Azzo had settled in with his lunch, that his grandma always packed. She didn't want him eating school food. She'd once heard it was a step above dog food (lovely) and wanted to make sure he was getting good food.

Of course knowing his grandma she'd packed way more sweets than she should. When he opened the box, there was his favorite salsa and chips to go with it a sandwich, probably baloney, and a few short cakes (more than he'd ever eat in one sitting).

Azzo had parked himself on the outside walls of the lunch room, in between the lunch line and the doors leading outside. He was facing the whole room so he could observe other people around him. As he set out his lunch and the extra shortcakes that seemed to be offering themselves to whomever wanted one.

From where the puppy-eared boy was sitting, he could easily see a dark-haired girl sitting nearby. She was all by herself and had been nibbling on her tiny cucumber sandwich as if she was some sort of rodent, hardly making a dent in the already small corner cut of bread. She hadn't meant to stare, really she hadn't, but just across the way, this boy had set out his lunch in some sort of informal display. In his stash, there was some sort of pastry.

Yvette loved pastries. Her own lunch was lacking in this department, since her mother did not bake, and they couldn't afford to just buy pastries for her lunch everyday. If they had the money, she was certain that Daddy would INSIST that Yvette have as many pastries as she wanted. Everyday would have shortcake with whipped cream!

She sighed gently into her sandwich between her teeth at that very moment. At least she had a meal, this much she was grateful for. For a moment, she glanced down to her own lunch, which consisted of two small corner cuts of bread with cucumber and some carrot sticks. It might not have seemed like a lot to the average onlooker, but this was more than a satisfactory lunch for the quiet girl. Yvette never had a very strong appetite before. It was one thing both of her parents were grateful for, since it made the food bills much cheaper.

She sighed again before looking back up again, her deep purple eyes attracted once again to this boy's pastries. She felt a bit envious, but she did not act on it. She had a perfectly fine lunch! Her eyes however, continued to moon over the shortcakes.

Azzo had indeed felt eyes on him. Even if it was for a brief second. It took him a while to locate who was indeed staring at him. However when he saw the dark haired girl mooning over the sweets he smiled softly and tilted his head trying to get her attention.

When he had it he'd motion to the pastries offering her one, heck inviting her over to the table. It wasn't like he had that many friends at Meadowview yet. Somewhere Alessa was around, and Nacio. And that pink haired pigtailed girl whom he didn't know the name of.

Azzo was all for feeding others, speically since he couldn't eat all these things along. He just hoped she'd come over instead of him having to scoop up all the pastries and move to the other table. The fact of the matter was, that he used the food most of the time as a converstation starter. Since he didn't go looking for converstation himself. One could call him lazy, but he'd like to think of as a genius move.

What better way to get to know people than through their hearts... of their stomachs.

For a moment, the boy's movements went unnoticed. However, due to his persistence more than anything else, her eyes eventually fell upon one of his locks of hair as it dangled partially into her line of sight. Her eyes traced up to find that now he was looking at her. It took a whole two seconds for her face to turn bright red. She had been caught, and she obviously had not wanted to be caught.

Acting upon instinct, she quickly redirected her eyes to looking back to her own lunch. Cucumber sandwich and carrots. Yes, these were the things she would be eating today. Nothing so fancy as a pastry. Due to her quick fussing, she completely missed his invitation to join him. She probably would have been too embarrassed to even take up such a kind offer.

He was probably still looking at her, probably wondering why she had been so rude to look at his lunch like she was starving. Heck, she still had a good 2/3 of her first cucumber sandwich to work on before she could move onto her other cucumber sandwich and her carrot sticks.

Azzo wasn't wondering why she'd been 'rude'. He was puzzled as to why she didn't take the invitation. He sighed and picked up his lunch, including the pastries and scooted over to the table with her sitting his stuff down he slide a shortcake over to her. It was in those nice little clear containers that was just the right size.

It was almost a wonder he didn't need a bigger lunch box. He smiled, "I hope you don't mind some company." He added after making sure the short cake was close enough to realize he was giving it to her. He observed the lunch she had for a second before starting into his own chips and dip.

"Gram's always packs more than I'll ever eat." He added in to accent that he didn't mind giving away food, "She'd want someone else besides me to be able to enjoy all this anyways."

The room was quite noisy already, so there was no way to tell the boy was approaching unless she was looking. And Yvette was way too preoccupied staring at her small lunch to realize he was making his way over. It was only when the boy spoke that the girl seemed to notice anyone had approached her, and even then, as she started with a "Oh, that is fine, yes..." she hadn't realized who it was until she looked up from her meal.

Her cheeks were instantly darkened a few more shades from how furious her blushing had become. If she wasn't careful, her head would pop right off like a rocket. Her eyes once again tried to revert back to looking at her own food, but the boy had moved too quickly and pushed something into her line of sight. He added his generous explanation, which caused her to curiously look to his face, then the pastry, then to his face again. Any explanation and any offer, no matter how good was still able to bring up some sort of doubt in the girl. If she hadn't been staring so blatantly, he wouldn't have felt bad for her.

"A-are you sure?" she asked in her tiny voice, looking at him in the fashion that a guilt-ridden child who just stole a cookie from the cookie jar would.

Azzo smiled and sat down. Re-arranging the foods and such and taking his chips out to nom on them, the sandwich would probably be good in bartering something to drink. Or giving to some hobo on his way back home. He didn't like baloney anyways.

He looked up at her after swallowing a chip, "Of course I'm sure." He grinned, "Grams fixes enough for an army. She'd flog me If I didn't share." He wore a silly grin on his face that said, well maybe not flog but she'd certainly not be too happy about it.

"She cooks all kinds of sweets, in between that and knitting things for other people." He shook his head, "I still don't know how she manages to sneak cookies into peoples pockets and bags for heaven sakes." Yes, his grandma did go over board. He wasn't nearly as sneaky. "I can't eat them all by myself anyways, I'd end up with a stomachache before English class."

He had the three left overs lined up in a triangle of sorts, another one closer to Yvette, one closer to him and one basically still offering itself to the world. He still had one in his lunch box too. "I really only need two, five is way to many even if I saved some for a snack after while. She'd be offended if I brought any home." If only Yvette knew his grandmother she'd understand why he didn't want the old lady to be offended.

His Gram would flog him for not sharing?! Her eyes shot open in disbelief and worry. He might have been saying this just to be silly (as his grin would certainly hint), but what if he was telling the truth?! In an almost overly cautious manner, she let her fingers quickly draw the little container over. She didn't open it yet, but offered a very sincere "Th-thank you, Azzo."

She might have been shy, but she recognized any former Barren Pines student with ease. It was just a talent of hers to remember people so easily. Though, for a moment, she couldn't help but wish that she could remember a bit more from the Barren Pines incident.

Before diving into the sweets, she had to double check something. Many times her tummy was too obnoxious and didn't allow her time to check if she was going to die from the food she ate. Allergies were the pits. "What sort of cake is this?" Her tiny mouth finally attempted to offer a small smile of gratitude, though it just looked more shy or embarrassed than anything else.

Azzo blinked looking at Yvette, "You're from there too?" He said seemingly not surprised anymore. He was pondering she did look familiar... But yet again names failed him. He sighed with a soft, "Another one I don't remember..."

"It's short cake." He paused, "Are you allergic to anything certain?" He asked curiously head tilting, "If so, if it's in here, I can get grams to make a whole batch you can have!" He smiled. "Grams would be delighted to make sweets for someone else."

The girl blushed slightly and looked down towards the cakes. "D-don't worry yourself too much. I'm not exactly the most memorable of people. People forget me all the time..." She smiled slightly, though even her lips seemed a bit conflicted with her blatant acceptance of this statement. Nobody ever remembered the quiet girl. She was the first one to get overlooked.

The mention of shortcake caused two completely different reactions to go off in her mind. Absolute thrill was one end of the spectrum, but at the same time, an even stronger sense of caution kicked in. Shortcake, despite being her favorite food, was also commonly associated with strawberries, the one food that Yvette was dangerously allergic to. With hope in her voice, she asked "Do you know if your Grandmother put anything strawberry into it?" The answer was obvious as to what she was allergic to.

Azzo blinked, "Heh honestly I forgotten everyone... Not just you." He looked a bit sad and flustered at the fact. "I mean there's faces that look familiar. But I've no name to go with that."

"Even Melody.... and for some reason that bothers me more than other names. I mean I feel bad for forgetting others too. But it's like... I don't know something bad or something happened between us. Though she seemed not to act that way." He wrinkled his nose. He was thoroughly confused by that fact.

He paused, "Huh... no strawberries aren't in season. She never uses winter strawberries, she always uses fresh spring ones when she puts strawberries on it." He gave a soft nod before double checking to see what was on there. "I believe it's just shortcake and whipped cream."

Her quiet voice hushed as he explained his predicament. And of course, she couldn't help but feel bad afterwords. Here she had been assuming something completely bogus, when more than likely Azzo was the one suffering. Putting herself in his shoes for a moment, she couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if she didn't remember people like Topher, Grayson, Elke, or Calintha. In all honesty, she was already pretty torn up over forgetting who had specifically asked her to prom. Forgetting the people themselves would have been at least a billion times worse.

"Yvette Weaver."

Her voice offered as a tiny introduction. She didn't offer her hand for a handshake, since that would feel a bit awkward for her in all honesty.

After clearance, the girl's fingers shyly put down her sandwich and pulled the shortcake container up closer to herself. She always had to wonder how people could easily depart with things that were their own. Yvette was the sort who couldn't depart with a pencil if push came to shove. In all honesty, just because she had such problems giving things away, she couldn't help but always feel guilty when she was given something. As if she was a timid animal, she popped open the container and picked up the slice of shortcake. Much like a mouse, she quietly brought it up to her mouth and delicately nibbled on the treat.

It was delicious. However, the girl was completely biased, since shortcake was her favorite food.

Azzo nodded softly, "Yvette. It's a pretty name." He said with a grin. "Though I might've said that before" He chuckled slightly sheepishly.

He was still eating his chips saving the cake till last. His eyes wondered around the lunch room. Seeing if there was anyone else he saw that looked familiar with no name. "Do you like the shortcake?" He asked mindlessly as he slowly came back to his food.

He was debating asking her she'd run into a senshi or a... evil being of types like he had. He was curious to know if Destiny was over run with the things or if it was just his bad luck on a winning run.

As if it was going to hide her blush, she kept her focus on eating her new treat. In all honesty, he had never told her that before, but that was because Yvette never really spoke much with Azzo before. At the question of her appreciation for shortcake, she nodded her head up and down quietly. She paused long enough to dip the cake into the small fluffy puff of whipped cream so she could confess "It's my favorite food." She smiled before once again resuming her mouse-like nibbles on her food. Of course, a small bit of the whipped cream managed to linger across her upper lip, making it look as if she had a small white mustache.

Azzo seemed not to notice the blush, he did miss quite a lot, even when he noticed a good deal too. Mostly stuff about girls, it was a complete lack of knowledge in the department.

He smiled, "Oh, I'm glad it's your favorite food." He said with a smile.

He took a slightly serious look, however trying not to frighten his timid friend. "Yvette, have you... seen anything strange happening in Destiny?" He said, it was a bit on the quite side. As if to keep the conversation between them. His eyes were also on the look out. "I mean besides the Senshi and... their rivals. Whatever they were called again."
