Ment stalked in the tall grass, waiting, watching, ready to pounce on his prey, regardless of how small it was. Attempting to burn off a little pent up energy from being stuck in a cave for the last couple of days for gorging on a recent kill, Ment decided to amuse himself with hunting once more, his prey however were a group of hares in the area.
He did not intend to kill them in anyway, but he was going to catch them and give them a good scare. After all every species should be on their toes, even rabbits. His quarters hind and than he sprung, chasing after the hares in front of him, chasing them around until each managed to find a hole to disappear into.

"Need some help?" Ajani tried to hold the laughter building in her chest at the sight of a grown lion chasing hares. He didn't seem to be trying to actually catch them, which was surprising. She bent before one of the holes and squinted to try to see one of the hares in the tunnel's darkness. After a few moments, she pushed herself back up. "If you're trying to hunt, you're not doing a very good job."
Ajani glanced around before spotting a rather sickly looking bush sticking out between the tall blades of grass. She wrenched a large cluster of branches from it and carried it over to the hole. It took a moment for her to balance her paws on either side of the hole, but she managed to stuff in deeply into the hole, shaking her head to cause the branches to crash noisily in the dirt. A few seconds later, the hare inside squeaked and popped its head out of another hole a few meters away. Another jerk of the branches sent it skittering across the savannah and into another hole, its head frantically whipping from side to side to find its unknown enemy. She tossed the branches off to the side and glanced at the other lion. "And that's how you get it done."

Ment chuckled at the lioness before him, and her ways of flushing hares out of holes, though he found her technique not to be half-bad and would remember it for future use if he was hungry and couldn't find any sizable prey around.
"Good thing I wasn't trying to hunt," Ment said, circling around her to get a good look at her, and pouncing on a beetle that scuttled past her, "I was mostly just chasing them for kicks."
She has pretty eyes, He thought to himself, They look like those shiny rocks I find sometimes.
"So..." He began once more, quirking his head to the side at her, "I haven't seen you before."

"My mistake." Ajani allowed him to circle her, taking the opportunity to investigate him in return. His white pelt made his unusual mane even more striking than it would have otherwise, and he didn't seem underfed like some of the other rogues she had come across before. She flicked her tail with curiousity when he lunged for a beetle. It almost seemed like he was playing with the beetle, and that posibility cast new light on his actions with the hares. His words only confirmed her conclusions.
Interesting... "I'd be surprised if you had. It's my first time in this territory. You might call me a wanderer of sorts." Her gaze drifted toward the beetle, and her voice took on an amused lilt. "The name's Ajani. What about you?"
"I'd ask if you were bored, but..." Ajani's paw gestured toward the beetle, a chuckle escaping her throat. "I think he answers my question. Anything fun to do around these parts?"

Ment's eyes flicked up to Ajani's as he gazed at her from his spot close to the ground on his pounced prey. He smiled, "My name's Peremende'Ment, you can call me Ment for short."
Getting up from his pounced position on the ground he let the beetle scurry away from his paws and into some crack in the dirt where the thing intended to hide for-pretty-much-ever. Seating himself upright he smiled, "Nope. There is absolutely nothing fun to do around these parts my new friend, Ajani. That is why we create our own fun!"
He lifted a heavy paw over Ajani's head and rested it between her ears, "Tag. You are it," and with that he took off past her.

Ment thought they were already friends? In Ajani's experience, usually a bit of talking usually prefaced that, but apparently Ment operated on a different system. She didn't mind, really. The lion seemed interesting, if maybe a bit hyperactive. She almost felt bad for the beetle, but really, it should have learned its lesson after watching him go after the hares. In retrospect, she probably should have too.
"Create your own fun? What do you mean by th-" Ajani abruptly ended her sentence when Ment's paw descended on her head. She blinked, too surprised to react until he was already dashing away.
Ajani's startled laugh was surprisingly loud for a lioness of her size, and a few of the hares who had dared to poke their heads out of their holes quickly disappeared back out of sight. "You're crazy," she said, but it had been too long since anyone had even thought about playing with her. She sprinted after him, suddenly grateful for her quick speed, and tried to ram his haunches with her shoulder when she had almost caught up with him. If she tried to swipe at him instead, she could lose her footing and therefore her speed. Not to mention that she was fairly certain he'd never been body-slammed in the middle of a game of tag before. "You think you're funny, don't you," she growled jokingly. "I'll show you funny!"

Ment peaked back to see if Ajani had followed him. He had tried using the ice breaker on five different lions over the past couple of days, and most either found him strange and wandered off, or found him rude and had hissed at him, none as of yet had chased after him to indulge in his game.
He was pleasantly surprised to find Ajani following him. Finally, he thought, Someone who knows what fun is. Though his excitement over their game quickly turned into determination as he noticed Ajani catching up to him at an alarming rate. Ment was quick on his feet, but he couldn't keep up such a fast pace for long, he was no cheetah after all.
"I am funny, in a fun way my lady fri-" Ment was cut off, as he had been shouting back to her, Ajani managed to body-check him in the hip, causing him to fumble head over heel in a somersault. Damn, she was a quick one.

Ajani darted away, her breaths long and slow to make sure she had enough oxygen to keep up her speed. She wasn't quite sure if that oxygen nonsense was real, but the giraffe who had told her that had seemed pretty knowledgable. He had told her about this large flightless bird somewhere far away who always ran with its mouth open for the same reason, and if he was to believed, it was one of the fastest birds alive. Epus, she was fairly certain he had called them. Well, Ment was no epu, and she was determined not to lose this game.
When Ajani glanced over his shoulder to check where he was, she skidded to a stop. She saw his hind paws tumble over his head in a -- what did he think he was doing? She laughed again, her head shaking in disbelief. "Come on," she called, her hind legs tensing in case she had to bound away quickly. Ment was certainly more interesting than most of the other lions she had met recently. There was no macho posturing or arrogant speeches, just a mixture of amusement and fun that felt like a refreshing waterhole after her last experiences.
"You too tired to continue, funny guy?" Ajani stuck her chest out in playful arrogance as she tossed an invisible mane across her shoulders. Really, Ment shouldn't have made the mistake of calling her his lady friend. He'd realize his mistake soon enough. "I could do this all day."

"T-tired?!" Ment exclaimed, picking himself off the ground as Ajani puffed her chest, "I am not tired, Lady Speedster, but you-"
He cut himself off, having tried to distract her enough where he could run at a sprint towards her and make her 'it' once more. There game had grown interesting for him as she was not afraid to dish out some dirt where need be, and he liked this, especially out of a game partner.
Bounding towards her, he tried to extend out a paw to slap her hind leg and tag her. He was hoping to be successful, but she was quick on her feet, and he knew she anticipated some sort of tryst when she stopped.

Ajani startled when suddenly Ment hurtled toward her, her mind still trying to process the abrupt ending to his sentence. She'd been prepared for him to charge her, just not in the middle of speaking. She should have expected it. From what she'd seen of him so far, Ment had plenty of experience in playing games, tag included. Her body twisted backwards as her legs pushed against the dirt ground, propelling herself in a dead sprint away from him. Ment had startled her enough that he had been almost caught up by the time she moved, and when she whipped her head back to see him, his paw was extended toward her. Not on your life, she thought, already working on a plan that would allow her to pull away from him.
The idea came to her in an instant, and she gave an extra powerful shove from her hind legs to keep his paw from catching her before it could work. It would be simple, yet effective. She lowered her shoulder. In a moment, she was dodging to the side opposite his raised paw. If he wanted to touch her, he'd have to put one paw down and raise the other, a move that would hopefully slow him enough for her to pull ahead. Unfortunately, she'd forgotten to consider the downside to her plan.
She hadn't given any thought as to keeping her tail away from him. His unexpected trick had kept her from thinking that far ahead. Normally she would have tucked it against her hindquarters to keep it out of reach, but as she switched to Ment's other side, that was not the case. Instead, her tail was whipping on a perfect collision course with the side of his muzzle. "You're good," Ajani taunted, her head thrown back in booming laughter, "but not good enough. What do you think I am, a tortoise?"
