had never met an infant who looked quite like Eve did. "We're shopping for clothes too--mostly school ones." The girl frowned slightly. School shopping was boring. "Some just for fun though; would you like to look with us?" Shopping was always more fun when you did it with friends.
Reiya looked to Ivy and gave the woman a smile. "Hello," she replied. "Eve's mom, right? Nice to meet you, I'm Reiya."

"No, Mommy tried but it didn't come out," Eve grinned as she liked the look of paint on her clothing. Her mother didn't though the little girl wished the woman liked it. Eve smiled at the mention of school, "Mommy's having me taught at home. No school for me." Eve nodded as she thought it might be fun to shop with someone beside her mother.
Ivy nodded while watching her daughter out of the corner of her eye. "Yes, she's my daughter. It's pleasant to meet you, the name's Ivy." She loved her little ragdoll child very much.

What had an infant been doing with non-washable paints anyway? Samantha silently wondered. Maybe she was like every other baby and liked getting into things and making messes. "Oh--maybe if you'd tried washing it before it dried," she said, rather unhelpfully. "Homeschooled, huh? Lucky. We have to go to school--and then we get homeschool stuff too. On weekends." She made a face; obviously learning was not what Samantha wanted to do on weekends.
"Nice to meet you Ivy," Reiya repeated politely. "Would you like to join us? My sister's already invited Eve."

Ivy had a point in homeschooling her daughter at the moment. The infant was too young for preschool and she wanted Eve to be able to do well in her later schooling. "Sure, perhaps you might help me find things that Eve won't fuss over having to wear."
Eve liked painting, it was fun and she had made some interesting pictures for her mother, though the assassin had yet to figure out what some of the things in the pictures were.
The reason Eve had access to non-washable paints was the fact that the little girl didn't seem to like the washable kind and Ivy gave the girl the paints to keep her from driving her nanny insane.
"Mommy has Lila teach me when she's busy, but I do want to go to school when I can," Eve replied to Samantha. The infant saw the look on the other girl's face, but turned towards the clothing her mother was holding.

"Oh, we're good at that," Reiya assured Ivy with a smile. "My sister's pretty good when it comes to fashion; I like more of the girly stuff. You know, skirts, dresses, pretty things."
"School's fun," Sammi said with a smile. "I like it. Our mom's a teacher, so we get homeschooled-ish, too. Mostly we learn elvish and history at home. Oh, and fencing. Our uncle teaches us fencing.

"Eve's a mixture of girly and a tomboy," Ivy replied, "But she usually throws a fit if I get anything with lace on it."
"Mommy teaches me about human history and science," Eve had finished with counting numbers and her letters. Her young face lit up at the mention of fencing, "Mommy does that with my uncle Louie."

"Oh, I'd throw a fit if my mother tried making me wear lace too," Reiya told Ivy with a smile. "Not that she has--Mom's pretty against lace herself. She doesn't like the puffy-princess dresses." There was a reason for that; but Reiya wasn't allowed to speak of it.
"Uncle Zee used to be an assassin before he fell in love," Sammi obviously approved of his choice to end the career to seek true love. "He still likes fencing, though. I don't think he'll ever stop." Unless of course, Aunt Stasia asked him to, which seemed unlikely.

Ivy chuckled, "I'm kinda against the dresses myself." Her reason for it was because fighting in a dress for a princess was very difficult and very dangerous.
Eve's face lit up, "My mommy's an assassin, but she loves fencing." Her mother didn't know that her daughter knew about her career thought the little girl didn't know what her mother did as an assassin.
