I'm going to see the movie tonight, probably around 8 pm. Once I have internet connection again, I'll discuss the movie with y'all. Until then, though, feel free to discuss it amongst yourselves! heart

It's a really good movie. I saw it last night, myself. I haven't read the book, but I thought the actors were amazing. My boyfriend loved it too. I dragged him to see it with me, lol...

I think I've been waiting to see this movie since I saw the trailer over the summer....JUST A FEW MORE DAYS!!!

I thought the movie was a visual masterpiece .
The story that was portrayed in the book closely matches the movie, with changes that are kinda unknown to me ( i need to re-read the book). I don't remember in the book where Hatsumomo burns the Okiya but, it added extra drama in the plot in the movie that I very much enjoyed.
The movie was a feast for the eyes, seeing the classes and traditional dance was very accurate.
I think that the movie made me like hatsumomo's bitchy-ness even more than I already did ( lol ). Although Okiya's are hard to find in japan ( except in Okinawa, trust me on this one ). I thought the book brought some kind of light to Geishas, that there not prostutes, but entertainers.
I very much enjoyed the movie, and I keep saying that.

I just saw the movie. OMG, it was the best!! it stuck close to the book, and brought us into a wonderous world of shadow and secret, the world of the geisha. The best movie i've seen in a long time, and i agree, it is a visual masterpiece.

Although, it began quite wrong.... I wish they would have stuck to the book on that one and built tanaka's character up... but its cool ^^

I did notice the small things that were changed or left out of the storyline sweatdrop , and I felt that in a couple scenes they relied to heavily on the visual aspect with the clothing and scenery (which were both absolutley beautiful). But all in all, I really liked the movie, especially how they incorporated the flowing water as much as they did.
We had a lot of fun going to see the movie. 4 other girls and I dressed up in kimono. And the part where Pumpkin brings the Chairman instead of Nobu? A girl behind us in the theater yelled out "Oh No!" T'was pretty funny. 4laugh

I enjoyed the movie a lot, however pieces were missing and added which I don't think I liked. 1.) She's a monkey not a rooster. 2.) Nobu needed a bigger part, and gave her the place to go not the Chairman. 3.) (This is what really bugged me.) The American that the buisness was doing buisness with, wasn't supposed to be an American, it was a Japanese man. He was interested in becoming Sayuri's danna. 4.) The oykia never burned down. Hamosota cut her foot and bleed everywhere when she was drunk one night.
All in all, I thought it was appealing visually and emotionally. The Chinese actresses did a good job, even though once in a while they looked silly in kimono. I very much enjoyed the last scene..But I wish they would have let her keep the hankerchief.

gah finally saw it, it bothered me, all the added or left out plot (my friends kept asking what was going on cause no scene lasted longer then five minutes) and after, my friends all decided that geisha=whore! i think it shouldve been much much better then it was, and they shouldve helped the actresses speak slower >< i could understand them fine, and so could my boyfriend, but we are used to watching korean movies and his mother talking (shes korean) my other friends had no clue what was happening!
despite the fact that the business man was made american, i loved that whole scene in the hot springs, i think they all did the best acting there in that scene xd and i LOVED pumkin omg look at that makeup! and her faux american accent rofl
