 Mikaile stared out at the herd of zebra, only half paying attention to their movements. Instead he was thinking about something else entirely...about where the hell his twin had run off to when hunger was slowly starting to creep in on his stomach. He was always gone at the most annoying times...well, at least that's what he'd like to tell himself. In reality he was gone in the best and worst of it all; sometimes he'd leave Mikaile alone with a lovely lady and other times he'd leave him just plain bored.
Today was just a little worse because of the hunger issue. He was strong enough to take down a healthy zebra by himself, sure, but it was rarely about strength in the beginning...the surprise was needed first. It was hard to herd zebra when you were by yourself. So instead he sat, half staring at them as though that would help. He wasn't so hungry that he needed to go running around after them aimlessly, but they sure were tempting.
Man, what a drag. He hoped his brother would return soon so they could not only play with their food, but eat it too.

 Shibasa silently cursed as his stomach rumbled noisily. He hadn't been having much luck with hunting, and that herd of zebra was looking mighty tasty. He scowled and crept around them, searching for the weakest of the lot. It'd be easiest just to stampede them and jump the smallest. Sure it wouldn't be that big of a meal, but he was a rogue lion. Nobody was scoring his attack. He crouched, his belly almost to the ground, his tail twitching. And just as he was about to scare the hell out of them, he caught sight of another lion not very far from him. Okay, maybe someone would be scoring his attack. Dammit!

Mikaile yawned widely, showing his dark tongue and white teeth. He then twisted back a little to scratch his ear with his hind claws. It was only after he had relieved the itch that he looked back at the herd again. They weren't scared of him right now because he wasn't doing anything dangerous. While that might change later, for now he was no threat.
That didn't mean, however, that the bub in the grasses a bit to his left wasn't. Well, Mikaile didn't think of him as much of one because he was alone...when taking on fast prey, you were never much of a threat by yourself. That's why the ladies usually did it so well, working together. And that was why he wished his twin was here.
"Oi, you going to chase 'em around and just run them off? I don't think that'll do you much good, pal." And he'd have to find another spot to sit and wait where there was food to watch.

"So you're an advocate of the sit-on-your-a**-and-yawn theory of hunting," Shibasa drawled sarcastically. "Yeah, I can see how that works for you. Tell me, do they die of boredom or laughter first?"
Dammit, dammit, dammit! Why'd he have to run into this guy? If he was going to run into anyone, he'd have preferred someone... Female, to begin with.
His stomach growled, reminding him of his problem. There was food, right in front of him. There was an a** right beside him. What was a lion supposed to do?

"They don't die at all if you chase them away...and as you can see, they aren't running as of yet," Mikaile gaufed, torn between just laughing flat out at this male who obviously had a stick jabbed so far up his a** that he could be one of his older brothers, Kai, or whether to get into a brawl for amusement. Both were more entertaining than waiting for his twin, anyway.
He just wished it had been a pretty piece of tail here to give him some enjoyment instead of...this guy. He didn't look like a complete push over, but being born and raised as a warrior in the desert he had different standards of strength than others did. This guy might have it hard, but he didn't know what it could be like.
"You must be pretty desparate if you're going to go run flat at 'em right now," he laughed, apparently choosing the first of the two methods for the time being. "Could be fun though, I'll give you that. If you stir 'em up I'll run with you...they're real funny when they're making that scared sound of thiers."

Shibasa groaned, falling over pathetically. "I was just gonna grab one of the lame ones," he admitted, giving up. "I haven't eaten in days." He closed his eyes, not explaining why he hadn't eaten in days. It was none of this guy's business.
And if those damn abandoned cubs hadn't begged him for his last kill, he wouldn't be this pathetic in front of someone. He had ran the moment they looked like they were getting attached. The last thing he needed was three more mouths to feed.

Awww, so this guy wasn't so great after all. Instead of letting himself be disappointed he simply allowed the realization to swell his ego up and bring about a wide, cocky grin. No one else could wear it quite so proudly...well, except for maybe his little sister. But she was just something else.
"Ahhh, that's no fun, buck up. How bout this...we stir 'em up and see if we can catch a real meal hu?" As if to stress how generous his offer was he leaned back and gave his eat another good scratch, "But I'm not nearly has hungry as you are, if if you aren't game I'm fine with just waiting for my brother to come back and sharing with him instead..."

An evil grin pulled at Shibasa's lips, revealing his fangs for a second, then disappeared. "If it's not a problem," he said, standing up a bit too smoothly. He stretched and looked at the zebras. "I'll take the right."

Mikaile thought he was ever so clever, taking advantage of this lion to feed his own stomach. Of course, had he really been as clever as he thought, or even half as clever as his twin, he would have seen what the stranger was doing. Instead he grinned, proud of their little bargin, and slowly slipped into a smooth standing position.
"Alright, flush them in my direction, mmm? If you can do that one'll be flat on the ground in a pinch," he laughed, but kept his body loose. It wasn't really a conscious move, but it was a smart one none the less. The zebra had seen him sit there all day long and do nothing. He might be able to snag one of them with that sort of thing in mind.

"Alright," Shibasa said, his attention on the zebras now. This guy had an ego the size of the Savannah! But it would get him a bigger meal than a lame zebra. All he had to do was--
He abruptly let out a roar, spooking the herd before he raced as fast as he could to the right. Away from the other male.

Amature. Geez, didn't this guy at least know how to listen? Mikaile scoffed, shaking his mane loose as the zebra darted in the wrong direction. He was tempted to just let the male chase them around helpless since...well, he had done it wrong anyway. But the tempation to show off was too grand. He'd show this guy how it was done.
He wasn't the fastest lion. Speed wasn't his greatest asset, it was his strength. So instad of running flat after the zebra, he followed thier fleeing pattern, which was direction by the other male. He was able to bring himself into a position close enough that he could use what little speed he did have to chase down a healthy mare. Once he managed to hook his claws into her flesh he was able to use his great bulk to bring her down. It was a messy job, with her bucking around and almost getting loose a few times. His twin would have teased him endlessly afterwards. But still, he'd caught it, even with the other lion's big screw up.

Okay, so he didn't know how to hunt with help. But it had gotten the zebras moving, and that was what he liked! Usually, that was, he realized as he stopped running. Usually he was fast enough to catch something. But he was too weak right now to even catch a flu. With a groan he sat down, feeling like an idiot.
"Did you get something?" he called to the other male reluctantly.

"Of course," Mikaile called back. "No thanks to you," he added. Despite the comment, he didn't seem upset. He seemed pleased with himself and just as confident as before. As much of a jackass as he was, moments like t his didn't do anything to ease his ego into its rightful place. So instead he took his pride and confidence up, laughing a bit at his own success and at how the stranger hadn't even managed his simple instruction. He wasn't much of a leader anyway, so he couldn't say he cared very much.
"No wonder you're so hungry," he chuckled.

"Give me some," Shibasa said, disliking this guy more and more. Had he been in good condition he would have smacked that laugh off of his face, he told himself as he walked over. The world blurred in front of him for a second before coming back to focus. "When I've eaten I'll be able to catch something."

"I dunno, you didn't help very much," Mikaile said with a wide grin. He didn't have the common sense to look out for fights in strong lions, let alone ones that were half starved. Besides, he liked a good brawl. This guy probably wouldn't have been up for one, though. He was going to have his fun in any way he could.
"What do you saaaay?" He held back another laugh.
