Usiku had spend a good portion of the the previous day and well into the night trying to find a safe place to rest. Though she was still exposed where she lay it was the best she would do for right now. The thick bushes at the base of the tree provided shade as well as hid her for the most part. And the tree, well it's large trunk also did an okay job of hiding her for the time being. She would move again in the cool of the day, after she rested for a bit.
Licking her wounds on her shoulder and chest to clear the debris out of them. She let out a sigh. Hunger was beginning to creep up on her but she was in no shape to hunt right now. She laid her head on an exposed root from the tree, her eyes looking out for any signs of danger. While she doubted the lioness would come back to drive her point home again Usiku knew that this was not the time to let ones guard down.

Subu had traveled a goodly distance from the area he'd met the Lion in by the time mid-afternoon of the next day rolled around. It wasn't as though he was trying to put distance between them - he'd just ended up where his paws carried him and that happened to be here. The days's heat was starting to wear on him however and the purple male had been headed towards a few tree's he'd potted in the distance.
It wasn't until he'd made his way closer to the tree that he smelled the scent of old fresh wounds, and female. A female scent that seemed vaguely familiar. Picking up a jog the silver and purple male made his way closer - and despite expecting to see someone he'd seen before he hadn't expected to see her. The dark purple female he'd met a few days ago and she looked a little bit worse for wear. "Why hello" He greeted as he walked up, letting his eyes roam over her.

Usiku's ears perked up a bit at the faint some of another creature approaching. She lifted her head and hoped like hell it wasn't someone here to take advantage of her weakened state. Sure she could run, but Usiku knew she wouldn't get far. A slight frown crossed her maw as she saw just who was coming. Subu the dog she had met a few days back. Of all the creatures to find her it just had to be him.
She sighed as he greeted her. "What do you want?" She said as she watched him look over her. She would have told him to get lost but yelling would use up too much of her precious energy right now.

Subu grinned slightly at the female's tone, guess she's not the type to soften up any when she was wounded he thought to himself...it would have been surprising if she was but Subu had meet other dogs who turned into simpering fool at the first little injury to themselves. "Looks like you had a bad time of it since the last time we met" He told her as he padded over and took a seat nearby - it wasn't like she was in any shape to run him off now was she? "Get on the wrong side of..." And here he paused to further examine her wounds for clues "...a lion?" He guessed after taking note of the wound patterns.
Subu had seen his fare share of lion injuries - Dogs and Lions didn't always get along, it tended to happen when two predators shared both the land and the same prey. "I surely hope you didn't try to run a lion off of one of your kills like you did me" He commented "Always best to just let lions have what they want...nasty brutes they are"

Usiku snorted slightly at his assessment of what she had ran into. Oh course it was a damn lion, she thought, look at these claw marks. "If I had a bad time I would be dead." She commented half under her breath. Of course if she was dead she wouldn't have to suffer his company so there was a slight downside to living. Dwell on that later, she told herself.
Lifting her head a bit more she looked at him as he sat nearby. "No, I wasn't trying to stop her from taking my kill." Usiku was smarter than that, she knew in cases like that you let the lion win. Even though doing so mad her hate herself. "I was minding my own business at a water hole. She came in thinking she owned the place and I stood my ground." She fell silent for a few moments thinking back to the fight. "I'm afraid I didn't get the pleasure of learning her name before she kicked my a**." A small chuckle escaped her maw, though she almost instantly regretted it as it caused a wave of pain to course through her body.

"In these lands wounded" He told her with an arched brow "Is as good as dead sometimes". He fell silent as she related her story, shaking his head a little, it had been a brave move, but a stupid one. Subu didn't think pointing that out to Usiku would earn him any points with her however so he kept silent for the moment. It sounded like she'd run across a particularly ill tempered lioness - your typical lion didn't bother picking a fight over something as juvenile as a watering hole. Not that this observation did anything to help Usiku.
"Her name hardly mean's anything, probably best you don't know - less likely you'll get it into your head to try for some sort of revenge" He told her with a tinge of amusement in his voice, amusement which he almost instantly tried to quell, it wasn't right to laugh when she was obviously in such pain. "Lucky for you I happened to be wandering through this area now isn't it?" He asked her with a glance out over the plains.

"If you're implying that I would be stupid enough to go after her then you've got me all wrong." She told his with a snarl. Of course if she ever met up with that female one on one again, well that would be a different story. She certainly wouldn't go wandering off into her pride lands looking for a fight. That would be suicide and not quite the type of revenge Usiku was looking for. Besides even if she was stupid enough to consider that she certainly wouldn't go about doing such a move in her current condition.
Her eyes glanced out at the plains as well then moved back to Subu. "Oh yes this must be my lucky day." Her voice dripping with sarcasm as she rolled her eyes. More like it was lucky for him she didn't have the mind to chase him off right now. She would if she didn't hurt so much and wasn't so tired. Rest first, she told herself, then drive him away.

"Well thats good to know" He told her in a surprised sounding voice, but tossed in a wink to let her know it didn't really surprise him. He had never thought he was a stupid Dog, Temperamental perhaps...but not stupid. Standing up he gave a bit of a stretch and a yawn before casting a look at her again "Well...good luck with all of..that" he motioned to her wounds with his muzzle and then headed off into the plains.
No doubt she probably thought he was leaving for good - and Subu didn't give her any other impression, he could only hope she didn't move in the time it took him to find a meal to bring back to her. Although in her condition Subu didn't think she would get far and it certainly wouldn't be very hard to track her down again. He waited until he was fairly out of sight before he started casting about for suitable prey - nothing to small as that wouldn't give her the strength she needed and nothing too large as he had to drag it all the way back to her.

"Yeah thanks." She told him as he motioned to her wounds. She was actually quite surprised that he left and relieved at that too. Usiku was in no mood to have a nice conversation with him or anyone for that matter. What she really needed was to rest, gain back her strength and start hunting again, nothing large of course, small prey mainly to start off with.
She watched his retreating form for a few moments making sure he wasn't going to come back. Laying her head back down on the tree root she let out a soft whine and closed her eyes. She would find a more suitable hiding spot after she got some sleep. Then she wouldn't need to worry about Subu or any others finding her. Slowly she began to drift off to sleep, although her ears were open to any sounds that occurred around her to alert her to any possible danger. Danger after all had a nasty habit of sneaking up on one out here.

It didn't take Subu to long to find a suitable meal for Usiku, although as he stalked the young impala he did wonder just why he'd decided to help her. It wasn't like she'd asked him too - or probably even wanted him too. But Subu was just that type of guy - she as wounded and who knew when she'd be able to hunt again, he couldn't just leave her to starve or be bullied by the next guy who came along.
Throwing these thoughts aside for the moment Subu dashed forward as the Impala yearling made a bad decision and walked closer, a quick chase, trip and moment later and Subu was left with a dead antelope. Which of course he now had to drag back to Usiku, panting he looked in her direction, he could barely see the tree she was resting under in the distance...not to far he told himself, though he inwardly groaned at the task.
Subu however was not one to put off hard work and set himself to the task quickly, making decent progress across the plain until the purple female was once again in sight - and sleeping too if his eyes weren't failing him. Well that was good he told himself - resting was always good for the wounded, though he was pretty sure his approach would wake her up shortly.

Usiku wasn't sure how long she had been asleep before a soft dragging sound reached her ears and roused her. Being not one to let her drowsiness be a burden she quickly blinked the sleep from her eyes before they focused on Subu and the young antelope he was dragging towards her. What did he think he could win her over by an act of kindness. Well it wouldn't work she told herself. She was not one to be won over by such things.
"Oh look at that." She said as he got closer. "He can hunt. And here all along I had you pegged for a scavenger. Guess you're not a complete lazy a** then." That was about as big of a compliment as Usiku could muster that this point. If he expected a bunch of praise for his hunting skills then he was barking up the wrong tree, so to speak. Though she had to admit she was slightly impressed at how quickly he had done so.

Subu rolled his eyes a little at the females comments, they were pretty much hat he'd figured she'd say - but gratitude or not he'd still done a good deed and really her praise wasn't needed for him to feel good about that. Dropping the antelope once he had brought it close enough for her to reach he gave her a look "Just hush up and eat" He told her with a motion of his muzzle towards the kill. "I couldn't do anything about water, will just have to brave a trip to the watering hole once you've eaten and rested a bit more." He continued before settling down to clean himself off some.
He didn't pay much attention to Usiku while he did so - most beasts just didn't like to be stared at while they ate. It was rude. "Figured I owed you...for eating part of your last kill" He told her as he finished and stretched out in the sun.

Usiku's anger flared for a moment when Subu had the nerves to tell her to hush up and eat. Her eyes stared him down but she couldn't ignore the rumble in her stomach and the scent of a fresh kill was too much to resist. Slowlt she got to her feet, although it took much more effort than she thought it would. Hobbling over to the antelope, she was careful to not put too much weight on her injured paw. That one hurt the most out of all her injuries since paws were extremely sensitive areas of ones body.
She knew full well that she would need to make a trip to the water hole soon. One could only go so long without water in such heat. But first there was the matter of her hunger to attend to. Once she reached he carcass she not so gracefully plopped herself down beside it. Then she took a quick glance at Subu. "Damn right you owe me." Turning back to the antelope she quickly began to eat it.

Subu let amusement flicker across his eyes as Usiku tried to stare him down, there wasn't much of a threat behind her glare however - considering her condition. None the less Subu wasn't bothered by ducking his eyes after a few moments and letting her believe she'd won, no point in getting her really riled up when she ought to be resting he told himself while she ate.
"Well I think we might call ourselves even now' He corrected the female with a nod towards the carcass before turning his gaze back to the plains. "Do you happen to know the closest watering hole?" He asked her after a few moments "It would probably be best to make the trip before night falls - we will need time to find another shelter before the other predator start stirring. Some of them might consider you an easy meal right now" He concluded with a roll of his shoulders that might approximate a shrug.

Usiku did her best to ignore Subu while she ate her fill. While she was still quite hungry she found that with pain racking her body she just didn't feel like eating all that much. So after a few minutes of eating the tenderest meat on the antelope she looked back at Subu. "Yeah I know where it is." And luckily for her it wasn't the one that she ran into that lion at. She wouldn't be visiting that watering hole for a while now.
Taking a deep breath Usiku rose to her paw, a small whimper escaping her maw as she did so. It seemed like each time she moved she would undo what little healing had occurred within her wounds. Now see this is why you are supposed to rest while injured she told herself. She glanced back at Subu who was currently busying himself with looking out across the plains. "Well come on then. Day light is burning." She said and then began to slowly hobble away in the direction of the watering hole. Not like she wanted his company but at least he would protect her should they run into a not so friendly predator.
