(he looks like Heath+Hound to me, and Heath is my aboslute least favourite doll.) I'm also not a fan of heavy body blushing AT all, so that could be a factor. But yeah. I'm kind of... dissappointed?

I was sooo the one who said it looked like a Hound Heath hybrid. razz But yeah... His body looks almost like they copied some of the joint structure from their male Dollfie dolls instead of the Super Dollfies... He just looks strange. It's mostly in the elbows though. That and his chest joint juts out which looks odd. It's like they rushed him... I dunno. I'm not really a big fan of Volks dolls to begin with. But before that's always just been a personal thing. I just don't tend to like their heads or joints that much. I still respect that they are nice dolls though and that the quality is good. But this guy... I dunno... I can't even apreciate him on a craftsmenship level.

The only volks dolls I really *like* are Michael, and the U-Noss, but the U-Noss wasn't even sculpted by Volks artisans, so I don't really even count her as a Volks. He does seem rushed. He's just... odd looking. It's almost as if the normal sculptors weren't the ones to work on him, and they used a different team. Apart from the head, he doesn't even look like a Volks.

That's a good point... Your right his face looks Volks but the rest of him doesn't. The body almost looks like it was made by an amature sculpture who'd been looking at Dollfies and CP dolls... I agree about U-Noss also. But you already know my views on the awesomeness that is the U-Noss doll. And I'm not that big a fan of Michael in general. Valerian reaches new levels of cute and squinty though. 4laugh

I'm a sucker for Michael though. First doll I fell in love with. (and I still have the occasional "Megu is soooo cuuute!" moment. biggrin )

Either that or they might be trying so hard to look different that they've started to fail. That isn't exactly an uncommon thing in the buisness world... What bothers me about that though would be it would mean Volks is going even FARTHER down the path of buisness over quality and the joy of BJDs.

as a curiousity, i asked my boyfriend what age he thought the SD16 was. he said anywhere from 14-18 years old in his opinion.
i found that interesting.
he looks like an 16-18 year old to me, but he looks like one thing definitely to me: a guy. id get him but his face i know with a blond wig and the right facepaint will remind me of someone i dont want to be reminded of.
i like his body though, its very male. they could have done a little less blushing on the back. hes expensive. but i like his joints - they most likely will look great in person. he most likely will post fantastically and i really like volk's resin.
not this headsculpt for me, but maybe another sd16 in the future for me. the only thing i balk at is the pricetag, he IS rather expensive for even this hobby.
every time i see an image of him i imagine him doing the deep voice of david bowie and saying "you just shut your mouth" like at the beginning of the family guy movie xd

Well, Reila is fairly heavy for a girl. Val is also the chunkiest of my dolls. The SD13 boys are INCREDIBLY heavy, so if the SD16 is the size, he's gonna weigh a lot. (it's something about their resin that's just heavier, I believe.)
I'd like to see a female SD16. Hopefully the girls will have less muscle on them. (which I think looks really odd on him... and his upper arms just look really mishapen.)
Size doesn't matter! I think Heath would scare poor Hound into submission.

Other companies originally had to come up with ways to use less resin. You say size doesn't matter... but I think Hound has certain attributes that could change Heaths mind wink
