This is a private rp between Sayuri's Vatsa and my Etoile. Please do not post... Also please do not ask about the title...it popped in my head and I couldn't get it out. XD

The rising sun painted the sky in many bright hues of pinks, purples and oranges and at the same time dyed the ocean with the same brilliant colors. From the shore a mare watched as the waves rolled in and spread out across the sandy beach just barely touching the edge of her front hooves. She had been watching the ocean since the sky was still dark with night, unmoving. Her tracks leading down to the beach still stood fresh in the sands, undisturbed by the wind, water or other beasts. Her breathing was even almost as though she was sleeping and the chill of the air didn't seem to bother her in the slightest.
Then all of a sudden she tilted her head back and let out a long dramatic sigh. "It's no good!" She whined letting her head droop again a deep frown on her face. The entire time that she had been standing there she had been waiting for something to emerge from the water. She'd heard the village soquili talking about it, creatures that lived in the water with fins rather then legs. She'd had dreams about meeting such a fabulous creature and couldn't take it anymore.
Hours of waiting had proved to be nothing more than wasted time however. She had seen nothing in the surf during the night and still saw nothing. Worst of all, the water hadn't even stayed its pretty painted color when it came onto the shore. "How disappointing." She muttered finally moving a stiff leg awkwardly to kick at a bit of sand.

The ocean was endless...it was a shame that affection didn't seem to be the same. Vatsa was also up watching the sun slowly climb the sky, standing on a dune and musing over the last few months. He'd found what he thought was the one - but something had happened. He wasn't sure what, just that it was neither of their faults as far as he could see. He didn't want to lay the blame at her hooves at any rate.
He walked down the dune, looking along the stretch of beach, as far as he could see at any rate. In the distance, he was sure he could see something moving, and so rather than lose himself in his thoughts, he headed for whoever it was. Company was the best thing right now.
When he'd travelled a short way, the distant blob had resolved itself into a Soquili, and closer still it looked like a mare, her own colours almost like the dawn. He walked right up to her and poked her with his nose.
'Hey there.'

Etoile's ears twitched as the sound of shifting sand reached them. She shrugged it off as nothing and went back into her own thoughts again. After a few moments the sound was louder and she was unable to pass it off as just the ocean moving up onto the shore. She turned her head to look for whatever it was just as something poked her.
She was not the most observant creature in the world, especially not when she was thinking or dreaming, nor was she the bravest creature. As a result the touch sent her leaping a good foot in the air with surprise. Her dark eyes widened to the size of dinner plates and her heart thudded in her chest like a war drum before she landed. She fixed her gaze on the sneaky critter that had snuck up on her and found that it was another horse.
She let out a sigh of relief and further disappointment. Part of her had been hoping for something a bit more interesting but at least she wasn't under attack or anything. Taking in a deep breath she smiled slightly. "You scared me." She said stating the obvious. "I thought you might have been a ghost or something here to kidnap me or something..."

Vatsa seemed to have caught the poor mare unawares; at least her reaction gave him that idea! My but she could leap, he thought to himself, giving her an apologetic smile before speaking.
'I'm sorry, I thought you'd heard me approach, I would never dream of making anyone jump so much.'
He looked at the sunrise mare with a raised brow, wondering what exactly he'd gotten himself into. For those were strange thoughts indeed to have..a ghost?
'Uhh, why would you think either of those?' he asked, making sure he sounded polite as he questioned her.

The longer she kept her feet on the ground the calmer she became. The frantic drumming of her heart had slowed to a more normal pace and the small shock of adrenaline seemed to have faded. Though calming down physically didn't seem to have any effect on her mental state whatsoever.
"Well...those would be quite interesting...don't you thing?" She asked cocking her head to one side before giving the not-ghost a look over. Boy was he ever not a ghost. He was completely solid and not even remotely transparent. Nor did he look like a kidnapper. Really he gave off the impression of being a knight or prince, a dark one. Maybe with a very troubled past?
Hopeful that this was the case she straightened her head up. "So....you wouldn't happen to be here to kidnap me would you?" Her tone sounded more delighted or casual than frightened or worried.

She was the most unusual Soquili he'd met; in terms of personality that was, and this was saying something as his mother was so withdrawn that it was rare to get a full conversation out of her. And he was her son! But this mare..
'I uh, well, I guess I'd never really thought about that sort of thing. It's not come up in conversation before, that's for sure.' Vatsa grinned.
'Umm no? I saw you, and wasn't in the mood for being in just my own company. Is that something you're looking for then, to be stolen away?'
She was getting odder by the minute, and he didn't know whether to be amused, or cut short this little meeting.
