Okay, all, let's stop being "band geeks" and actually talk about music.
Our top band recently played his Psalm for Band beautifully and is throwing it away(of course not literally). But, in the process of it, I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!!!
I really loved the randomness of this piece. It was so awesome. And thank the trumpet god I had the easy 2nd trumpet part biggrin haha, so my parts were pretty easy mange; mid-range, fun rhythms, all that good stuff. Poor clarinets.
Anywho, we've taken out Symphony for Band by Persichetti and epically failed at sight reading it. Oh, it was so fun though! But we're pending on whether to actually play this piece or not.
Any other pieces you love by Persichetti? Have you played Psalm for Band? What about his Symphony? etc. etc. etc.
