Soft clouds of breath floated delicately in front of her face as Luna quietly watched the moon. Her pale, glowing, red eyes were fixated and she payed no mind to the slight shiver that shot down her spine. The fabric laid across her back kept her slightly warm but the wind still chilled her. She didn't care though. She had the moon tonight and that was good enough for her.

She knew the night time was colder than the day, but she couldn't help but to be drawn to the allure and the spell the moon had over her. It called to her and she had not the strength nor the will to deny it. And she was happy like this. The snow around her ankles chilled her slightly and she wished she had some warm grass to stand on. She sighed slightly and reluctantly pulled her gaze from the moon. She looked around her at the glow the moon left on the white snow around her. It bounced off the frozen lake nearby and made it glow with a certain beauty about it. The winter night air was clean and clear, letting every ounce of the moonlight through and the winter world around her welcomed it happily. She smiled and couldn't help but wonder if the winter loved the moon as much as she did.

What did the stars say tonight? His mother believed very strongly that the stars told stories and let her know many things. To Jericho, they only looked like silvery things that were in the sky. It didn't matter how they got there, just that they were there and he couldn't miss them, especially when he was always up at night. His mother's fascination with the galaxy compelled her to travel only at night and sleep during the day. Ever since he was young he went with her and so his body became accustomed to walking around at night, rarely seeing anyone, and going to bed in the wee hours of the morning. Looking back now, darn he missed a lot. No friends, only his mom.

He eyed the stars thoughtfully. His mother used to point out shapes to him and told him where the bright star was, the north star. Her many stories fascinated him as a foal but the art of story-telling was beyond his ability. But he tried, he really did. All he ever got out of it was frustration. It made him feel less connected to his mom, perhaps he was only like his father, whoever he was. Mom never once mentioned him and Jericho knew eventually to stop asking.

Shaking his head, he walked through the snow. The night was cool but coming from the north, he was mostly used to the cold. But some nights were naturally worse than others. His gold eyes flickered back up towards the night sky, looking towards the moon. He was crap with the stars but he couldn't deny the connection he felt towards the moon. There was a definite pull. His ability only worked when the moon was out as well so perhaps there was a connection with that too?

Jericho could only make assumptions, his knowledge of the world was limited. One reason as to why he left home and came out here, to learn more and perhaps finally get some answers to those questions he had. He continued to walk on, thinking. He paused, his head turning to the side. A lake, bad memories there. He grimaced at the memory of falling down on his rump many times. Avoid that completely or go around. Jericho made to turn back around and go back up the hill but he noticed her.

He cocked his head and eyed the shape warily. Looked to be smaller than him but the shape appeared equine. Lady Luck better not be laughing at him, Jericho walked slowly over to the shape. Say hello? He'd wait, observe, see what this thing actually was first before saying the usual.

Luna stood quietly for a moment, enjoying the silence around her. A light breeze shook the branches of the pines nearby and gently lifted the fluffy snow from it's perch. The flakes delicately floated around Luna, and in the moonlight the sparkled brightly. She smiled as the charms in her hair chimed softly and she felt an immense flood of peace around her. Luna could feel the small flakes drift on to her. They sparkled in her dark hair and she smiled at this. As if the moonlight chose her to dance upon. It wasn't until the breeze died that she realized she wasn't alone.

She turned her head to look at the stranger nearby. The moonlight lit his silhouette against the contrasting white snow and she took a few moments to take the sight in. He clearly meant no harm to her, or he would have taken advantage of the moment she didn't know he was there. Besides, he looked friendly enough and from what she could tell at this distance he was handsome as well. She smiled.

"Mayhap the moon above has brought me a visitor tonight." She turned towards him, but didn't approach. It was not in her place to assume he wanted her company.

He lurked behind a tree, watching her. She was similar to him, definitely a horse, but not like him at all. For one, no wings. Albeit, he didn't look much like his mother either. She was peculiar looking. Dark hair with a lighter body, her body carried odd markings, markings which strangely reminded him of the moon. When she turned in his direction, he took in the sash and jewelry. Did she like the moon? She appeared very moon oriented. In looks at least.

He noticed that she didn't turn away from him and from her spoken words, it seemed he had been noticed. Jericho moved away from the tree, slowly approaching. Now that he considered it, he was nervous. This mare was going to be the first he would meet in these new lands and Jericho did want to make a good impression. He didn't want to draw too much attention to himself to the point that he would be avoided and disliked. His mother taught him well, though he had no friends growing up he understood the concept of friendship. Well, he hoped he did.

He reached the mare and bowed in greeting. "Good evening." Jericho looked her over, up from the bottom to the top. He paused at her eyes, odd with the black rimmed around them. But then he wasn't exactly normal either. "Staying out late?" He inquired. Or was she like him? Always up at night.

Luna smiled softly at him. "No, no. I am always awake during the night. Awake with the moon, I suppose you could say." She gave a light chuckle. "My name is Lunatone, but you may call me Luna. You look new to this area. I have never seen you here before." She casually wondered where he was from, wanting to learn more about him.

She could see him more clearly now, and she admired his markings. He was a lot like the sky above them, and even had a rather stunning pair of wings upon his back. They were adorned with trinkets that sparkled in the moonlight, and it was a calming sight to her. It wasn't often she met others during the night, let alone ones she didn't feel threatened by.

Was it so obvious that he was a foreigner? Was she going to question him? He did not want to talk about himself, that wasn't why he came down here. He came to learn, possibly make some acquaintances, and learn some more. Then he would return home, completely satisfied with the experiences he would surely have. Yes, that was the plan. Jericho was determined to stick to it.

If the mare did want to know about him, well, she didn't need the entire story. Bits and pieces mingled with new ideas, it would be perfect. Although, it wasn't very wise to consider doing this, if he did want to get some acquaintances and actually get them to give him information about the lands and its inhabitants. It might not even work. He was crap at storytelling, how could he accomplish something so elaborate? But only one way to find out.

He returned the smile. He was taught to be polite and well-mannered. "As am I, Luna. I enjoy being up at night, to me it is like my day while the day is like my night. So I roam during the night and sleep when the sun comes out." He paused. "But some nights it is too quiet, not many stay out at night." She was the first mare he came across, well the first entirely. He never met another stallion before.

Jericho could feel her looking at him. He had done the same to her. He was intrigued by her, though mostly by her appearance. Her look wasn't what he thought he would find when he came out here. He wondered what she thought of him.

"You like the moon a lot?" Well that was a stupid comment. By the look of her it was obvious.
