I have been thinking of reviving the contest part of this forum as there are a lot more users. Before bringing up this with Sugar, I want to see how many people would be willing to enter this writing contest.
The contest I would also like ideas on. The ones I have thought up so far are: - Chapter of a story - Short word limited story (500 words or perhaps a bit more) - Poetry - Monologues
So if you have any suggestions or you like one or maybe a few of my ideas, please say, I would love the input. There will be a judge (me) or a small panel (me and another mod or Sugar) and it will be judged on factors we will post later.
Please state if you are willing or not to enter and and suggestions. There will be prizes!
Thank you,
Desert

I don't think I'd be able to participate, just due to time limitations-- but I would be up for donating for prizes if needed, since I'd like to see this work out. smile

Yes! If you think there are enough active members that would participate, then we should do it.

Thanks Scipio! Any ideas on what kind of writing we should hold the contest on?

Ideas? Hmm... I'm mostly just a short-story/novel creative writing kinda guy. So your first couple of ideas (In your first post) sounded great to me! =P But other than that, I'm up for just about anything! I love getting the imagination gears turning any chance I get!!

An account will be set up shortly (probably thursday night or so because of my exam and panto tomorrow) so that money and the prizes can be set up there.
Now, it would be really handy if people could donate something like Racheling (thank you!). However, I was thinking of a small entry fee for the people who wish to submit their work for the contest.
How much do people suggest?
And yes, this idea will be happening and I may take you up on that offer Rayne as there will need to be judges!
Edit: Just thought that perhaps people entering the competition would want an extra prize of having their piece edited? That means that everyone will get something out of it. I personally love editing and if we keep the competition entries small then it won't be much of a burden for me and the judge/judges.

About the prizes, did you have any idea about how much you were hoping to offer? Just so I have an idea how much to send over when the prize-holding account is ready. If not, no worries, I'll just pick an amount to send. Let me know where to send it.

I've run a few contests in the Contest Subforum in the past, so I think this is a brilliant idea. =3 I dunno if I'd have time to enter, but I'd definitely give it a go, especially if the entries don't have to be long.
In my past experience, the most successful contests are those that offer a song/lyrics/quote/picture as a prompt (even better if there are multiple prompts and people can choose one from a list, all revolving around a particular theme maybe?) In my past contests I've had the contest have an overarching theme (for example After The Fairytale), and then given a number of prompts (a number of songs/lyrics), and then told people to use the prompt to create a story in the chosen theme.
It's definitely a good idea. :3 I'd love to help out.

Ooo that does sound good, could you possibly give me a few suggestions to what we could prompt people with?
And Racheling, our Mule is PostProgressMule, just send everything to her smile Thanks again!
