Devil's Secret was lost-plain and simple. She had thought that she remembered the way back to her parents' herdlands but she had gotten turned around somewhere and now she was lost. She sighed deeply and looked around the unfamiliar plains that she now stood around. This year wasn't going very well for her. She wondered if she would ever see her parents again-or her mate-to-be. Her parents had promised her the Beta pair's son as her mate but now things were looking grimmer than she realized. 'Maybe those humans took them. Maybe this is the area but they were captured by the humans,' she thought to herself, making her slightly depressed state more depressed. She closed her eyes and let her mind wander. All hope was lost for her.

There simply wasn't much to do by oneself, as one rather bored mustang had discovered earlier that day. Spook normally thought herself to be somewhat social, at least on the aspect that she neither shunned nor discouraged the company of strangers, so a few weeks without anyone to keep her company quite nearly drove her impatience over the edge. It was the curse of being a loner she understood, that company came and went as she or it pleased, and this little aspect of her current life made her quite possibly fed up with the entire affair.
It was in this state of sulking and mindlessly pawing a thin layer of frost that clung to the ground, that Spook caught the scent of someone near by. Well, not nearby enough for her to just look up and be eye to eye with, but across the valley and on the opposite side of some low brush there was a figure in the distance. Brown and with a black mane and tail from what she could tell, but the distance made it difficult to discern any details. Seeing no harm in approaching the other mustang, the flaxen maned mare set off at a quick trot, ears pricked in interest and head held high in spirit as always.

[ooc: sorry about the delay. if I go more than 2 weeks w/o posting, poke me via PM please ^^;]
Devil sighed and pawed at the ground nervously. Why couldn't she remember the way back home? It was then that she heard the familiar sound of hoofbeats and she quickly spun around, expecting to see one of her herd-mates running towards her but when she spotted the horse that was running towards her, her look of excitement feel into a disappointed look. She didn't recognize this horse running towards her. In fact, she didn't really expect a complete stranger to come running towards her.
She tilted her head to one side. Maybe this was one of her herd-mates and she didn't really remember because she was so young when she was separated from the herd. As the other horse got closer to her, she noticed that this wasn't a herd-mate from her father's herd. Sighing, she pinned her ears back against her skull. Hopefully this stranger must have seen her father's herd and might lead her in the right direction.

(No problem, and will do.)
As the mare jogged forward and got closer, she couldn't help but oversee the display of emotions from the bay. In fact, she kind of got the feeling she was disappointed in seeing the chocolate mare trotting up out of no where. That was none of Spook's concern however, for such a notion she wouldn't bother with. That's just how the flaxen-maned mustang was, always perceptive, never really caring either way. Halting her stride a respectible distance away, and within normal talking earshot, Spook couldn't help the curious look that passed over her face. "Greetings stranger," she began, but jutted her muzzle in a gesture to the other's pinned ears, "You seem disappointed." It wasn't her business to rut around someone's personal life, and that's certainly not what she was looking to do, but she couldn't help her mild case of curiousity.

[knew i would forget this easily x.x blah. i fail at replying in a timely manner]
Midnight relaxed a little when the other mare stopped at a reasonable distance away from her. She was afraid that the other mare might suddenly attack her for doing something that she did that she didn't know that she had done. She flicked an ear forward slightly to hear what the other mare was speaking to her.
"Greetings," she said in a slightly dull tone of voice. "I've seemed to have lost my herd." Over a year ago, she thought to herself. The other mare didn't really need to know that little bit of information. "Maybe you've seen them? The lead mare looks a little like me but has a slightly darker coat and the lead stallion is a dark bay that is at least two hands taller than you are."

Spook remained still except for the occasional flick of her tail to the wind, her ears pricked and listening to what was being said. Oh bother, she mentally grumped, trying to recall just how many bay mustangs she had run into recently. It was a very common color, bay, and Spook couldn't help but kick out with a hind hoof and stamp it to the ground as she was reminded of this fact. Usually she had a fairly good memory about such things, for she liked to avoid large herds and that was better done if one remembered who the alphas were on sight alone. Still, she was having a difficult time with the describtion and finally resolved herself to asking more. Ugh, it usually wasn't her style to do so, but if it would help than she really didn't see a choice in the matter. "Afraid I can't help you too much there, is there anything else you can tell me about them?" A name would be nice, or the size of the herd, anything to narrow down the bays in the area. It was slightly less common for the two leads to both be bay, and that helped, but most of the time Spook remembered names better than anything.

Midnight Shadow tilted her head a little bit to one side when Spook asked for more details. She tried to remember more about the herd that she had gotten separated from. "Have you heard of the Shadow Gaiden herd?" she asked the other mare, wondering if wind of the herd had gotten this far. "My mother's name is...." She paused for a few seconds to try and remember her mother's name. Why couldn't she remember it? "Nightbird, and my father's is... Shadow Creek."
