Witchcraft. The use or practice of magic. Witchcraft takes various forms. Casting spells, divination, many healing techniques, as well as various other practices fall under witchcraft. Of course, there was always talk of 'good' magic and 'bad' magic, but that was actually false. The truth is that there were those who used magic for the good of humanity, and others who used it in the opposite manner. Over time, these factions became known as the Sentient and the Hidden.
Most know the history of witches, from the Reformation to the Salem Witch Trials, witches and warlocks have been a phenomenon in stories, movies and the all popular holiday of Halloween. What people don't know is the truth about such magic wielding individuals. Take the Salem Witch Trials, for example. During that time, many of the Hidden had disguised themselves as humans, some even as influential roles, such as priests and mayors. They kept secrets; knowledge of the world and its truths away from humans to further empower themselves, and keep the humans living in a world of judgment and despair. When they found out about the witches, known as the Sentient, that were moving from town to town spreading the knowledge that they had worked so hard on suppressing, they only had one solution: Exterminate them before they ruined everything. Devising a plan, the Hidden set out to find a set of young girls, making them believe if they didn't do as they said, they would be punished by God. So, in turn they made everyone believe that the women, who happened to be members of the Sentient, were hurting and possessing them by means of black magic. The Sentient, of course, knew the identity of those who disguised themselves as humans, and knew that spilling the truth to them would do nothing to help or save them.
Ever since, the Sentient and the Hidden have been great enemies, both wielding powers, yet both having extremely different causes on Earth. Now, the fight is as tense as it has ever been, and now that some humans question the 'traditional', it's becoming harder for the Hidden to mask the Sentient's words as false. Still, there are those who are skeptical, scared of the truth and what it will cause. As times progress, humans may start to take sides and cease to hide behind their knowledge of a normal world. What will become of humanity? Only time can tell.((Not my best plot writing, forgive me ^^"))

If you have any questions, please PM me and I'll gladly add the information here. The SentientDue to the masculine society of centuries ago, this group mostly consists of females. Of course, now, in the more modern days, males have been known to be a part of the Sentient.
The Sentient, although viewed by most of the public as evil creatures only there to cause destruction, they are completely the opposite. As their magic was passed down to them from generations, also has their knowledge of the world and its secrets. Wherever they go, they try to spread the universal truths to the unsuspecting humans, who have been heavily guarded and misguided by the Hidden.
The Sentient as a whole are completely outspoken. They usually make no move to hide themselves from the 'mortal' world, and the same goes for their magic abilities. Of course, there are many things they keep a secret to better the fate of humanity, yet they spread just as much knowledge around to any human suspicious enough to listen.
Their only true enemies are the Hidden, whom they think are cowards for hiding amongst the humans, keeping the societies of man ill-minded and weak. As well as spreading knowledge, many of the Sentient find that getting rid of or converting members of the Hidden is also a duty of theirs. Fighting with their enemies is the only serious violence they exhibit, and even then they tend to keep it under wraps from the human race. The HiddenOn the contrary to the Sentient, the Hidden are composed mostly of males, yet females have recently been known to be a part of this group.
Unlike the Sentient, the Hidden.. well, hide their existence from the mortal world. They use their magical and social influence to keep the human race on a roller coaster ride through the devastation of failure and the greed of success. They, too, know the wondrous secrets of the Earth, yet instead of sharing their knowledge with the human race, they horde it. They only enjoy watching humans squandering without a care in the world, ignorant to everything around them, while the Hidden remain superior; only bettering themselves with their knowledge and secrets.
Disguising themselves as humans, the Hidden strictly keep the knowledge of their abilities and status out of reach from the human race. This doesn't mean they completely exclude themselves from normal human activities. In fact, they may act as bold and brash or as shy or serious as they want; anything to blend in with their human peers.
Although they differ extraordinarily from the Sentient, one thing they have in common is the violence factor. Like everything else, they must hide their identities from the humans, which means when they find themselves ready for a quarrel with a member of the Sentient, they also like to keep it under wraps. There is less use to the Hidden to try and convert the Sentient, seeing as they want all of the world's knowledge and secrets for themselves, and the more individuals that know, the less power each member of the Hidden has. So, although few may try to convert a Sentient, most just try to exterminate them.HumansThe humans are exactly what they sound like. Of course, they are not to be underestimated. Although they don't have any magical abilities, there are few who have knowledge of the magic world, particularly the Hidden.
Through Sentient word and their own suspicion, they may find out about the Hidden. Some may even align themselves with the Sentient, others with the Hidden, even if they most likely do not know anything about their abilities.
They have their strength and intuition, some may even carry weapons. Underestimated by the world of magic, once the humans catch on, they may be a force to be reckoned with.MagicAs long as the intent is clear, a Witch or Warlock can speak any word to do magic. There is no set vocabulary to remember. It is, however, much easier to master an ability if they stick with the same word for the same spell, rather than changing it.
There are other kinds of magic than elemental, which is the most destructive. There is light, dark, and pure energy as well. Other, more delicate spells can be used to enchant objects or to make potions. All forms of magic can be performed by both members of the Hidden and the Sentient. The stereotype of dark magic only belonging to the 'bad' guys and light magic belonging to the 'good' guys is totally false here.
The older the witch or warlock, the easier it is for them to do magic. Skill is much more properly attained with age, but that doesn't mean every spell always turns out perfect. It also doesn't mean that every young witch can't pull off a spell either. In fact, the youngest of witches are more unruly. When they become of age, they're magic usually comes in wild, sporadic bursts, witch is why they undergo training as soon as they can.
Magic is not spontaneously generated, it is inherited from mother to child. Males and females can both inherit magic abilities, though it can only be passed down by females. This explains the fact that there are long, and old family lines with magic abilities. Of course, everything has its end, and although witches have there ways of keeping in their youth and outlasting centuries, the average lifespan of a witch or warlock is about six hundred years.
With old age comes old magic, and old magic doesn't mix well with technology. Older witches and warlocks tend to live in the past. Cars work, but car trouble is normal, especially with newer vehicles. Appliances, radios, televisions, light bulbs and the like all quit working in a varying amount of time, depending on each witch or warlock.

SentientsOnly 4 spots left!Name: Christabel Tribeca Gender: Female Age: 313 Appearance: Christa Personality: Christa is a big ball of energy, always sneaking around, scampering about. For a witch over three hundred years old, she's quite full of life. Christa is knowledgeable, yet for some reason her actions are quite childish. Light-hearted and optimistic are two words to describe her, always finding some way to enjoy the moment. The only time she transitions into feelings of stubbornness and anger is when she encounters a member of the Hidden. It is then that her serious and insightful behavior comes into view. Biography: Christa has always been a happy girl. Maybe it was because her grandmother was one of the few who escaped from the Salem Witch Trials with her life, or maybe it was because her childhood was carefree and she was lucky to have what her ancestors never had. Either way, Christa lived her life in travel, moving from town to town as her family spread their words of knowledge unto the human society. Of course, times couldn't always be happy. A couple encounters with the Hidden and Christa was quickly exposed to violence and death, and she quickly learned to despise those who hurt her family and friends. Years passed as she practiced honing her power over wind, gearing up to be able to fight the Hidden when needed. She'd need those skills when she went on to do what her mother and father had started. Powers: Christa is quite handy with brewing potions and enchanting, but her real forte comes in the form of wind. Weapons: Christa channels her magic through a ruby encrusted, silver ring on her right pointer finger, allowing her to simply.. point when committing to a spell. As well as her beloved broom, decorated at the brim of the bristles by a red ribbon tied in a bow. Her power over wind allows her to take flight on the object, similar to the renowned rumor. Other Info: Christa is easily won over by baked goods. Username: Skunk BlossomsHiddenOnly 4 spots left!Name: Zeroki Arbalan Gender: Male Age: 219 Appearance: Pic. At a glance, Zeroki appears quite lankey with a tall, thin build. However, countless years living among the humans have hardened his body. His hands are well-calloused and rugged, and his dark hair is in a constant state of untidyness, usually just hanging infront of his face. His eyes are as green as a shining emerald, a trait of the Arbalan family Profession: Zeroki is a skilled tracker, and his marksmanship rivals that of the best archers in the land. He is often hired to track and kill game when others are incapible. Personality: When dealing with humans, Zeroki can be cold and rather harsh. His job as a hunter is nothing more than an excuse to remain as far away from them as possible. With other magic-users, he becomes a little more relaxed. He tends not to get tied up in the conflict with The Sentient, and usually only responds with violence if he or his family is in danger. Biography: The Arbalan bloodline runs back ages, and it's influance in the world was once unmatched. All this changed rather abruptly during the dark years of the Salem Wich Trials. The event had sparked similar trials worldwide, and the Arbalan family had been devastated to the point where only a fiew households remain. Zeroki, his mother, and his two sisters had been lucky in that they had survived. Now, Zeroki has joined ranks with the Hidden, determined to undermine any and every action the humans make agenst what remains of his family. Powers: The Arbalan clan has a rather unique spell that has been passed down for generations. It is similar to a spell that gives an inanimate object life, only this spell gives life to the shadows surrounding the user. A form of shadowmancery, the user can then bend darkness to his or her will, often with amaizing, and rather terrifying results. Weapons: Zeroki feels using weapons in combat is far too ineffective, and only carries his bow when out hunting. Username: Zero4268HumansOnly 4 spots left!Name: Adrienne Mia Rose Gender: Female Age: Nineteen [19] Appearance: Adrienne Rose Profession: Secretary at a Law Firm Personality: Adrienne has an overall strong and independent personality. She is aggressive, original, adventurous and argumentative just to enjoy a debate. Her sense of humor is often dry and unusual. She is forward, to the point, out-spoken, and usually has a desire to control her surroundings. Adrienne is strong willed and determined, which makes her dominate and passionate. Curious by nature, she likes to uncover things under the surface of others. When wronged, Adrienne does not easily forgive. Biography: Adrienne was born and raised in a small quiet town, where magic had yet to be known. Her mother was an owner of a small, but popular flower shop and her father as a residence doctor. Adrianne was very close with her mother, but felt very distant towards her father after her fifth birthday. She figured out why when she turned six. She wasn't a witch. Children with magical abilities settle in at a very young age. When her father found out that Adrianne took on her mothers human state, he was...disappointed, to say the least. That's right. Her father was a warlock. A very powerful one at that. He met Adrianne mother and instantly fell for her, not caring that she was a mere human. He did not think that the human 'trait' will pass on to his children. Needless to say, Adrienne rarely spoke to him, but she studied the Magical arts like it was air. She made sure she knew basic spells and the rituals and the history behind witches and warlocks. As the years went by, Adrianne was finally allowed to visit her cousins from her fathers side, who welcomed her with no hesitation. Her uncles, however, also shared her fathers dislike for her. It was when she was eighteen that she moved into the city, where she continued to go to school and landed herself a job at a well known law firm. Weapons: Switchblade tucked in her boot. A small dagger Username: Chuzuka

┏☆𝖈𝖍𝖗𝖎𝖘𝖙𝖆𝖇𝖊𝖑☆𝖙𝖗𝖎𝖇𝖊𝖈𝖆☆┓------------The not so wicked witch...After the sun had disappeared over the horizon and the colors of dusk were settling in the sky above the the city, the beginning buzz of the nightlife began to awaken. While small shop workers and business practices were closing up and shutting down for the evening, lights were turned on, highlighting the club and bar district in the city, proceeding to show that other places, such as restaurants and art galleries were still being occupied with no intention of closing so soon, when the city's twilight-loving denizens returned from their slumber and work. It was an unintentionally lovely place, bustling with life day in and out. Of course, as any other city, this one had its ups and downs. The stingy, the homeless, the jerks, perverts and downright evil inhabitants taking place as they should, their opposites doing just the same. To sum it up, life was proceeding as usual. Or so it seemed.
As the city's inhabitants continued in their life pursuits, they would have no idea of what was about to disrupt their developed normalizations. A few miles off from the edge of town, where the city streets faded away into grassy, foliage covered hills, atop which the forest's edge began, something approached. Rustling through the thin, spiny branches covered with leaves, a smooth, pale hand made the city below viewable to it's owner and those following. Bright green eyes blinked ferociously numerous times before snapping the branch back into place. The blond, curly-haired female turned to face the others, a smile ensuing on her face that caused more lips to upturn, including those of one girl, whose hair was pulled back into a long, twisting braid, almost entirely black except for the red-colored bangs that hung and curled around her face. The young-looking girl blinked her red eyes in excitement as the blond spoke happily, "We're here!"
Clapping lightly, the girl almost skipped passed the green-eyed witch, clearing the stubborn foliage with a small gust of wind produced from a simple point from her forefinger. Though the others may have varied in levels of excitement, they followed; soon every witch and warlock belonging to this particular group of Sentients stood atop a high hill, overlooking the bright lights of the city and the unimaginable view of the skyline; the colors of the sky making the sight almost like a dream.
"Alright, you all know how this works! Split up and spread out, tell any humans who are willing to listen of our knowledge. Try to find any Sentient members that belong to this city, though it may be quite hard if they've been living in the same place for a long period of time.. Beware of the Hidden, as well. If they are nonviolent, you may pursue them with caution, otherwise, steer clear unless it is absolutely necessary," the blond quickly said, the others nodding before walking in different directions down the hills and towards the city. Before the red and black haired girl could run off, the blond grabbed her with a firm hand by her bare shoulder, "Christa, I want you to scope out the city for me, if you find anything..." she paused, giving her a knowing look, "You know how to find me," she said, quickly tapping the ruby encrusted ring on Christa's finger before walking off herself.
Christa watched the green-eyed woman leave before grinning to herself, taking the broom that had been gripped in her left hand into both and hopping on with glee. Before a giggle could even escape her mouth, she was up in the air; her power over wind allowing her to fly on her broom as she did. As one delicate, pale hand stayed on the handle of the broom, the other quickly shot up to secure the over-sized black and red pointy hat on her head. As she flew over the tall buildings of the city, she circled wide; a quick, dark silhouette in the hazy colored sky. Red orbs squinting happily at the thought of this new city. The last one had worked out so well, but with every city, the outcomes varied. Plus the fact that this city was sufficiently larger than the previous one meant more inhabitants, which meant a bigger chance for run-ins with the Hidden.
Christa's mind was in an optimistic state, though, so any thoughts of bad experiences to come were quickly suppressed in her childish mind. Descending quickly, she landed with astonishing grace on a side-street with only a couple humans walking by, engulfed by newspapers and music from iPods to the point where they hadn't even noticed her entrance. Holding up her broom in her left hand once again, she pointed at it with her forefinger, "And.. voila!" she exclaimed happily, watching as the broom rapidly sped off into the sky until it couldn't be seen.
With a soft smile, Christa proceeded on, clad in a simple, sleeveless, tight black mini dress and shiny black flats; a thin ribbon wrapped around her neck and tied into a quick bow. It was quite warm for a September night, and either way Christa wouldn't have paid much thought to it. Pacing down the sidewalk and turning a couple corners, the thin witch found herself staring right into the window of a shop called 'Seven Rays'. Suppressing her urge to press her hands up on the glass on peer inside, Christa quickly walked inside, a bell ringing above the door as she did so.
Inside it smelled of burnt incense and old parchment; a bookshop of sorts, though it had jewelery, religious items, tarot cards, and Wicca paraphernalia in sight. As she stepped further into the shop, a soft, furry feeling rubbed against her leg. As she stared down, a grin graced her lips as she saw a gray tabby cat twisting around her feet. Bending down to pet it, she looked around, noticing that no one was in sight, not even behind the register.

[~-Adrienne Mia Rose-~] ✖✖✖----------------------------------------------------------------✖✖✖ ❀__I will figure this out. In the heart of the brightly lit city stood one of the largest buildings in the entire area. It was called the C.O Law, one of the most prestigious law firms known. Also the most expensive. Faint footsteps, and the sounds of fading conversations echoed throughout the main office of the law firm, indicating the end of a workday. Doors were being lockes, and lights being turned off. Plans were being made for the night and answering machines were being hooked. It was a ... somewhat normal routine that went on around the firm.
"Goodnight Adrienne!"
Behind a large front desk that stood right at the entrance of the thirtheth floor a sat a petite dark haired woman who glanced over her shoulder, a smile already forming on her lips as she lifted her hand in a parting wave.
"Goodnight."
Adrienne Mia Rose, a nineteen year old secretary who has yet to figure out the reason she got hired. She`s been working at the firm for awhile now and she had been recently getting loaded with minor cases that allowed her to get a glimpse of the life of a lawyer. Which was great except for the fact that it kept her up an extra three hours. Squirming at her desk, she waited until she heard the door behind her click shut before letting out a stressed sigh. Adrienne lifted her arms and stretched, her muscles creaking in protest before relaxing. She had to get out of here before she goes crazy. Glancing at the clutter that piled around, she got to her feet, pushing the chair back with a screech.
Gathering her papers, she piled them up into one stack before glancing out the large window that made up the side wall. A sigh left her lips, the city was so beautiful at night, so filled will life. Her smile faded just like the appreciation in her gaze. With life, come secrets and she wondered how long it will take for the Hidden to lose theirs. Adrienne walked over to the back of the door where her coat was hanging and took a hold of it, pushing her arms through the sleeves. Tying the belt that sat around her waist, she wrapped a white scarf around her neck. It wasn`t cold out, but even a light breeze brought shivers. Adrienne quickly walked to the desk, her heeled boots making noises against the wood floors as she did so. Gathering the folders that held all the cases, she went through one of the drawers and grabbed her keys before heading towards the elevators. Adrienne had to repeat the alphebet twice and a half before she finally hit ground floor.
Stepping out of the steel box, she bid farewell to the door men before walking through the spinning doors. Another day gone, another night beginning. Joy. ❀If it's the last thing I do. __✖✖✖----------------------------------------------------------------✖✖✖

The slums of the city hardly changed from day to night. There were still gangs patrolling the streets, still fires being lit for warmth, still children with nothing to do but wander the dark alleyways. Life as usual, in the poorest part of town. People too focused on their own survival to notice a more unusual presence at work.
Zeroki felt the cool night breeze cascade ofer him like water as he lept again. He hung in the air for what seemed like hours, his every sense taking in the details of the city that sprawled out hundreds of feet beneath him. He landed onto the opposite rooftop with bearly a sound, tucking into a tight roll to preserve his momentum, before reaching the far roofline and throwing himself into the air once more.
To Zeroki, these nights spent free-running were liberating. This was his city. He was the one who had spent years learning it's ebb and flow, regardless of what the ignorant humans beneath him thought. Up here, he could be free from the conflict, free from dealing with those foolish monkeys. Up here, he was king...
A scent suddenly caught his nose. It was a strange, yet somewhat familiar smell, carried faintly on the wind. Zeroki landed with a dull thud on the corner of the roof of a large apartment complex, crouched like some sinister gargoyle with his hood pulled over his head to mask his features from any who happened to see him. He sat there for a moment, piecing together what that smell was, where it had come from, it's concentration in the air...
In an instant he was off again, this time in the opposite direction, twards the outskirts of the city. It was magic he had smelled, and any thoughts of freedom he had vanished, only to be replaced with the knowlage that he and his family were now in danger. The Sentient had found his city...

┏☆𝖈𝖍𝖗𝖎𝖘𝖙𝖆𝖇𝖊𝖑☆𝖙𝖗𝖎𝖇𝖊𝖈𝖆☆┓------------The not so wicked witch..."Helloooo?" Christa called out, sounding similar to a ten-year old child, "Anybody in here?" she asked, not receiving an answer. Running a pale hand through the gray tabby's fur one last time she stood back up straight and shrugged to herself; finding that she was presumably alone in the shop, she let her curiosity take full control. Big, red eyes were open wide as she went up to a glass jewelery counter in the center of the room, scanning the stones and colored glass in baskets set on top, while other collectibles like jade and quartz stone necklaces and rings were placed behind the glass. Nick knacks decorated the counter, some meant for selling, others just for viewing, but all were interesting. Buddha's, dragons, Hindu goddesses; pieces of religion, folklore and more. Christa picked up a large, smooth stone from one of the baskets and rolled it in her fingers with a meek smile before placing it back and turning to look around some more.
Through a different doorway that was lined with hanging, wooden beads, Christa found an average sized room with walls lined with bookcases, some smaller shelves lined in between. As she passed through the door, a stray hand ran across some hanging, ornate shawls, silky to the touch, and peered around the room. She quickly walked to the Wicca section, almost as if she had already been there times before, and scanned the large selection. Books, big and small, caught her eye, yet most she giggled at, finding them funny and ignorant to the truth about those such as herself. Of course, there were a few volumes that interested her, and she plucked them from the shelves with haste, bringing them back into the main room with the register.
Still finding no one in sight, she set the books on the counter and moved to a different section of books in the main room. These were all folklore and novels, and she smiled at the ones with pictures of fairies and other mythical creatures. As she rounded the corner into another aisle, she quickly found herself bumping into a solid mass and steadying herself as she stumbled back. Looking up, she saw a man, mid-twenties, with brown, mousy hair almost as long as her own, "Oh, sorry!" she squeaked, putting her hands up in a 'I didn't mean any harm' gesture. The man smiled back politely and said, "Don't mention it.. Can I help you with anything?" Quickly remembering her books she nodded, pointed to the counter, and followed him as he walked over to the register to ring her up. "That'll be.." than man started, but Christa quickly slid him a hundred-dollar bill with a smile, "Keep the change!" she exclaimed, grabbing the books and practically skipping out of the store.
Christa's smile soon faded as she caught a scent right when she stepped foot on the sidewalk. She looked up with a strange look in her crimson eyes, and not a moment later did she see a figure in the distance jumping from one roof to another and then disappearing. It was not one of her own kind.. No, she knew what it was. Bring her fingers up to her mouth and whistling, a whizzing sound became louder and louder until her broom flew right into her outstretched hand. Setting her books down on the sidewalk, she jumped on, figuring she could grab them later if no one stole them, and began her pursuit of the faraway figure. All the while, the man from the store, mouth ajar, watched through the window at the generous witch, running out of the store to watch as she disappeared from his view.
It had seemed she had lost sight of the figure, though his scent was still strong in the air. She wanted no conflict, it was her curiosity that controlled her now. And even so, the others would want to know whether this Hidden was violent or no threat to their cause. Either way, Christa wanted to find out where this guy went.

Pale green eyes watched from the darkness as the witch flew past. Zeroki had slid himself inside the open window of one of the meany abandoned buildings and dissapearing from view. He remained frozen on all fours on the sill, crouched like a cat stalking it's prey.
Behind those eerie green eyes, Zeroki's mind was reeling with questions. He had not dealt with the Sentient before, only knowing of them from the stories his mother had taught him. He knew not their intentions, only that their goal was to uplift the humans with knowlage. He knew instantly that this would put him and his family in danger...
Closing his eyes in focus, he muttered a fiew words in a language long forgotten by most. The shadows surrounding him seemed to swell, becoming darker and solid as they were filled with arcane power. They slid with him, masking his movements like a second skin as he crawled back out of the window. He resumed his following of the witch, this time making it a point to keep to the shadows and stay hidden...
