One job was over rather early, the other he would start lateish, if they needed him at all. And were he to be at home, he would be pressed into service there, so out of a desire to actually not be working for a few hours in his life, he ended up wandering around town aimlessly as people tend to do.

And he was also listening to music, as people tended to do as well, so to block out the noise of the town. Sometimes you just had to be completely oblivious to your surroundings.

Which usually proved to be a disaster around here, but sometimes you just had to not care about that, too.

Lucy was engrossed in being a good girl, which at that moment holding Mama's hand and not running off. They were Shopping, shopping for clothes, because apparently Lucy couldn't continue to wear her elaborate and multi-layered outfit, and Mama didn't like Lucy's boots at all. She said they would chafe. Lucy had offered to let Mama wear her boots, but Mama had said no.

This was puzzling. Lucy liked her boots.

The trip would have continued to be uneventful, except, well. Lucy claimed she was a dragon, and dragons had hoards, and she was missing part of hers. Missing part of her hoard, can you imagine the indignity? Imagine if she met another dragon and had to say "Oh I only have some of my hoard, the rest walked away!"

It would be terrible.

So when she happened to see part of her missing hoard walking down the street, of course Lucy had to go claim it.

"Lucretzia," yelled Mama, her voice shrill and carrying. But the little girl had already run into Lind, or more properly, Lind's leg. She wrapped both arms around it and held on for dear life. No way was her hoard going anywhere.

"My hoard," Lucy asserted when Mama caught up; "This is my missing hoard!"

The redheaded woman looked exasperated, but her smile came back easily because this was adorable. "Sorry about that," she said to Lind. "Are you hurt?"

Lind, meanwhile, was still engrossed in his music and watching that person over there who looked really weird and was doing something strange with a bucket. So really, he was taken by complete surprise when he found himself with something running into him and then not letting go of him.

Really now.

Why is everyone always running into him? Does he have a person magnet in him or something? With the rate that people seem to do that, he really should pay more attention. Next time they might be able to be a bit taller than his legs and he wouldn't be able to get away quite as easily. As it was, though, it was just the leg for now.

He lifted his leg up to get a better look at the thing, before hearing the word 'hoard' in between words of the song. Oh. Right. Pause was pushed as he gave the girl another look, finding her familiar, and the hoard bit was familiar and, oh.

"...Luuu...cy?" At least, he thinks it was Lucy. It might not have been. And what are you talking about, this was not adorable ever you are wrong. "I'm uh...Yeah. I'm fine."

The blonde child flared her wings out, expression deadpan as she clung tighter to Lind's leg. "Mama, leggo! He's my hoard!"

"Oh, you know her?" Maria let go of Lucretzia, who promptly stopped squirming and sat, quite quiescently, on Lind's foot. "Hmm. I don't remember meeting such a handsome young man." She took on a mock-stern tone, tapping her daughter's head and continuing, "Lucy, have you been wandering around with your father again?"

The answer was prompt and vehement: "No, Mama, I met Lind with Miss Guin."

Duh was the silent addendum.

Well. This was. ...Well. He didn't even know. He honestly thought that she would have forgotten or wasn't serious about the whole hoard thing, because, to be perfectly honest, he had forgotten about it by now. The fact that he couldn't really get out of this situation without punting a little girl off of him just made this all so much more hiiiilarious.

His foot, however, was perfectly fine, by the way. Thank you whoever invented steel-toed boots.

"Yeah, she, um..." Really, this was incredibly awkward. Trying to explain to a mother (figure) why her small daughter was clinging to a (mostly) grown male's leg was...really something he wasn't planning on doing any time soon. "...hoarded me at a Halloween thing at the library."

"So, you're Lind? Nice to meet you." Maria smiled. She seemed all right with Lucy sitting on the elder Herald's foot--as long as it wasn't a stranger, why not? How was what her daughter was doing different from what she did to certain family friends? Of course, she never sat on Archer. She just... Irritated him. Kept him on his toes.

Lucy did not look like she was going anywhere. "With Miss Guin," she added insistently, with heavy emphasis, to Lind's explanation. "Miss Guin is my hoard too."

Which, as far as she was concerned, made Lind doubly hers. Meanwhile, her mother was introducing herself--"My name is Maria," she said, "Were you terribly busy?"

Well. He didn't really know what she did to certain family friends, for all he knew this was her way of saying hello. Which would be strange, but stranger things have happened.

"Oh, yeah," Right. Wake up. Back to earth. Get with the program. "Nice to meet you, too." His hand automatically went out for a handshake. "And no, not until later."

....wait, how did that make him doubly hers? "Are you trying to hoard everything?" It just made no sense. What would she do with a hoard of Heralds?
It would be a silly hoard. One that indeed has a tendency of walking off.
