Alexis yawned, quickly pulling the sheets from her bed off of her body and stepped off of the bed. She grabbed her uniform off of the end of her bed and walked to the shared bathroom closest to her and quickly shut the door, glad that there didn't seem to be a line that particular morning. She was a bit surprised, as well, but that was a welcomed surprise. The less people needing to use the restroom, the quicker she could get to her work for the day. She clicked the lock inside of the bathroom and quickly stripped herself of the pajamas she had slept in the night before. Almost as soon as her clothes had hit the ground, she was replacing them with new undergarments and her uniform. The clothes were a familiar green, the skirt almost (if not completely) matching her eyes. The shirt was merely a few shades lighter and complimented it nicely. When she was fully clothed, she grabbed her clothes and balled them up, quickly walking back to her bed and dropping the dirty clothes into her bag, deciding to simply leave them there until she had enough clothes to do her own laundry.

As she stuffed her clothes in the bag, she heard her stomach making a familiar grumbling noise. She glared down at her belly and then sighed, walking out of the room and towards the dining hall. It didn't take her more than a few minutes to reach her destination. She only saw a few recruits around, and she didn't think that she knew any of them. At least, none well enough to consider them friends and attempt to sit with them. Besides, at least if she sat alone, then she could be left to her thoughts and food. Looking around for a table that had few or no one at it, she scowled as she saw all of the tables in the corner or close to the wall had been taken. Not letting it discourage her too much, she quickly walked to the nearest table that had at least one side completely empty, and sat at the table. She sat there for a few moments, folding her arms on the table and resting her head in her hands.

After a few moments of silence in her head, as well as blocking all sound from the cafeteria out, she stood up, headed to the line (which, thankfully, was fairly short), and grabbed a tray, quickly making her way to the first item that caught her attention - a tray full of bacon, she smiled and grabbed a few pieces with a pair of tongs, dropping them onto her plates. The next item in line was sausage, which she took the same amount as before of. Finally, she grabbed two waffles, as well as some butter. She smiled, grabbing some silverware and then walked back to her table, setting the tray down and, with a yawn, grabbing a piece of bacon and beginning to eat it.

Lysander reluctantly pulled himself out of bed, eyelids drooping and limbs hopelessly tired. With a long stretch, Lysander stood, running a hand through his hair. At that point, he made a note not to forget his goggles this time, eying the pair on his dresser. He dressed in the normal Academy attire, which was stiflingly stiff with starch and other products which kept cloth from wrinkling. With a quick look in the mirror, he fixed his hair and placed his signature goggles firmly on his head. He didn't know why, but he always liked them and they were versatile. They could be worn over the eyes, on the forehead, around the neck, or any other way he could think of, though he normally didn't verge from those three aforementioned ways. After all, there were only so many ways that looked good and Lysander wasn't about to chance looking stupid, especially not in front of the ladies.

A brisk walk through the dorms and into the cafeteria later, he was ready for breakfast. He wasn't feeling particularly hungry today, so he just took a muffin (not a usual breakfast item at the Academy, but for whatever reason, the kitchen staff had decided that they would make something at least remotely edible this morning). Not bothering with a tray, he took a bite out of his muffin and looked around, scanning the room for a familiar face. Someone he recognized as Alexis Hale caught his eyes. Since they were somewhat familiar now, Lysander sat next to her without asking. "So, Alexis," he said, taking another bite from his muffin. "How much did you miss me?" He smiled mischievously.

Alexis, taking a few more bites of her bacon strip, glanced to her side as a now-familiar voice began to talk to her. She laughed once, looking at him and, teasingly, replying, "Oh, you were gone?" She smirked as she finished her short phrase. Deciding that she didn't want to let his presence interfere with her eating, she continued to eat the piece of bacon that was in her hand. She subtly shifted her body weight at the same time so that she would be able to see him and see his face as he responded without needing to crane her neck to do so. As she was looking at him, a scowl tried it's best to escape onto her face, but failed. 'I didn't see any muffins… Oh well, I suppose I have enough here for breakfast.' She thought with another yawn escaping her mouth. She quickly raised her hand in order to meet it, not wanting her breathe to appall him. Sure, she didn't know him well, but she certainly didn't want to scare him off by being ridiculously rude and yawning in his face. She knew how bad food breathe could smell.

She felt as though something was off - something was different about him, but she couldn't tell what it was. She quietly scanned him with her eyes, letting them stop on his hair before deciding that wasn't it. She then looked towards his face, her eyes jerking to a stop and resting on the goggles on his head. She tilted her head and arched an eyebrow in a surprised and somewhat confused look. She took another bite of the bacon, "Lysander, what are those?" She questioned, deciding she would have noticed something like that if he had been wearing them the last time that they met. It was obvious they were goggles, and she was hoping he wouldn't point it out, but what she really wanted to know was why he was wearing them.

When Alexis answered his question Lysander pouted playfully. "You're so cruel," he replied with a mock hurt voice. "I can hardly imagine the way you must treat your boyfriend." He smiled coyly. It was a subtle way of asking whether she had one or not. Because if she did and he showed up, things would be a bit awkward, especially if he was the jealous type. In any case, if he was, she'd likely break up with him in favor of Lysander. To his knowledge, girls didn't like the jealous type. Lysander certainly didn't like the jealous type. The jealous type of girls, that is. After all, Lysander was a natural flirt. He couldn't help it if whatever girlfriend he had at the moment would have a problem with that. Regardless, it was up to her to decide whether she had a problem with it or not, and up to her boyfriend (if he even existed) if he had a problem with Lysander. It wasn't like it was a problem, though. If push came to shove, Lysander could just kick his a** and make everything all better. Girls tended to think worse of him after things like that, though. Depending on her personality, he wondered if he should play martyr or play tough if a situation like that occurred.

What's this now? Was she looking him over? This, he liked. He turned toward her, giving her his most dashing smile and giving her a good view of his torso. He tried his best to keep from sighing. Clothes always did ruin the view. Oh well. If she was really interested, Lysander could just give her the super deluxe premium view later on. He did pride himself on his fitness, after all. That thought made him smile a bit. He took a bite from his muffin. Her next question made him choke on it. Lysander coughed a bit and hit himself on the chest a few times. Swallowing, he replied, "You're kidding, right?" Her expression certainly didn't look playful. He held his palm to his face and inhaled deeply. "Goggles are forms of protective eyewear that usually enclose or protect the area surrounding the eye in order to prevent particulates, water or chemicals from striking the eyes. Goggles are often worn when using-" He stopped. The look on her face told him that was definitely not the answer she was looking for. "That is..." Lysander adjusted them, looking for an answer that might be more pleasing. What kind of answer did she want?

Alexis laughed lightly as Lysander pouted. Her laugh only grew as he mentioned her boyfriend. Oh, what a thought that was. "Haha. I don't have a boyfriend. I don't really… Well, I don't think I could stay focused on training and be in a super committed relationship." She said lightly, she quickly finished the bacon, then picked up another one and began to slowly munch on it like the other one. She had to wonder, though, would it be better to have a boyfriend in the academy? At least that way she would have someone to talk to about the drills that presented problems to her without worry of word getting out about it, and he could give her tips or help her practice. But he would only invade her thoughts when she needed focus - that's what she told herself, anyways.

She couldn't help but laugh as he choked. Perhaps it was a bit cruel, but it was funny. That her question could catch him that off-guard… Well, it amused her. She shook her head at his first question, one that she assumed was completely rhetorical. She tried her best to keep a straight face as he began to tell her the exact definition and use of goggles, but to no avail. She began laughing, but not in an obnoxiously loud way. "Are you like, a human dictionary or something?" She asked sarcastically. She laughed a second longer before rolling her eyes, "I meant, why do you have them on?" She said, specifying her original question. 'I suppose it was a bit vague…' She thought, but quickly pushes it aside. What was done was done.

A mental trigger in Lysander's brain was pulled as soon as Alexis said she didn't have a boyfriend. He couldn't help but think, Score! Lysander nodded in understanding and added, "But seriously, we're in the Academy. There's no telling whether you'll bond or just be sent back to The City or The Farms." He finished his muffin and continued, "Everyone here either understands that or is twelve." Lysander certainly didn't think that anyone here was looking for something serious. And if they were, they were too young for him anyway. Lysander stretched his arms and popped his knuckles in an attempt to become less tired. The mind was willing, but the flesh was still recovering from sleep.

Lysander laughed at her question. Although he assumed it was rhetorical, he answered, "Only with things that I like. For example... Alexis is a pretty girl currently living at the Academy. She has pretty dirty blonde hair and a charming personality." Lysander winked, smiling. "I wear these because they make me irresistible to women," he answered, laughing again. "Tell me; how well are they working?" He propped his elbow on the table and rested his head in an open palm.

Alexis grinned and laughed lightly at Lysander's words. It was nice to know she wasn't the only one who wasn't looking for a relationship, or to think that others shouldn't be searching for a serious while in Academy. She took a few more bites of bacon before finishing it and looking at her tray, deciding she wasn't very hungry anymore, but she would most likely nibble on it until she had to do some drills or something else seemed to be more interesting. But, it seemed the latter would (most likely) happen first, seeing as she hadn't seen the Drill Sergeant in a little while, or even heard anything about the Drill Sergeant. Why was that? It wasn't like the Drill Sergeant to disappear for random amounts of time.

She arched an eyebrow as Lysander began speaking, smirking slightly as he began 'defining' her. She laughed as he said that the goggles made him irresistible, but didn't answer until he continued speaking. "Well, I'm not sure about the goggles, but I'd say you're working pretty hard, huh?" She said, laughing lightly again. He was pretty handsome, and it was very flattering. He seemed to understand where she was coming from, too. "So, tell me why you're trying so hard~." She chimed in a sweetly convincing voice.

Good, she'd taken the bait. The goggle line always worked like a charm. It had been said that every woman is looking for a man who could make her laugh and as much laughing as Alexis had been doing (whether from scorn or genuine good humor), it seemed like Lysander had gotten the type of reaction he had wanted. She'd fallen for it hook, line, and sinker. Not that he was expecting any different. After all, Lysander was prominsing exactly what she was expecting, something with no strings attached. "Trying? You misunderstand. I'm always this charming." He winked and smiled. "But the company certainly helps." The muffin he'd finished no more than a minute ago had only served as an appetizer. Eating, when not as much as their usual amount, only served to make people more hungry. Lysander glanced at Alexis's plate for a split second, but moved back to the girl's eyes quickly. He knew better than to ask to share food on the first date. And, really, if Lysander was doing his job correctly, that's what this was, even if Alexis didn't know it yet. Thinking about that, Lysander forgot his hunger. Dates were never really about the food.

Lysander cleaned his teeth with his tongue while his mouth was closed, readying himself for another dashing, toothy smile. It was always a huge turn off for him when girls had food stuck in their teeth (though his staring at their teeth rather than their other, usually very emphasized by their clothing, girly parts hinted at it enough for them to notice and clean it), so he had always assumed it would be the same for the women he dated. It made him thankful that his mother had always made sure he brushed his teeth growing up. Lysander didn't know what he'd do if his teeth were anything like some of the other male students' here. But, alas, his teeth were perfectly white and nearly perfectly straight.

Alexis smirked. "Oh really?" She questioned rhetorically. She laughed lightly as he mentioned the company. Was he really that interested in a 'relationship' with no real commitment? He hadn't seemed that interested in her before she had mentioned that she didn't want a committed relationship - but that could just have been her misinterpreting how he was acting and what he was saying. Alas, she couldn't say that she didn't want a… What would the word be? Well, fling. Even if she found that having a relationship wasn't appropriate for the Academy students, she still couldn't find a valid argument against a fling. It would be all physical, right? No emotional attachments, no one holding the other back when it came to bonding.

Not knowing what to follow her question up with, she put her elbows on the table, folding her hands together and resting her head on top of them. She still had no inkling of an idea of what to say. "So," She began, pushing her tray a few inches away from herself with one hand, "what do you suggest we do until the Drill Sergeant comes?" She questioned innocently.

Lysander smirked, an all too familiar glint appearing in his eyes. A question like that begged for just the answer he had in mind. Of course, there was no need to scare her off right away. After all, they'd spent maybe two breakfasts together. For all she knew, Lysander could be a complete douche bag. Before it ever got to anything physical (though the wait was a total bummer), she'd probably want to go through that whole 'dating' process. That, and Lysander wanted to know that she wasn't a complete airhead. That shouldn't have been really important, but somewhere along the line, his brain and other unmentionable extremities became connected. The only way he could have a fling with an airhead was if she was really good (and he meant really good) at hiding it. That wasn't to say that Lysander felt like he was better than them or anything, just that to sleep with one was a physical impossibility.

"Oh, I can think of a number of things," Lysander mused, stroking an imaginary goatee with his thumb and forefinger. That was the extent of his playfulness, however, as he soon began listing a few mediocre, but still somewhat entertaining tasks. "Well, we could study, play a card game, or just sit here talking," he suggested. All of them sounded equally dull. Lysander would have suggested going outside, but it was dreadful in the winter. He hoped that she would find them just as boring so they could get to the fun stuff already. It wasn't like it had been long yet, but he was already getting impatient. It seemed like Alexis wanted the same thing, but he couldn't be sure. Why did girls always have to play coy?
