This begins as a log for Fauzi and Adejola
PostPosted: Sat Jan 09, 2010 2:52 pm

Fauzi leaped from patch to patch of yellow grass, trailing behind his father. The warmth and light of the sun was almost overbearing for the pup. He jumped up, startled by an insect that flew past. The blue pup pounced at it, but his grace had failed him and he hurt his paw as he landed. He yelped, looking up to make sure his father hadn't heard. Fauzi wondered if Ade realized he had followed him out of the den.

Adejola was bouncing along, pausing here and there to sniff at a flower. His life had been extremely busy since his pups arrived, but he couldn't complain. Wouldn't complain. Any work he had to do as a father was made up by the simple fact that he was a father. Thus, with his new, ultra alert father ears, it wasn't hard to catch the soft yelp that he recongized as one of his own. The male turned quickly and headed back the way he had come, his yellow eyes widening in concern as he loped over to his blue and white son. "What's the matter, Fauzi? Did you hurt yourself?" He asked, nuzzling the young boy's head. Yep. Definetely busy.

"No!" Fauzi stuck his tail up and straightened himself out. "I din' hurt myself. The ground hurt me." The blue pup hobbled across the dirt, trying to act as graceful as he could. The sting in his ankle kept him from being sucessful, and the limp turned into a pathetic hop. "The ground is always hurtin me." A pout formed across his face, but with such little attention span, it quickly vanished. "So, whatcha doin out here papa?"

Ade couldn't help cracking a smile. "The ground hurt you? Really?" He sighed softly, again nuzzling the boy. He gently sniffed at Fauzi's ankle before sitting down in front of the pup. "Me? I'm just seeing if there are some pretty flowers around. Your mom loves flowers. Don't you know?" His eyes watched the other brightly before he lightly pushed the pup down. "How about we try to sit a bit since the grounds mad at you. Don't want to risk it hurting you again, right?"

"Yeah it did, really. Smacked me right in the paw." Fauzi tilted his head. "Flowers are kinda borin'...-" Fauzi flopped over as Ade pushed him, his red eyes widening in sudden fear at the ground. He stared at the dirt intently, unmoving from his flopped position. "Why is it mad at me?" He whispered, fearful of angering it again. "Maybe I shouldn't walk on it so much."

He winced, realizing that he'd made a new father mistake. Now how could he fix it? Hmm... "No, no. It's not that it's really mad at you. I think you just landed too hard when you jumped." Ade said quickly, frowning as he nuzzled Fauzi and tried to calm him. "What I mean is, you shouldn't be walking on your paw if it hurts. Let it heal a little bit first." He finally said with a soft sigh, wagging his tail hesitantly. The wild dog suddenly giggled, trying to switch the subject. "Flowers are boring huh? Well what would you give your mom instead?"

Fauzi slowly brought his gaze to meet Ade's eyes as he spoke. His stare became blank as he tried to comprehend everything that his father was telling him. He had so many questions, so many things he didn't understand. Just as he was about to spew questions, Fauzi was torn away from his thoughts. Ade's giggle brightened the pup's face, and he perked up. "That thing that jumped up and made me fall! That's what I would get her. I bet it would have been fun to play with." His eyes squinted in the direction that the insect disappeared.

The wild dog grinned, "A bug? Hmm... I suppose that could work." He stood happily, his tail wagging quickly. "Maybe we could find her a cricket! Then it could jump around and she could jump around too." Ade looked just like a pup as he quickly nodded, grinning widely. "What do you think? Should we find her a cricket?" That be fun. And maybe he could give a mini hunting lesson.

"Yeah! I wanna see mom hop around like a cricket!" Fauzi laughed as the image flickered into his mind. "That would be fun!" He jumped to his paws, failing to hold back a cringe as pain jolted though his ankle. He paused, quickly shaking it off. "Let's go find one!" He tried to prance in circles, but it ended up being more of a lame hobble.

Adejola frowned in concern. "How badly does your ankle hurt?" He asked softly, walking over to nuzzle his son. He didn't want Fauzi to wander around if it hurt him to walk. Gently, he lifted the pup up by the scruff of his neck and set him atop a boulder near by. "We can go look for a cricket later. Maybe you should rest for a bit, sweetie." He wasn't a medic. He didn't know how to fix an ankle! The new dad frowned, licking the top of his son's head.

"Don't worry, Papa. It doesn't hurt that bad." Fauzi allowed his father to lift him, going limp as he was carried away from the dirt. He squirmed closer to Adejola as he was placed on the boulder, nuzzling into him. "Mom's gunna love the cricket when we get it for her." He sighed dreamily, eyes fluttering. "I love mama. I love you too, papa."

He licked at Fauzi's head some more. "You promise that if it gets to hurt too bad you'll tell me? Then I'll carry you from there, okay? I don't want you to keep walking if it hurts." Adejola frowned lightly, worry filling his eyes. He was just a new father. He didn't want to have to worry about his kids already. At his son's words, the pup-like wild dog couldn't help a warm smile. "I love you too, Fauzi." He smiled and snuggled against the smaller canine, nuzzling him. "Now let's go find that cricket." He gently lifted Fauzi up and then gently set the pup down on the ground again. "Let's go then."

"Where can we look for crickets? Have I ever seen one before? Do they hop really high?" Fauzi pelted his father with questions, mostly just talking to himself out loud. "Are they really pretty or really ugly?" The instant he felt dirt beneath his paws, he began to prance around. "We should find the prettiest one ever. Mom's pretty, so she can hop pretty like the cricket!" Each question and thought distracted him from the last one. "We should give it a name! We should name it something pretty!" His eyes got wide, and he paused in mid-prance. If there was any more pain in his ankle, he didn't notice it. "Is... is that a cricket? Right there?"

Ade giggled, his thoughts moving just as quickly as his sons. "They're in the grass. You have. Yes. Kinda in between. Yes the prettiest one around. A name would be nice. SOMETHING VERY PRETTY!" His tail wagged and he bounced in place, just as excited as the young pup. This was so exciting! His son and him, just out having fun together. His worry about Fauzi's ankle was mostly gone now and he glanced around for a cricket. At the youngster's question, he paused, leaning down so that his head was right next to Fauzi's and his gaze was going the same way. It didn't take long for his yellow eyes to focus on the small insect. "Yep! That's one! Let's get it! Just make sure you don't squish it, okay?"
