Kieran meanders through the forest, every once in a while pausing and looking at a tree curiously. What he's really doing is looking for hollow ones. He used to hide stuff in them as kids, and he knows he can magically recall them, but he has to know where they are first.
The useful implications of his talent had only recently hit.
And so he keeps looking for the hollow trees. He knows he'd found five or six as a child.

Calais was whistling as she walked through the serene forest and brushing her hands against the bark of the trees. Her ears twitched at every sound: the crunch of the leaves under her hooves, the rustling branches, the howl of the wind. The beautiful music of the forest. She passed tree after tree, and eventually passed something that wasn't a tree. Her vivid green eyes stopped on a set of familiar spots and a beach scene replayed in her mind. She smiled and jumped behind a tree and poked her head out at him. "Boo!" she wasn't sure if he remembered her, but how could she forget her loyal servant?

"Kyaa!" exclaims Kieran, jumping. "By the sands, woman!" he says accusingly, frowning. "I'm not bothering you, why'd you have to go scare me like that?"
She looks familiar. He can't quite put his finger on it, but still. That impish smile, buttery-gold skin...he definitely knows her from somewhere...
He folds his arms across his chest, almost pouting, as he waits for a response.

Calais paused for a moment, trying to suppress her laughter. What kind of response was that? She arched her eyebrows quizzically at him. "Well you never returned to your princess." She responded, hoping that would trigger the memory for him or something, or else she might sound like a creeper. She hoped that wasn't the case. "I thought you must have really died from my cooties..." Of course she no longer believed in that.

Kieran's eyes widen. "You....you!" he exclaims, pointing at her. "Guardians....I thought you were like a figment of my imagination! I tried to find you again, but I didn't know your parents or anything, and I couldn't remember your name, only that you stuttered it." He runs a hand through his hair, still boyishly messy. "I'm Kieran, by the way. I don't know if you remember. Wow, that was such a long time ago!"
And damn, she got gorgeous. It's about all he can do to talk at her face instead of the rest of her. Cripes.

Calais' eyes widened. She had stuttered her name? How embarassing, she had carefully erased that from her memory. Calais blushed, oh the fun of being a stuttering child at least she had gotten over that. She hoped. "Y-yah that was a while ago." Calais sighed, it was only because he had got her trippin' up over her name that she had stuttered a bit. "My name is Calais." She was glad he had offered his name because she had forgotten that as well. She looked at the ground awkwardly because it felt like he was staring so hard at her face he might burn holes through her.

Kieran abruptly realizes he's now staring at her like some sort of creepy dude. "Dammit," he mutters. "Sorry I'm so awkward," he says with a little laugh. Stop thinking about how pretty she is. Stop it. Stoppitnow! "You're very pretty," he blurts, and immediately winces. "Sorry! That just...came out..."

Calais didn't realize that staring down at the ground probably didn't help the situation at all. Her head snapped back up and she looked at him, relaxing her gaze so that she wasn't burning holes into him either. Calais' cheeks turned bright red when he blurted out that comment. She didn't want to open her mouth, she just knew that bumbling nonsense would come out. "Uhm, thank you..." she spoke very slowly so that it wouldn't all blend together. "You turned out nice too." Is that what she was supposed to say? This was something new.

"Heh, thanks," says Kieran, running a hand through his hair again. He scratches the back of his neck sheepishly. Say something, you idiot! "D'you want to go for a walk?" He asks. "I was just looking for hollow trees I may have left stuff in when I was a kid. Want to help?"

"Sure." Calais said immediately, too quickly. "I mean... I was already on a walk anyways, wouldn't hurt to have some company." She looked at the male curiously, that sure sounded odd. "There's a lot of trees" What an obvious and dumb statement. "Do you really think we can find the ones you're looking for?" That sounded rather hopeless.

"Well, maybe not," says Kieran, continuing on his walk, hoping she'd follow. "But seeing as how I've got nothing better to do today..." He looks up from the tree he'd been expecting. "Unless you have any better ideas?" He flashes a smile at her. There would be his old teenaged smarminess coming out. He can't help it. He knows his prowess over the ladies isn't as good as he'd like to think it is, but still. Practice makes perfect, after all.
"I mean, I haven't built a sandcastle in ages," he says.

Calais didn't have anything better to do or any ideas about what to do, but still it wasn't as if she had to follow him. She wondered if it would be weird if she did follow him, he could have just been nice and offering but really he was just trying to get away from her. He did smile though... Calais shrugged her shoulders and followed after him. "Sure, I'll help you out." Calais knocked on the trees around her to check if any of them were hollow. "I haven't built a sandcastle since that day. I don't usually go to the beach."

"Well maybe we'll go build one later, then." He knocks on a tree. It's hollow. He looks up and down for a hole he could've put something into as a child. "Hey, check it out, I found one!" He puts his hand in the hole near the base of the tree and pulls out....a toy sailboat. "Cool! I remember building this thing!" It's effectively a block of wood with a triangular piece of fabric attached to it. But still.
He shows it to Calais and then puts it back. "Come on, I wanna show you something really cool!" he exclaims, suddenly full of boyish energy. He takes her hand and pulls her along, jumping over fallen logs and dodging under stuff.
He comes to stop at another hollow tree. There's nothing in this one. "Okay, watch this." He leans on the tree with one hand and closes his eyes, concentrating. After a few seconds, the toy sailboat he'd just put back in the other tree appears before them.

Calais wandered closer to him to see what he had found. "Awesome, how many more to go?" She asked him. She looked over at the sailboat he had found and laughed lightly, looked like they had stumbled across some of his childhood memories. Then before she knew it she was being whisked away. Her eyes grew wide as she narrowly avoided the logs and branches that were sneaking up on her. "Where are we going?!" she shouted. Then they stopped and she leaned over panting, she wasn't really in an athletic shape right now. Calais looked up to watch what he wanted her to see, "You ran us around in a circle." She stated, somewhat annoyed, not understanding what he had done.

"Nono, that's not it," he says. "The other tree's hole was in the base, this one's higher up." He beams, clearly proud of himself. "It's my power. I can move things from one tree to another." He puts his hands on his hips, inviting her to bask in his awesomeness.
Why yes, he does have an ego.
