Ephraim looked at himself in the mirror when he had finished shaving, just to be sure he had done an even shave and to check for any cuts. Using his towel he wiped away the perspiration on the mirror so he could see better but, instead of his face his eyes were locked on the five haunting letters that had been seared into his flesh by his former tormentors, HYDRA. It was the name they had given him on the day of his "re-birth" when he finally broke, from the countless hours of torture and experiments they did with him, and begged for his life. Ephraim's head throbbed as a memory rose from what ever hidden depths of his mind it had been stored and he found himself reliving one such experiment that involved the Scientists looming over him, dissecting him while he was awake and rearranging his DNA with a variety of different reptiles. When the memory subsided Ephraim found himself on the floor, his bathroom sink shattered and his mirror destroyed. He didn't bother with the mess He'd see to it later, but right now he had to get to town for work.

Ephraim walked slowly through the city taking in everything he saw, from the crumbling buildings to piles of ruble, little shakes or tents that people called home. It was a sad site to behold, he had heard that this city was at one point a great bustling metropolis that provided much of the electricity used in other near by towns. this part Ephraim knew well because he was the main supplier of such vast amounts of power. That was the purpose the Demi's had given him, he was fuel, a living battery charger. Ephraim wasn't quite clear on how they did it but what he did remember was during one of they're many tests the found a way, through DNA splicing, to give the ability to create pure electricity almost like an Eel. This came however with a heavy price because when he used his abilities he would wined up with charred skin or missing fingers. After several tests the Demi's shoved and spliced his DNA with all kinds of Reptiles with regenerative abilities until they made Ephraim able to use his power with minimal damage to himself.

As he continued on his way to the Power Plant he was over come with a familiar feeling, almost a disturbance in the air. He shook it aside and entered the Plant through the front door. Everything was dead, nothing worked, or could be turned on, Ephraim made his way down a long dark hallway and down several flights of stares until he came to the generator room. "All right then Let's make some magic."

Ephraim pushed open the doors that separated him from the Generator. it was an effortless task but it chest still burned non the less, his breathing became laborious and he had that feeling again. "It must be the Electrical build up...i just need to release is all..." every week Ephraim would come to this power plant and discharge his stored electricity, it was either this or cause horrible lightning storms. Ephraim quickly ran up to the generator and took hold of two rods that erected from the top. It was from here that he pumped his stored his build up into the generator that powered the city. "3...2...1!!!" Sparks flew in all direction as he fed the machine his power. Pain shot all up his arms and back as the nerves and muscles were incinerated, only to be quickly regenerated because of his reptile DNA. He did what he could to keep from yelling but eventually he broke, the pain was only growing the longer he held onto those iron rods and loosed his build up.

After Thirty painful minutes the generator started to run on its own, it was alive again and power coarsed through the city once more. Ephraim jumped down from the Generator and sat on the floor for a while breathing heavily. "I swear that's get harder and harder every month..." once the feeling his arms returned he got back up and made his way out the front door and into the city. He noted that people were beginning to walk about going to there jobs and running there errands. "as long as im helping i guess i can deal with it..."

Ephraim was a bit surprised that a girl had asked if he was ok, he was surprised that someone actually cared for his well being at all. Ephraim's first thought was to run, but he couldn't, he didn't want to for several good reasons. One was the fact that she acknowledged his existence with a smile, and second was she was the first person to talk to him in a long time. "umm yeah im alright...that generator is always giving me trouble on a monthly basis." his pain had subsided and his chest no longer burned, in fact it was cool, and that weird feeling was back again.

Ephraim was happy that he had earned another smile from this girl. "you could say that yes, im the one who keeps this city alive in a way and by that the people." Ephraim smiled at the girl and slowly walked toward her "by the way my names Ephraim, but most people here in the city call me Hydra." he stopped after what she had said about staying safe. she seemed to change for half a moment. "umm pardon?"

Ephraim's facial expression softened from happiness to sorrow. It had been a long time sense anyone had talked to him, and now for some odd reason she seemed like she was rejecting his existence. "H-hey now what do you mean go, Rabanastre is one of the only cities that has clean water, thanks to the generator that powers a filter, and besides look at your shirt we should get it fixed up first...it's mid winter and all"
