Who: Alex & Kyou
When: Afternoon
Where: Kyou's office
Weather: ...it's an office

Her knuckles rapped lightly against the door, waiting for his voice before she opened it.

Alex slipped into Kyou's office, holding her copies of the reports compiled around the fel virus outbreak, though her exposed arms told all the story and brought back all the memory she'd ever need. Bravely - or perhaps not - she'd worn a tank top today for the first day since she'd been burned, showing off, from the elbows down, the product of that virus. Despite the red and pink that clashed with lined black and white around the worst of it, the skin was healing smoothly, thanks to her strict regiment of researched vitamins and exercises.

Perhaps even more odd than her impeccable healing was her indomitable smile. The Italian all but bounced into the office, her hair bobbing like some insane tail as she nodded to Kyou, closing the door behind her. "Good day!" she greeted her boss on familiar terms, taking a few steps towards his desk before pausing, tapping the documents in her hands. "I've been working on logging all this goodness," there was a dry tone in her voice at the last part, her own chipper brand of sarcasm, "if you have anything to add. Just...y'know, so you know."

She knew that wasn't what she was called in for. Well...that was a lie, she didn't really know what her boss wanted her in for other than he had said something about a discussion of a serious nature. And so, with the documents hugged to her chest, she tilted her head and waited for instruction. Alex had a feeling she knew the source of their impromptu meeting, but she was holding off on conjectures until she knew. Kyou was unpredictable like that.

"Come in." Kyou announced as Alex knocked on his door. A smile graced his lips as the Italian woman entered his office, being her bumbling self in usual despite all the recent scars that are displayed for all to see. Still, Kyou find it difficult not to smile when Alex is around. The scientist chuckled lightly at the her sarcasm towards the reports. "Thank you, Alex. You've been a great help."

A single vial sat in the middle of Kyou's desk, placed carefully in a padded wooden box with a glass cover, the dim purple light glimmered almost sinisterly in the office's fluorescent lights.

Kyou let out a long audible sigh as he looked at the Self Replcating Virus fel essence settled in the box. "Please take a seat, Alex." The scientist motioned at the chair in front of his desk. The issue that he will be discussing with her would not be a pleasant one, so he hoped that at least she would be comfortable while listening to the news that he is going to break to her. Once Alex was seated, he gingerly pushed the wooden box forwards a little towards the Italian woman. "I asked you in to discuss about this. The Self Replicating Virus fel essence; the source for the virus outbreak that happened in Halloween." His tone was serious, his usual carefree, jovial nature all but gone. "I extracted it from Lazarus's body when I was treating him. I... I can't bring myself to destroy a fel essence, eventhough it nearly destroyed the lab." Pain was evident in his voice as he spoke, his logical mind conflicting with his morality. Closing his eyes momentarily, he took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, trying to compose himself, to calm himself down.

When he opened his eyes again, his gaze no longer waver, they were firm, goldern orbs looking at Alex. "So in order to prevent an outbreak like that from happening again, I had decided to 'destroy' the fel essence - to use it in the creation of a Raevan." He laughed uneasily at the thought, Alex must think that he is mad now.

The Italian beamed at the compliment, bowing her head in acknowledgement and gratitude. The next part, however, made her stomach sink to what felt like her toes, eyes following Kyou's as she slowly took a seat in a chair opposite of his; he was serious, making her feel a tad uncomfortable. She wasn't sure she'd ever seen Kyou truly serious, and the idea...almost frightened her. As her boss continued to speak, she felt a sort of revulsion as she looked at the fel essence that had caused her and her loved ones so much pain. What she wouldn't have given to give that damnable thing a what-for!

However, Kyou had other plans. Her green eyes opened wide and disbelieving at the doctor, her lips parted in shock. He wants to keep this thing? But no, of course he didn't.

He wanted to go one step further.

"Stai scherzando," she murmured, unconsciously rubbing one of her still-healing arms. The moral part of her did think he was mad; to keep that thing around was only asking for trouble, and nothing BUT trouble could come from it! The scientific part of her understood that there was no real way to destroy a fel virus, not like this. There'd be no certain way of eradicating it, and who knows what it could do if it did so much as even linger in the air...? And then, the logical part of her agreed with the doctor, much to her dismay: there was only one way to control such a volatile and dangerous thing. The only way they knew how.

Alex leaned back in the chair as though winded, staring at the box though her eyes were somewhat unfocused. She was silent for a time, her mind reeling and trying to process the information to all possible solutions, and over half of them did not end well, for the Raevans or their Guardians. The thing was just...the Italian didn't believe in an ultimate good or bad, but this thing was definitely on the side of evil.

Exhaling quietly, she put the papers in her lap and arched her back forward, her elbows on the desk as she peered into the box, watching the seemingly harmless violet shift and swirl with a life of its own. Her fingers touched the rim of the box, and like Kyou, her expression was devoid of mirth or jest, instead settled into a solemn one, if not grim. In the end, Alex was a doctor of zoology. She understood what danger the thing possessed. "So," she tore her eyes from the vial, brilliant green settling upon his striking gold, "what's your plan?"

Without averting his gaze, the scientist leaned forwards in his seat, only the desk stood between him and Alex now. Kyou was way ahead of Alex, he had considered a lot of different ways to keep the fel essence from causing more havoc as well even before he withdrawn the substance from Lazarus's body. Failing to find a better solution, he had to settle with what they have.

"During the formation of the Raevan, I will cast a strong curse upon it. The curse will restrict all abilities that stem from the fel essence. So the only thing the fel essence can do is to support the body, nothing more. The Raevan will only have abilities that originates from the soul." Although Kyou was aware that even though the curse will be strong, there is still a way to break it if the Raevan really try very hard. But he chose not to divulge this information to Alex in fear that it may cause more worry to the physically-worn Italian woman. Besides, the information on how to break the curse will not be easily acquired as well.

However, informing Alex of this information and decision was not the only reason Kyou asked the zoologist in to meet with him. "Alex, I know you had been a great help all this while, and I really appreciate it. But I need your help once more." His features softened ever so subtly as he spoke, he was asking for a favor after all. "Do you know anyone reliable that we could hand the Raevan to? Preferably someone you know and could meet frequently. It would even be better if they could take up a part time job of sorts in the lab, we are still somewhat understaffed. But that way we could keep a better eye on the Raevan, you know, just as a precaution." Even though Kyou had a vast connection of his own, he still couldn't find anyone suitable to take up the job. So he had to try and rely on Alex to find a suitable guardian for the virus Raevan. However, if she had no better candidate as well, he could always find other ways of finding someone reliable.

"Cazzo," she breathed as Kyou spoke of his plans, though she did well not to interrupt him. Alex didn't know much about magic - she hadn't even acknowledged its existence until late in her college years - but she was pretty certain that curses...could be lifted. Wasn't that the way things worked? There was always a counter, a way to undo what was done, or so all the movies she'd seen and the fantasy books she'd read would lead her to believe.

Yet still, she woman was unsettled, and it wasn't until Kyou continued on to to the next part that Alex truly knew why she was called in. She listened, though she reacted more visibly this time; her eyes grew wide, understanding writ clear and clean over her face. Not only was this thing to be made into a Raevan - it would have to have an owner! "I assume," she finally gave herself a voice, "that means Jeremy is out of the question." He'd given her Zul, after all, and the idea of saddling the man with such a fearsome prospect was not something she'd want to do.

Alex leaned back, biting her lower lip and looking at the fel virus in momentary silence. What would they need, what would they require in a potential Guardian for this terrible concoction of evil and magic? "They'll have to be stable, in all aspects of the word," she started, speaking more to herself than Kyou. "Big heart, good attitude - we don't want a pessimist to get their hands on this. Or anyone ill-tempered for magic, anyone who might seem selfish..." Well, that went half the human population in one swoop.

"Someone we can trust," she continued, her index finger brushing between her lips and muffling her words. They needed someone optimistic, stable, trust-worthy, someone who can come in during the evenings or weekends. Someone understanding, patient, good with the young and willing to be a mentor. Someone to teach the being that no matter what, there would always be a place for them in the world, irregardless of anyone else's opinion...

She didn't even get the chance to start ticking names off, as one immediately sprung to mind, and on the heels of it, instant knowledge that he was both the perfect candidate and quite possibly the worst ever on a personal level. Alex closed her eyes for a moment, letting the war wage within her for only a handful of seconds before she nodded once. "I know the perfect person," she replied, her voice betraying her heavy thoughts. Her brother was going to murder her, painfully. Probably with a spoon.

"His name is Zeke, Zeke Farris. A veterinarian in Durem, he's seeing my brother. He...heh, you'd have to meet him," she smiled then, a wistful, almost distant expression on her solemn face, "but I think you'll find he can satisfy any requirement we'd have."

At the mention of Jeremy, the scientist nodded his head gently. "Yes, Jeremy never expressed interest to be part of the project directly. He had confessed.. that he may be too old to care for a child." After all, he did requested Zul to be passed onto Alex as well. Although Kyou had longed for Jeremy to have a Raevan of his own, he respected the elder man's wishes and never pestered him about it.

Silently, Kyou just listened closely as Alex mused aloud, finding himself agreeing to most of her deductions as well. However, his face lightened up when the Italian mentioned about a possible, or perfect candidate. His gold eyes watching the woman hopefully as she spoke.

A veterinarian eh? Named Zeke Farris. Kyou don't know any vets, so he isn't sure how they usually are. But he always had the impression that people that liked animals enough to be an animal doctor would be nice people. He would had to believe in Alex's judgement on this. When Alex mentioned that this Zeke fella was seeing her brother though, he cocked one of his eyebrows in surprised. Not that he had anything against homosexual, quite the contrary actually. It was an instinctive reaction perhaps, because he find these people interesting. Now Kyou really wanted to meet this Zeke Farris.

"I guess we will meet when you introduce him to the lab. But can he take on a part time job in the lab with his profession?" The scientist always thought doctors are on-call all the time from their employers. Although he had to admit he wasn't sure if veterinarians are the same.

Now that they had an appropriate guardian candidate for the virus Raevan though, Kyou felt a little bit more relieved. He slumped a little in his seat, his shoulders sagging as he let out a long sigh. The nightmare is finally about to be over, once the fel essence is gone. Suddenly, Kyou felt a wave of exhaustion washed over him as he let his body relaxed. All of those pent up stress was probably let loose when he let his guard down. The scientist felt like he could sleep for a full week now. "Thank you so much, Alex." he repeated his thanks. "You can find the soul bottles in the left most cabinets there." The scientist instructed, pointing at the black cabinets sitting adjacent to the walls. "Just pick any single one and give it to Zeke for me, will you? I think I need some rest."

A quiet chuckle followed the surprised look Kyou gave her. Had the man known her brother, that look would have been amplified ten-fold. "Sounds good boss," she replied, a little more light-hearted but only by appearance; inside, she was certain her heart was on the chopping block. "I'll ask - I don't really know how busy he is, but I'm sure he'll make the effort. He's a good man like that." Alex stood as the doctor slumped, sensing her dismissal was near, though her eyes kept being drawn back to the virus that glittered so innocently, so ominously from where it lay.

"That's what I'm here for," she replied with a smile, turning to look at the indicated cabinets. She moved over to it and tucked the reports under one of her arms, opening the black doors and peering within. The Italian knew a bit of how the things worked - the color of the cloth and all - and the last thing she wanted was to pick something devastating. Her fingers brushed beyond several brightly colored ones (thinking of venomous creatures), a few dark ones (it just didn't sit well with her) before pausing over a mixture of the two: black and red. Like a cardinal, she thought to herself, drawing out the bottle and looking at the object against her warm palm. Or a flower. That's a good sign.

Holding up the one she'd chosen for Kyou to see, she closed the cabinets and retrieved the documents under her arm again, nodding to the demonic man. "Rest well, Kyou, let me know if you want me to make you anything to snack on before I leave for the day." With that, Alex crossed the office, bidding Kyou farewell until she could speak with Zeke. She hoped they weren't making a grave mistake...
