Planet Name: Kashyyyk
System Name: Kashyyyk
Sector: Sumitra
Region: Deep Core
Terrain: Forrests
Zones: Tree Cities, Swamp Research Outpost, Wookie Cantina, Burnt Out Forests

Kashyyyk appears like any other forested planet: green with trees, blue with water, white with clouds. On closer inspection the cloud seems more like fog, with the tallest trees poking out. This is an optical illusion; the oldest wroshyr trees stand several kilometres tall, their roots lost in the impenetrable gloom far below.

The home planet of the Wookiees, boasts one of the most unusual and lethal ecosystems in the galaxy. Awe-inspiring wroshyr trees cover its surface, stretching kilometres from the sheltered surface to its wispy cloud layer. The cutthroat struggle for survival began eons ago on the planet's surface; species that could climb higher, such as the ancestors of Wookiees, did so. The creatures that remained either evolved deadly defences or became extinct. The survivors now thrive in the towering wroshyr trees, and the peculiar planets and animals fill every possible niche in the vertical environment.

Cities are nowhere to be seen until one gets much closer. Then, tiny specks resolve into the haze of smoke, the network of towers and bridges, and the pale, flat discs of landing pads - cut from single limbs of the titanic wroshyrs. Closer still, individual buildings, sometimes two or three stories tall, begin to stand out, as do the wide, flat streets between them. The immensity of the physics becomes wondrously clear: each city is built on interwoven branches so large that a ship could on the cross-section, so sturdy they stir only in the most devastating winds. Kashyyyk's cities are built in conjunction with nature, not in spite of it, and yet they are fully functional cities, not crude villages or simple structures.

Technology and nature blend everywhere, in the speeders cruising along limbs as wide as multi-lane highways, in the organic exhaust ports of the computer-component factories, and in the grand crystalline windows of the mansions, museums, and temples. Kashyyyk is far from primitive; it is simply natural.

The steamy temperatures in Kashyyyk's swamps and inland lakes cause a tremendous amount of evaporation. Most of it rarely rises more than a kilometre above the ground before it is trapped by foliage, where it condenses and falls back into the water table as dark, soil-rich rain. What evaporation occurs on the upper levels makes for light cloud cover and periodic light rainfall. Windstorms are infrequent, and usually not very strong -- certainly not strong enough to shake the treetops. Lightning is extremely unusual on Kashyyyk, as the wood of wroshyr trees is an insulator against negative electrical build-up.

Kashyyyk's geographical regions are broken down more by climate and terrain, and less by geopolitical boundaries. The most populous regions are the central northern and southern hemispheres, where the temperatures are more comfortable. The population drops off as the temperatures rises toward the equator and drops toward the poles. The seas are, of course, uninhabited by Wookiees, who are not comfortable that close to the surface, dry land or not.

Each of Kashyyyk's four continents are partially inhabited with at least one major city. The largest cities include Truvvhhurr, Kamarkiia, Hoorrkhukk, Maarwraawroo, and Rwookrrorro, all of which are built around manufacturing facilities that provide Kashyyyk with trade goods for off world commerce. Smaller communities, such as Kroohhuhwoor, Orriorr, and Rarrhkrrorrho, tend to focus on agricultural goods sold on Kashyyyk itself.

Most tend to think of Kashyyyk as covered in wroshyr trees as land without tree growth accounts for only half a percent of Kashyyyk's surface, but the surface of Kashyyyk is almost 40% water. Even on Kashyyyk's seas, there is a considerable amount of tree cover far, far above.

The Wookiees divide the wroshyr forests into seven vertical levels. The top level is occupied by the Wookiees, and it is further subdivided into the highest level (the nursery ring, where Wookiee children are minded and educated while their parents work), the habitation level (where Wookiee families dwell and work), and the maintenance level (where most Wookiee public utilities are located, including sewage and power generation).

As one travels farther down, it becomes increasingly more dangerous. A few predators exist on the level directly below the Wookiees' level, but these are small and easily circumvented. On the third level down, carnivorous syren plants exist in massive numbers and sizes.

Below this level, things swiftly turn lethal. The fourth level down is inhabited by deadly predators, to whom a full-grown Wookiee warrior is little more than a passing challenge.

The next two levels are known as the Shadow Forest, the part of the forest too far below the canopy for light to penetrate. This is the domain of the webweavers, giant, spiderlike creatures capable of devouring the most powerful Wookiee in a single bite. The Shadow Forest is a colossal maze of adhesive webs, where the slightest tremor attracts the attention of the webweavers.

Finally, the ground level is given over to swamps, inland lakes, and sluggish rivers. The fauna at this level is more strange than lethal (though there is a fair amount of the latter), and most of the creatures live in complete darkness broke only by the occasional patch of phosphorescent flora. A few creatures provide their own illumination, which usually attracts the attention of ground-level predators, so these creatures are either prolific or extremely dangerous in their own right.

Wookiee legends tell of gigantic monsters that prowl the deepest reaches of Kashyyyk's mighty forests, and the Wookiees know all too well that those legends are grounded in perilous truth. Those few Wookiees who travel down this far below rarely return.

It has been a slow regrowth for Kashyyyk. The destruction done by the Sith Forces in some places is feared to be unrepairable. For now, the Wookies and other intellignet beings are working together to get Kashyyyk back to the way it once was.

Gorn wandered through his native village, followed by a group of about thirty wookies. He spoke to them in growls. (Translated from wookish)"Come... The Ritual Beast is waiting... The Hunt has begun. You have been training for this for ages; you are the best hunters on the planet. We will face the terentatek, and we will win!" The group then begins the descent towards Kashyyyk Shadowlands, with the greatest hunters Kashyyk can provide. They bear advanced weaponry, coking them as they ride the long elevator down.

Dameon grinned. So he did have much more in common with this crimminal...then again, it barely matter. He shrugged, letting the smile fade to a smirk. Perhaps he could take care of his appitite here. Yes. That would be good. Then again...he'd have to be careful.

"Hmn...how long's it been...?" His voice was barely audible, his words meant for himself as he turned and looked about. His dark hair caught on a misty breeze and his eyes seemed to almost glow. He shook his head, rattling loose the thoughts. He didn't need to remember why it was he had left. Didn't need the stress pulling at his conscience. It had been a long time ago...anyone it involved was sure to be long since dead. "Lead the way... you know it better than I."

Ug hale walked across the wooden walkways high up in the branches and made his way further into the depth of the wookiees home. Wookiee children played together in front and were a bit startled by the strangers they saw. an older looking wookiee turned to them both unsure what to make and gave a weary growl. Then stood between the children and ug hale as he passed by. ug hale made sure to cover his features with his hood and hide his weapons as he watched them from a far while moving ahead. ug sneered at them and looked on with a disgusted look on his face.

"Huh, kids. Lets keep moving."

he began to walk towards an elevator that went to the lower levels.

Dameon paused, however, reaching up to pull the cowl of his hood back from his boyish face. Golden eyes regarded the older Wookiee for a moment, burning with the intensity of a natural born predator. Then he smiled down at one of the younger Wookiees with a kindly nature. He had always had a bit of a spot for children. They were so pure... so innocent... so scary.

Dameon walked up slowly towards the adult Wookiee, his motions almost feline-like. Yes, he moved like a big, scary house-cat. The adult gave a grunting chortle of a sound and Dameon gave a soft nod before taking half a step backwards. His voice was like warm velvet, soft and unobtrusive. "Shaaw? Can you tell me if he's still alive?"

The large Wookiee's eyes widened before growing narrow. He let out a soft noise before pointing down in one direction. One of the youngsters peer around their elder's legs and looked up at the strange Dameon. Dameon listened to the directions before giving a most thankful nod of his head. "That indeed, undoubtedly so. Yes, pass the word, if you would..."

After another soft grunt the dark haired man gave a nod of his head.

"Dameon..." With another grin he turned and slowly picked his way back towards Ug Hale. When he was beside the Hammerhead once more he grinned good-naturedly, "So, you don't like kids? Is that it? I think the young man was quite charming."

eek

"Oh good heavens no!" Dameon bit his lip. How could he explain that it had been well over a century or more since he'd been here? He shook his head voilently. "I may have many talents, but I much prefer staying out of things if I can. He merely was polite enough to confirm an old aquantence of mine is still alive and apparently very respected here. No doubt the young lad will show up to find us when he deems the time right. So until then I suggest we try our hardest to go the other way. He might still have a bit of a chip on his shoulder..."

Golden eyes peered about the crowd almost casually, the shadows of knowledge hidden well within. This... could turn ugly.

Acquaintances huh? Ug hale had a feeling he new where this was going. he had, had enough experiences to know what was meant by acquaintances.

"very well. We will try to stay clear of this man you once new. we shall head in the opposite direction, but if we find the palace takes us to him then that is were we will have to go."

He led the way through the streets pat groups of the wookiees. Ug hale wondered exactly what this man was to Dameon. He new only that dameon was a type of mercenary out to find someone he lost, but if there was some hidden secret about his identity that perhaps ug hale could profit from he would have to find out.

"Perhaps you could tell me a bit about this man who you would rather stay away from. It intrigues me." Ug hale kept his expressions unchanged thou many sly thoughts entered his mind.

Dameon gave a soft understanding nod of his head. His darker half having long since slipped back beneath that stain on his soul. He understood where this was heading, but responded in casual honsety anyway.

"He was but a Youngling when last I saw him, though things were so hectic at the time... I didn't have the time to explain to him what had happened..." He ran dark-tinted nails through equally dark hair and breathed a sigh. "He had quite a temper, I'll tell you that. I didn't expect him to stay here after the accident... I guess it was just stupid of me to assume such... but most would have left."

He shrugged. His words spoken as though he had complete trust in Ug Hale, even if they didn't tell him much.

Ug hale was surprised at the young mans attitude, he seemed almost to friendly. ug hale found it odd for dameon to be so forth right with him, he spoke truthly and did not question ug hales need for answers. ug hale felt almost sorry for his underhanded thought, but not quite. Above all, he valued opportunity and if there was one to be had by this, he would take advantage of it.

"Tell me of this accident, was it you who caused it?"

Ug hale kept moving, showing no interest in his voice to any answer he got, although it was clear he was very interested.

"An accident is named such because it was unintentional and left nobody at fault." Dameon claimed with a soft matter-of-fact voice. "Regardless of popular belief."

He turned his head to the side, as if listening to something. Then he smirked sadly before looking back to where his feet were leading him. "It was a long time ago... I had stopped by to pick up a favor a friend owed me. My ship had seen better days and I was in dire need of a long bath and a hot meal. His family took me in as though I was his brother... and still... I couldn't protect them......"

Dameon was quiet for a long time, his frown sorrowfully remorseful as he followed Ug Hale's lead. It had been so long ago... and so many other things had happened since... and yet... he still remembered the wench and why she had come. Had remembered the crashlanding and the flight that had brought him swiftly to his old companion. Yes... he still remembered.

"What did they need protecting from...?" He sighed, tediously running pale fingers through dark unruly hair. His voice dropped to a soft sound of sadness. "...from my past."
