Ever since his... little outing at the old mortuary, the pumpkin demon had become fascinated with the dead. And the reason why he was forcing his older brother to take him to the nearby cemetery during his usual outings. The nearby churches had already specified that he wasn't allowed inside, claiming he wasn't welcome.
Pfft, they were just a bunch of pricks anyways. Besides, seeing the look on people's face at the site of a little demon prowling around always gave him the most delightful scream in response.
From behind a larger oak tree, tail flicking back and forth, Azrael had watched as a larger casket was lowered into the ground the covered with dirt. Now, all that was left were a few stragglers saying their final goodbyes, plus the gravediggers putting the finishing touches on the grave. The snow all around them was painted a vivid orange-red, looking like it was on fire from the setting sun. His pale purple nose wrinkled, wishing they had left already.
"Stupid people..." he sighed, glancing back at the rest of the cemetery in hopes of finding someone else to scare.

It wasn't said that the Delauney family wasn't related to the deceased. As far as everyone knew, they were work buddies, but the truth was that Adrian had been preying on the family ever since his trip to Gaia. The church was much to sanctioned for them to be in, so the father/daughter pair waited outside until the precidings.
Deirdre fidgeted. "Papa, why no up cwose? I wanna see da deadie!" She pouted. Why did they have to stand back while everyone else got the good seats?
Adrian looked down. The height difference between daughter and father always threw him for a loop. "Because we're not in mourning. You can see a deadie when we get home." He looked stoically back to the crowd.
The young princess huffed. She could ALWAYS see a deadie at home. Putting her hands on her hips, Deirdre took an about face away from her stupid papa. She saw a patch of wild roses and wobbled over, flopping down in the grass to play with the thorns.

Azrael frowned, watching as a younger girl, probably younger than himself, wandered over to a small patch of roses. She seemed to be the least perturbed out of the entire group of mourners. Even her father, or so he assumed, looked more bored than anything else.
Well, at least there was someone he could talk to that wouldn't call his mom and force him to go home. Wandering over, orange eyes peered at the girl closely. "Who you?" he asked, suddenly noticing horns and claws among her features. Well... That wasn't entirely expected.

Deirdre looked up curiously and blinked. She'd seen other children at the funeral, but they were all crying and didn't look like him. She grinned, flashing her fangs. "Deidre." The infant pronounced it like Dedra with a Europeon accent. "Wha' bout chu?"
Her eyes saw his ears and tail, with the cute little pumpkin on the end. At last they landed on his wings. "Momma hav' wi'gs when fee mad." Mentally she was imagining how her mother took off the castle terrace's like a gargoyle. "Chu demon?"

Azrael grinned widely. Ah, so he had chosen well in following the little girl. "Azrael, an' yes I'm a demon," he replied, fluttering his wings a bit as she mentioned them. Deidre was definitely the observant one, and she figured out what he was without him having to explain. So, she either had demonic parents or was part one herself. Or both, which would mean he would have to be wary of her father.
He seriously disliked parents. They made things far to difficult for him. "You one too?" Azrael questioned, glancing at the roses and back to the nice little fangs the girl sported.

Deirdre's smile brightened. She'd never got to meet a little demon before, so that made him extra cool. "I'mma half of a half. Momma a hybwed. Part vampy, part demon!" The infant puffed out her chest proudly. "Daddy's a vampy Lord." A thorn pricked her finger, causing her to wince. The little peddle of blood never made it to the ground. "Nummy!" She stuck her finger in her mouth and suckled happily, giggling around her finger.
"Wanna fwower? Dey give fwee food."

Azrael instantly found Deidre to be extra cool. She was half demon and half VAMPIRE. Those things were cool... when they didn't sparkle anyways. And her father was apparently a vampire LORD. Now that was insanely awesome. Yet, when she pricked her finger and proceeded to lick away the blood, he couldn't help but wrinkle his nose.
"Not really... I'm not a big fan of blood," he replied softly, wondering what exactly she found so delicious about it. To him, it tasted too much like metal for him to even consider liking it anyways.

Azrael's coolness dropped ten points the moment he wrinkled his nose. Deirdre licked her finger and sat it back down with a little frown before passing it off. Maybe full demons didn't need the blood. She'd just have to learn!
"Too bad." She said in a sing song voice before woddling up, clutching her rose in her hand before handing it out to him. "How 'bout a fwower? It's tinda dirty." She'd tried to smooth the blood out, but a stain remained on the stem.

Azrael took the flower carefully, ignoring the slight blood-stain on it. "Thanks. Say, wanna go explorin'? You have no idea what can be found here," he replied, grinning. His tail flicked back and forth, an obvious sign of his excitement. Honestly, the only reason why he ventured to graveyards nowadays was in hopes of having a similar adventure like the one he had gone on with Todd.
Not to mention changing the subject about blood. It made him a little uneasy, since he wasn't an actual demon and more of a demon of pumpkins or whatever.

Deirdre fixed her headband with her tongue stuck out before deeming it fixed. Having one and horns at the same time was trick business! "Sure. Maybe we find a deady." She pointed back to the funeral procession with obvious glee. Of course, even if she didn't find one she'd be happy because cemetaries were her favorite place in the world. "Shh, gotta be sneaky, though or daddy will see."
Unebknownst to her Adrian was close to falling asleep. His head was falling dangerously close to his chest and through the sea of sobbing no one noticed his half-snores.

Azrael grinned at the thought of having to sneak around. He loved sneaking around, although the prospect of finding a dead body wasn't all too pleasing to his young mind. Late-night zombie movies and such probably weren't such a good idea now that he thought about it... But if Ary and Cody could handle them, he could too, right?
"Kay. Follow me," he muttered, instantly spotting the male Deirdre claimed to be her father. He looked like he was falling asleep, to be honest. Oh well, just have to move around in a wider area. Backing away from the roses, the little demon edged around the others and towards where they kept certain dead bodies and the older section of the graveyard. Obviously he had been there many times to know the many pathways over to it... and where the groundskeeper kept the key to things.

Deirdre followed after him eagerly, her mouth partly opened. She'd never snuck away before. At least, not with anyone other than her twin. The tot kept looking over her shoulder, expecting the worst until they were a good distance away from the crowd.
She made a low whistle. "Dis pwace is aw'shum!" Deirdre twirled around in a circling, wobbling on her unsteady legs before hobbling along after her companion. "Where we goin'? Is it fun?" She asked with a smile, tilting her head to the side, blonde hair cupping her chubby cheek.

"We's gonna go see where dey hide th' dead peoples before puttin' dem in th' ground," Azrael replied, grinning broadly at the idea of running around with them. Granted, he didn't exactly realize that the bodies weren't fresh there. Oh, far from that.
"I think anyways. Could be wrong," he added, suddenly realizing he wasn't sure if the bodies in there had recently died or not.

Deirdre smiled happily and kept up, the bounce more apparent in her steps now that ever. "I i'dn't know dey hid-ded dem."
She wasn't sure where she was, but she trusted the lead of the demon. The vampiric hybrid looked down at his little tail and opened her mouth, half tempted to reach out and touch it. "I like 'ur 'ump'ki. 'S cute!"

"They only hide th' cool ones," Azrael replied, pausing when she mentioned the pumpkin on his tail. A prideful look on his face, he flashed Deirdre a grin. "Thanks!" he replied, flicking it back and forth merely for showing-off purposes, of course. Hey, she complimented him and he felt compelled to quest for more.
