Hey everyone, so as the title of this thread states, I'll be asking about the site rules because at the moment, there aren't any. And rules are important to keep things in order since we don't want them getting out of hand ^^. (Also, it makes me kinda nervous to see a foundation of a guild missing.) Here are a very simple set of rules that I've made. I'm allowing these rules to be used, but I'm also letting everyone have their input. We can add in or take away anything so long as you keep in mind what's best for the guild in it's entirety.

So let me know what you all think. If you think it's fine the way it is, then cool, but discussion's nice too. That way it's like we all made it, instead of just one person.

Site Rules and Regulations:

1. First and foremost, every member must respect and follow the Gaian Terms of Service.
-Privacy Notice: Never display any personal information that could be used to find you in the real, off-line, world in public, with strangers or people you just met -- for example, your mailing or home address or phone numbers.
-Prohibited Conduct: You may not..
-"stalk", harras, threaten or defraud other Gaia Members.
-Send, post or make available porographic, threatening, embarrassing, hateful, racially or ethnically insulting, deceptive, tortious, defamatory, libelous, or otherwise inappropriate or offensive content to other Gaia Members.
-Impersonate another person or access another Member's account without permission, or impersonate Gaia staff.
-Share Gaia-issued passwords with a third party or encourage another Member to do so. Espeically if you are part of the Crew!!

2. Treat others the way you wish to be treated!
-Follow the 'Golden Rule' and be respectful towards everyone you meet, even if they are being disrespectful to you.
-When being spoken to by a Captain, you must listen and be courteous to their requests. They are made Captain for a reason and are here to help, not harm.
-Be civil and fair. We are all part of an intelligent species, therefore we should act that way. Do not lash out or cuss excessively at another member for any reason. If there is a disagreement, take it to Private Messaging where it can be dealt with in private.
-Report mistreatment and malicious intent to a Crew member right away so the offender can be dealt with accordingly.

3. If you see a member breaking any of the rules, regulations and the Gaian T.O.S. report it to a Crew member immediately.
-We do not promote harmful or offensive behavior in any way, shape or form. It is strongly encouraged here to be respectful and follow the rules.

4. No text talk.
-Though this is more of a guideline than a rule, it still must be followed.
-Be as literate as you can and use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
-If you have trouble, feel free to PM any Crew member for help and tips.

There Will Be No:

God Modding - The act of creating or playing with an invincible character that has been given limitless power. Some players will create a brand new character that is automatically gifted with skills and techniques of a Captain. This is not allowed for every player must work within the bounds of their given ranks.

A player is not allowed to decide the outcome of an attack or action without giving your opponent a chance to react to that attack or action.

Auto hitting - The act of making decisions and/or actions for the target of your role play. For example, Dwight slams his fist into Jim's jaw, a sound of shattering bones accompanying the scream of Jim as his jaw is broken on impact. Acts such as this are highly dishonorable and are the worst form of god modding that can be performed. Firm action will be taken towards those who god-mod or auto-hit and players will be cited accordingly if such actions are reported and/or caught.

Power Playing - The act of constant regeneration and/or dodging of attacks and actions etc. Also known as 'auto-healing' or 'auto-dodging'. Soul Fighter's are not inbreed with the power to heal. Unless it is part of your rank enabled abilities or an Energy Technique, you may not automatically heal yourself. A player may also not dodge every single attack. This is physically impossible because no one is invincible, all Soul Fighter's wear down eventually.

Aylin,

I must congratulate you on your success here. I personally cannot see anything wrong with it.

However i would like to add some sort of punishment system to the rules.

However i dont yet know what sort of rule punishment force that we can enforce,

The Gotei Elites ~ Use the Yuko/Strike per offence system, So unless we get there permission ~{ Which i am in the process of doing }~ we need to create our own Punishment system.

Any Ideas Anyone?

~{ P.S Aylin ~ I vote "YES" to your rules system }~

I think we should create our own punishment system Kaicho. We will never be able to succeed if we are always asking to use a system of the Gotei Elite. I do get we are a branched guild from them but I would still like us to try and find our own ideas. Maybe in the future they can ask us for permission to use our systems.

I vote yes on the rules.

I believe a warning system should go into effect.

Like a three strikes and your out kind of thing. Um something like this.

Captains
- 4 strikes (depending on how bad) and you take a chance of losing your position, if they keep screwing up, they lose their position. Then we can decide on whether or not we can accept them back into the seat as captain or not.

Vice captains: 4 strike (depending on how bad) and they lose their position as a vice captain to what ever squad they are in. Then the captain of that squad is given a date, a matter of days, and are given a choice to either accept that person back as their vice captain, or to give it to someone else.

Lieutenants
(if you have a larger ranking system like me): 4 strikes, you lose your position (depending on how bad) and the captain of your squad can go into whether giving it back, or giving it to someone else after a matter of time.

Soldiers: 6 strikes (depending on how bad) and you can lose your spot, even be kicked out of the guild. Now returning to the guild can be accepted, depending on how bad the person really was, but they must converse with a captain, and that captain must bring it up to voting whether we bring them back in.

If this is an accepted Idea, then I state that we must create a thread that has all the deadlisted people, ones that are never aloud to return, a black list, people that may be aloud to return, but need to be voted upon, and a gray list, which are people that are in trouble.
In the gray black, and gray list, we must state a time limit.
Black list: Day they are kicked out, to the day they are aloud to return to the guild (but must be voted on)
Gray list: Day they become in trouble, to the day they are taken off parole.

What do yall think of my idea for a judicial system?

I like it Reddeye. also i vote yes on the Site rules

Well, the idea is good and it's helpful, but I just don't think it's fair that Soldiers are allowed to break the rules more than Captains are. Everyone should be treated exactly the same when it comes to following rules because everyone has to do it.

Yes, the Soldiers are newer and could probably use some help with them, but when anyone first joins the site, logically they would read the rules first. So in a sense, the Soldiers would be the freshest to the rules as well. I just feel that they don't have to be babied, especially since the thread will always be up so everyone can see it all the time.

Well we can decide on the actual amount of times a person can screw up, I was just putting stuff down as an example. Though depending on what you do, like how bad the rules is. Like if you break a role play rule for something like a certain typing, then it would be less drastic. As to something like posting pornographic pictures, or cybering, as to verbally attacking a person should have more drastic measures. The amount of strikes you get can differ from the specific offense.
Now I also understand where you are coming from with the new members, and I also think it would be better to keep all numbers of strikes equal.

Well, for the RP'ing stuff, I think it would be alright to issue out little things.. Like a written out warning or even encouragement (since it says it's more of a guideline than a rule) because I don't think we want to see things like..

So-and-So didnt kno wat 2 do nxt so he rolled 2 the left jumped the fence landed nd ran far away

(Yikes, that was painful to write x.x) That's just hard to read a lot of. And if they're new to RP'ing then that's kind of what the High School area is for, I gather, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Since there aren't that many rules, we could come up with a small like punishment policy type thing for each rule?

For example. (I made this very quickly, so it is in no way perfected upon)

If a person breaks the first rule, they're issued one warning. If they break it again, they're issued a formal statement informing them they're in danger of earning one strike. Then if they break it again, they get the one strike.

This one is more strict because it's the GAIA terms of service, which should be followed by the entire gaian population.
---
If a person breaks the second rule, they're issued one warning. If they break it again, they're issued a more serious warning stating that they're in jeopardy of earning a strike. If they do it, yet again, they receive a meeting with Cookeh (or someone else) so they can have a discussion about the issue and how they've gotten to their third warning. They might be having issues of their own, so it's best to talk things out when the second rule is more personal than the first. If they do it a fourth time, then they earn their strike.

In cases of disrespect, the more extreme ones, decisions could also be made by the Council pertaining to their status in their Squad. The Council may also be consulted if it's a case with a Captain or Crew member who's being overly disrespectful because top Ranks should know the rules very well.
---
Then if people don't follow the third or fourth rule, then they can just be issued out as many warnings (and help for the fourth rule) until they finally understand. Because text talk is something that can be fixed easily and with less conflict.

---

ALL this would still fall under the 4-strike thing. And if a member gets to their four strikes, then the case is brought to the Council for decision upon the fate of their place in the Guild.

The rules aren't that hard to follow and if someone actually gets up to four strikes, then they've got a real problem because I, honestly, can't see a reason as to why no member, who's serious about being here, could follow the rules.

I can understand all that. Good examples, highly understandable. I personally don't know what to add on to that.

wahmbulance Just to mention wahmbulance

I believe we now have five captains approval for the Rules to be published Publically.

However this thread will remain open for further discussion on how to improve the rules and regs

~{ E.g Adding the Punishment system into it }~

Aylin ~ You may post these rules when ready, Try and intergrate the Punishment system as stated above into your rules and polish it up a bit, You know make it look sparkling clear to everyone

Sure thing. I'll work on tweaking up what's there and everyone, please please add your input if you've got anything! It's totally welcomed.

I also spoke briefly to Zalian and he said he had come up with a set of rules, so I'll post up what I finish so we can have a set of rules for people to look at, but I'm also interested in seeing what he had in mind too since he mentioned it. So yeah, like you said, Cookeh, this is still open for discussion and the rules can be added to/edited at any time.

Here's the edited version of the Punishment Policy. All the same stuff, but it just sounds more formal and it's organized. I'm posting it up here so everyone can still give their ideas to it if there need to be any changes.

And as stated in the Site Rules, we are allowed to make necessary changes to the rules whenever we need to.

Quote:
Punishment Policy

Every member in the Soul Reapers of the Seireitei is allotted 4 strikes. For each rule there is a set of Warnings that will be handed out prior to recieving a Strike. Once a person reaches 4 strikes, they will be banned from the Guild all together unless the Council finds a more suitable punishment which would be decided upon in a meeting.

Each rule listed in the post above has it's own 'Punishment Policy'. Below are the details that pertain to the Warnings issued out within each rule.

1. First and foremost, every member must respect and follow the Gaian Terms of Service.

If a member is to break the first rule, they are issued one warning.

If the rule is broken a second time, they will issued a more formal warning to inform the member that they are in danger of earning one strike.

Finally, if the rule is broken a third time, they get the one strike.

This Policy will more strictly enforced because it's the Gaia terms of service, which should be followed by the entire gaian population.

2. Treat others the way you wish to be treated! Be respectful.

If a member is to break the second rule, they will be issued one warning.

If the rule is broken a second time, they will issued a more serious warning stating that they're in jeopardy of earning a strike.

If the rule is broken a third time, the member will receive a meeting with Cookeh so they can have a serious discussion about the issues they are having with constant disrespect. It is always possible that is person is having issues of their own, so they will receive the benefit of the doubt. If the meeting with Cookeh is filled with constant disrespect and/or cruel and malicious intent, the offender will automatically receive a Strike.

If the meeting goes well and the member is let off with the third warning, yet they break the second rule again it will be up to the Council to decide if they shall receive one or two Strikes.

In cases of disrespect, the more extreme ones, decisions could also be made by the Council pertaining to their status in their Squad. The Council may also be consulted if it's a case with a Captain or Crew member who's being overly disrespectful because the higher Ranks, such as Captains and Lieutenants, should know the rules very well.

The Punishment Policy pertaining to the third and fourth rule will be simply warnings. Since they are more like guidelines, it would be unfair to punish people for them. Instead, the staff in the Soul Reapers of the Seireitei highly encourage you to follow rules three and four to the best of your ability. A member may also seek out help for literacy to better their Role Playing skills.
