No matter what you did to become a Rogue, you start at the very top of the list. Making it to the bottom of the list is indeed going to require some serious skill.
Rogue Rankings:
E Rank: This is where everyone starts, even if you destroyed two villages and everyone inside.
D Rank: To obtain this rank, a rogue must attack and defeat one person from their old village
C Rank: To obtain this rank, a rogue must attack and kill two shinobi
B Rank: To obtain this rank, a rogue must attack and kill four shinobi
A Rank: To obtain this rank, a rogue must attack and defeat a Bijuu user, or kill six people
S Rank: To obtain this rank, a rogue must attack and kill someone of Kage rank, or kill 10 people
