Snow flakes pelted the ground over and over again, the chill of winter tugging fiercely at the caves edges and more irritably on Amane's crimson coat. After traveling around for most of his life, he had become used to the cold weather, be it rain, hail or snow storms, he could hack it but that isn't to say that the cold didn't etch into his skin and get the best of him from time to time.

Over the last two days, he had been huddled into a more than comfortable flooring a generous two legger had prepared for him when spotting the stallion staggering into the cave, covered in lumps of snow. He wasn't sure how to react at first, but as it was nothing more than an act of kindness, he simply appreciated it and nothing more. Chill still crept in but it was better than facing the storm head on.

Although, no matter how hard he tried to wait it out, hunger always came back into the picture. With a rebellious stomach, food was playing on his mind, when his body needed it, it wasn't to be ignored - oh how that had come back to haunt him in previous years. With an unwilling push out of the comfy flooring, he walked towards the entrance which he had to shield his eyes against the snowy glow.

Now, to find food in the mountains... This was going to be fun.

The nearly white colored mare walked without any kind of falt to her movements from the snow storm that pummeled down on her. The blue in her hair was beginning to turn white from all the snow that began to layer on only showing a faint glow of blue underneath. She was a little cold, but that was mostly from the snow laying on her back and it was evident that she was getting use to the temperatures here instead of how could it was in the Arctic.

Snorting at the cold, she walked more flicking her tail every so often so that none of the snow froze to it. Walking on, she noticed a cave and quickly trotted over to it with all the energy she had left. In reality she was scared. This storm reminded her of the childhood storm that took her family away from her. Shivering lightly, she heard the faint footsteps of another making her turn her head slowly seeing the stallion there. He was hard to miss with his red color.

"Some storm eh?" She asked him trying to hide the fact that she wanted to cry. "I haven't been in a storm like this since I was young. It brings back memories." She spoke softly still shivering from her fear and the cold.

Who had ever thought, in a storm as harsh and vigorous as the one whipping around outside, would bring a mare to shelter in the very cave Amane had also stumbled into to flee from the cold. It was astonishing - let alone anything surviving, but another soquili?

Bewildered, the stallion quietly stepped aside to make room for the white, camouflaged figment. Quietly observing what had fallen into such company. A large horn, brilliant at that bestowed her head, and neighboring frosty blue locks, bitten by snow to the absolute. The deep cyan of his orbs welcomed her reflection, briefly closing them and inhaling a deep breath as her welcome sinked in.

From what he could tell was that she was no ordinary mare. It sounded as if she was used to this kind of weather and it made him wonder just how long she had been exploring or wandering in it. From the snow that had gathered on her back it could have been days. . .

"Since you were young did you say?" He hadn't run into weather as bad as this in a long time either, which he gave a calm nod in reply to. Edging back, he nudged his head to the side gesturing the stranger to follow as from her shivering state, was clear that she was freezing and exhausted.

"I have never seen it this bad in a long time, myself." He scanned the bedding and shuffled some over with his muzzle to make it more welcoming. "Here - you look frozen, please make yourself at home."

He stood aside the bedding and gazed past the shadowed mare to the dim light seeping through the entrance of the cave, his belly churning at the reminiscence of food. He would have to wait hunger out just a little bit longer as attention was needed elsewhere for the time being.

Hydro looked to the male with her horn glowing a little in the darkness of the cave and was glowing a faint blue. "Yes since I was a child. I should be use to weather like this though. I live in it my whole life, but I guess going somewhere new changes the temperature of your body." She shrugged and laughed a little bit, but followed by it was a sneezed before looking over to him again seeing the gesture. "Thank you. I'm sorry if I'm a pain. I don't mean to be a burden on anyone." She told him before walking over to the bedding and laying down on some of it. She left enough for the stallion to lay on to feel comfortable, but didn't know if he would join her.

"You can rest too. It will probably pass soon. Most of the storms I saw in the arctic don't last a whole day. At the most they last a couple hours." She nodded to him before snorting and shaking her body a bit to knock some of the snow off her back. "So what is your name? I'm Hydro." She told him in a rather non-chalant way of putting things. "Why were you out in a storm like this? I haven't seen a single soul until now." She asked him and smiled slightly as she moved over a little more to make enough room for him if he wished it.

"Hmm?" Amane looked away from the entrance and returned his gaze over the mare, in time to see that she had made herself at home. She looked a little healthier now without all the snow fleecing her body. At her shuffle, he didn't waste any time lowering himself down into the warm bedding next to the stranger, who introduced herself as 'Hydro' at least there was a name to go by now, and she hadn't wasted any time inintroducing herself, which was handy.

"Its nice to meet you Hydro, you may call me Amane" He smiled kindly, "Don't worry, your not a pain at all in fact I've been here a few days now without any trace of another. Its refreshing seeing a friendly face"

Why was he out in the storm? Why was she out in the storm he wondered. The only reason he had come out to the mountains was the same reason he ended up anywhere - to travel. It wasn't an overly exciting reason, but it was 'a' reason. A Pretty mare like herself all alone in such a dangerous storm. . . Now that wasn't an every day occurrence.

"I'm a traveler and I hadn't been to the mountains before now so I decided to take a trip up here however I never realized how bad the weather could turn." He sighed, dipping his head down shortly. If he had of known he would have most certainly made sure to prepare better;Where had that two legger run off to anyway? He didn't expect it to just vanish after a day. They could be being watched for all they knew.

Hydro had mentioned the arctic, which was an unfamiliar word in the stallions ears and his interest grew simply the fact she said she lived in conditions like these most her life. Did that mean there were other lands besides the ones of soquili?

"What about you, what brought you out into a storm like this?"

Hydro watched the stallion lay on the bedding beside her making her feel more at ease about his health even though most of the time she could care less about others. “Amane? It’s nice to meet you as well. Oh okay that is good then. I have been traveling for a few hours trying to find some kind of shelter from the storm, so it’s nice to hump into someone else doing the same thing.” She nodded and looked out the entrance at the snow seeing it come down as heavy as ever.

“Yes I didn’t think that it would get this bad here. I have been in bad storms, but after being in such nice weather here …this is a shock. So I wasn’t really ready for it to be honest.” She nodded and snorted lightly before nipping some of the snow off her back since it was still making her a little cold which wasn’t enjoyable.

Hearing the question at first, she drew a black in her head making her stare out into the snow with a slightly blank expression. “Well I’m trying to figure out where I belong.” She said since it was the first thing that came to her mind. It was true, but it wasn’t everything. “I moved away from where I came from because I’m trying to get over my families’ death. There was so many memories there I just wanted to get away from it all and start over. I will never forget them of course, but it was just hard to breath there sometimes. I never got a chance to know any of them better.” She told him before lowering her head some and sighing. “So I’m trying to find my place. I came up here to the mountains to find a cave or something because I want to live up here. When it’s not snowing I noticed the view is gorgeous, so maybe that is what I will do.” She nodded and nipped at her back again.

“So do you have anyone? Family, friends, or a mate?”

"I'm sorry to hear about that." He uttered quietly, just staring. He didn't mean to be rude, but he had left his herdlands to get away from their traditions and this mare, had left to get away from the painful memories of losing those she cared about. He felt selfish and cracked an awkward one sided frown. 'She must of been really young... How long has she been alone like this?' He thought.

He watched as she nipped away more snow and began to help her, trying to help her warm up too. The cold still seeped in but it was starting to get much warmer with both their body temperatures.

"This could be a nice cave for you to settle in. There is a nice two legger who brought the bedding in for me when I first arrived living around here somewhere. When it gets too cold maybe they will renew it. I can imagine the scenery being beautiful too. I will leave of course, if you want this cave. Just say when." He gave a proud nod, knowing that it would be pefect once the warmer side of the weather came around and the storm stopped.

It would make a great start. Finding a home is one step of finding yourself. Was that why, sometimes he also felt so lost..? He had plenty yet they were never permanent however they could of been. The puzzlement caused his eyes to flicker to the bedding in thought, until Hydro asked another question. At the sound 'mate' a smile lit up his features.

"I sure do."
He replied in a gentle voice. "I have a family who lives in the clearing. Not so many permanent friends since I travel alot and they tend to be just random occurences. Its a shame really, it would be nice to have someone I could visit for a chat every now and again..." He paused, thought of his mate and continued with a warmer tone to his voice. "I have a beautiful mate named October. She lives down by the forest and waits for me whilst I travel. I love her so much but I feel as if she could do better, be with someone who is there to keep her safe on a night, to keep her warm." He shrugged, looking back at the unicorn mare. "What about you, friends, a mate? A lovely mare like yourself surely has some interest."

Hydro laid there looking at the snow wondering when it would stop well enough so that she would be able to leave and travel more. “Really? You would do that for me?” She asked thinking long and hard on his words. It wouldn’t be that bad of a place to stay or leave especially with how her conditions were right this moment. “I don’t know. It would be something I would have to think on. I don’t want to take this place from your. It was your first home right? That is a memory I wouldn’t want you to miss unless I invite you over sometimes? I don’t know. I will see.” She told him in a light tone of voice not really use to the kindness she was receiving.

“Well if you ever come by the mountains you can visit me. I plan to shack up around here somewhere and soon. It would be nice to have friends visit me every now and then to make me feel good.” She told him with a smile before hearing the news of his mate making her smile slightly less, but she still kept one. It was something maybe one day she could have, but it wasn’t certain for her. “She is a very lucky mare then. You seem like a very fun stallion to be around and are very friendly. I’m sure she understands that you like to travel. She wouldn’t stopped loving you for that reason.” She said to him as she nudged his side lightly with a wide smile.

“I have a friend that I made when I first came here and that has stood by me through everything. A mate? No. I doubt anyone would want to be around troubled ole me. I didn’t really find anyone that caught my interest. I mean the ones I have met either have mates or are in love with someone and refuse to give them up. So I doubt I would even make an impression there. So I will just not worry about it for now and live alone.” She shrugged half-heartedly as she laid there trying not to upset herself over it.

Amane shook his head, appreciating her considerate words. "No, no. It's not a problem. This isn't my home." He smiled and looked into her eyes to reassure. As always, looking into someones eyes was a way of being polite and showing what your saying, is true. "It's somewhere I decided to stay away from the harsh weather. I won't be around much longer, so keep this place if you want. It's no trouble. Have a think on it"

He would definitely come back and see her, having been given the option and laughed lightly when she made more sense to his mind than he had about his mate. It was a strange realization. "Your right. Thank you." He fell silent afterwards until she nudged him and adored the wide smile he recieved when looking back over her. "You're very sweet." 'and much like myself by the sounds of it.' he thought, sighing inwardly. Maybe he had rushed finding a love too quickly but he couldn't think like that, not now. Flicking the blonde tail into the bedding, thinking.

"Someone like you, shouldn't have to live alone. It isn't fair. I'm sure, your prince will ride around the corner... Soon." He gave a weak smile and snorted gently when looking away from the troubled mare.
