Chobi:
It had been a rough night for Kumo in his crystal lined den. Those glowing crystals kept him up, and his sister kicked him. Needless to say, Kumo was a bit of a zombie the following morning. He didnt even really want to eat when he got up which was out of character for the young pup in deed.
For a good hour or so he just stood there, zombiefied, in the mouth of the den. A loud croak from a near by toad sobered him some.
"Huh?" He blinked and looked around. Kumos siblings and parents seemed to have left him alone. Had he been that tired? Kumo yawned and ventured out of the den. Maybe he should go find them, or... he could use this time to nap. Nap sounded good.
Kitty:
Nearby an adult male was searching for a small meal, something that wouldn't be hard to kill. Masozi usually perfered to be alone, but for some reason today had brought him close to an occuipied area, he knew he ought to be careful, since others didn't usually enjoy thier territories being picked over. If he was challenged he'd move on.
At the local water source he dipped his maw to drink and his pink eyed gaze watched a toad, he'd never tried to eat a toad before, he wondered if they'd be hard to catch, and if they tasted as weird as they looked. Before he could finish his drink the toad decided to move on, and so it lived a little longer, Masozi gave a careless shrug and lifted his head, moving now from the water's edge.
Chobi:
Kumo heard the toad again. Just when he was about to actually get some sleep too the damn slimey creature had ruined that though. Oh now it was gonna pay. Yes. Kumo made his way through the tall grass and reeds toward the river bank.
He stopped before he even reached the sand though. A shape caught his eye. Another hyena? The scent followed there after, yeah, another. Not one he knew though. Kumo stayed frozen in the tall grass. The toad croaked again.
Kitty:
Masozi turned and headed a different way than he had come, this area was nice, but there wasn't anything alive- wait, he caught scent, some movement, in the grasses ahead, he stalked forward, as he got nearer his hope vanished. A pup, another of his own kind... he gave a humorless laugh, he wasn't the type to kill his own kind, or childern, never kids... "Hey," he grumbled in a gravely sort of voice, "I can smell ya hidin' there kiddo. Yer family gonna run me off, or you out on your own, hmm?" His tone was a bit flat and emotionless, as if he didn't care one way or the other.
Chobi:
Kumo swallowed, he'd been found out. His neck craned up so he could look up at the bigger one. Slowly, the pup took a few steps forward revealing him self to the world out side.
"N-no sir.. N-no ones gonna run you off." They were far away enough at least that Ylva wouldn't storm a stranger off. This was no lion either. Even though a rather odd lion lived with them. Kumo never really understood the concept of chasing off lions, yet, one lived side by side with the family.
The hyena shook his head to clear his thoughts. He was clearly tired. "May I ask.." He coughed gathering up his courage, "What you're doing here?"
Kitty:
Again a chuckle fell from his maw. "That's nice to hear. Me, well... Just passing through, looking for a meal." He sat where he was, and then lay down, folding an arm and lazing, to show he was no threat. He glanced over the little male he looked strong and healthy enough, if a little sleepy, that was good, always good to see healthy little ones.
"If that's alright of course," he smiled, humoring the polite little one, "You look like you get enough to eat, so there must me something living around here, besides our kind."
Chobi:
Kumo's walls quickly crumbled down and his trust fled out.
"Oh yes!" The hyena nodded, "There's lots to eat round here. I'm not old enough yet but mom always seems to be able to find us something." Kumo sat up and gave the stranger a trusting naive smile.
"Traveling?" He tilted his head. The pup had been out of the den with his parents but he was never allowed to stray to far away. Ylva was a very protective mother. "Whats that like?"
Kitty:
Masozi tilted his head, the first thing that came to mind fell from his mouth without emotion, "Lonely," it was the first time he had admitted it to anyone, and kid of all people, he tried to quickly cover. "It's not all that bad though, I've seen lots of places and I get to meet all kinds of interesting folk. Like yourself." -chuckle-
He stretched his legs out the morning was nice and cool here nearby the water, but the toad, or one of it's kin had started up again, croaking away. His large ears swiveled towards the sound. "Ye ever eat one of them toads?" He raised an eyebrow, maybe they weren't all that bad...
Chobi:
The pup tilted his head at the lonely comment but shrugged it off. He wasn't sure what the male had meant really and being so young didn't dwell on it.
"Oh toads?" He glared at the one he assumed had woken him from his nap. "You don't want to eat the ones with to many bumps. You're spit will start to bubble like foam.." Kumo only knew this because he had tried eating one once. Ylva thought he had gone mad when he returned home. Ever since then the pup stayed clear of them.
"What you want is a frog, or better yet , a fish," The pup hopped onto his feet and padded to the river shore. Kumo was no expert on fishing being so young, but he knew you could eat them. He watched Chane, the lion friend to the family, catch fish down here before.
"I think you just swat the water... ?" He stared at his reflection.
Kitty:
Mosozi just smiled, shaking his head at his own loose tongue, glad that the kiddo didn't seem to catch what he's spilt. He stood to follow the youth over to the river's edge. "Hmmm, doesn't sounds too good then, perhaps I'll pass on that idea, no need for a mad dog impression, hmm, just incase someone else wanders along." He trod into the edge of the water, his feet sinking into the mud and stood still, watching for things moving under the surface, he had no idea how to fish either, but maybe if one came near enough he could easily snap it up, that seemed a plan. "Tell me if you see any come near?" He lifted a paw and shook it to free the clinging mud, and then gently pawed at the surface, unclear on the method, but willing to give it a try.
Chobi:
Kumo nodded and kept focused. He had a special job that was all his and he would do a good job of it. But then a yawn. Followed by another. The pup was sleepy no doubt about that.
He shook his head, he could do this.
Movement caught his eye, something big seemed to be attracted to the smaller wiggling things that had woken.
"Now!" Kumo yipped.
