Spriggin Likes: Computer games, Codeing, Going where he isn't suppost to... Dislikes: Agressive people, loud noises, People thinking he is female >_> Date of Death: April 7th 2005 Personality: Spriggin is your typical geek, except he actually has a little bit of an ego. While around the females he becomes a pile of goo and around males larger than him he has a tendancy to slink around, but if you caught him in his element he is Lord and Master. His only wish in life was to become the best hacker in history and to get laid. The first seemed to have possibly happened (why else did he die) the second however is now virtually impossible. As wonderful as it is to finally have the girl he was looking for, he did not wish for it to be him... History: Joshua was a 'normal' computer geek of 16 who devoted his sunless life to computers. From an early age he identified more with electronics than people. This ment two things; he was able to work out a multitude of programming issues and he never even had a chance with getting a girl in his entire life. This would be his demise. After getting a name for himself in the net underground, Spriggin, as he was know there was able to get into quite a few places he shouldn't have. One such was a little know agency who decided to 'take an interest' in Sprig. Sending a rather good looking woman was like sending a pure maiden to catch the unicorn. Hook, line and sinker, he took the job and got himself tracked. Not that he didn't put up a good fight, the odds were just stacked pretty high against him. After ironically being electrocuted by being thrown out of a ten story window (catching at powerlines is not a good idea when you hit the ground) he woke up the next day with a hangover... and boobs. Power: Phasing/invisibility (ghosty stuff) and short things... like computers. It happens completely at random, he is not trained at all. The Hook It had been a long night. Joshua picked up a half eaten bar of chocolate and gnawed on it, letting the sweet taist crumble on his teeth. A swig of pepsi later and he was ready to finish the rest of his report. How he wished for a bit of a diversion, something that would engage his mind a little more than the history of Rome. Closing down his on going tetris game he added a few window to his computer screens and continued his search on some obscure information that he could add into his essay. Hitting a button in fustration and boardom, the screens turned black, no longer illuminating the dark room, plunging the piles of trash into darkness. He leaned back onto his chair and streached, tounge still savoring the bitter after taist of the dark chocolate as he decided on what to do. A single beap from one of his speakers alerted him and he jabbed the screen, washing his pale face with flourescent light. A single window had popped up, alerting him that someone wished to make contact. Hitting a few keys, he opened a few programs which traced the IP adress to a secure location. This was not just an idle chat. Opening up another window he used a bot to invite the other entity to a closed off region before scrambling and hiding his own IP, accepting the invitation sent to him by the bot. A few 'other' people were in the room but all were actually voices he had created to prduce background chatting. Ignoting the few hello's he singled out the name and probed with his own welcome.Spriggin: You wished to speak with me? Nightcry: I am here to ask you for your services. Spriggin: What kind of services would they be? I am not a cyber, though i have heard it can make good money. Nightcry: I am in need of someone who hunt down a file. I am told you are one who is the best in your field. Spriggin: And who, prey tell, are those who say I am what you are looking for? Nightcry: I am told that the one who seeks shall be found at the location specified. I came here and found you. A smile creaped over Joshua's face. Now this was the excitement he was craving. The ambigus statement was his key, this one had been sent through the channels so was safe, at least for the job in question.Spriggin: Ok you have my attention. What may I do for you? Nightcry: There is a certain folder that I need extracted from a high-security facility. Within it contains various files, schematics, pass codes, that kind of thing. I am willing to pay you extremely well for your services, as I'm sure it would be difficult. Spriggin: What system are we talking about here? Most high-security facilities have internal networks that prevent an outside intruder from entering. Nightcry: This facility is unimportant. As getting in, I have the first piece of the puzzle here with me today. With it, you will be able to gain access via satellite and get into their system through space, essentially. Leaning back in his chair, Joshua thought about this. It could work, but he would need to access the satellite first. This woman had this piece apparently and was willing to hand it over for the grand prize. Granted, with this tool in his possession, it would be payment enough. He could get in undetected, he was sure of it. He leaned back towards the keyboard and began typeing.Spriggin: You seem to know your way around computers. Why are you seeking my help? I don't want to know what company, who it belongs to, etc. None of that information is important to me. What I want to know is how you came into possession of such a powerful tool. Nightcry: I am a secretary for the company I quote unquote work for. However, I have been hired from an outside source to gain access to the materials that they have requested. In short, I was offered a large sum of money, enough for me to retire on, if I could get the things they wanted. This satellite clearance wasn't that hard to get, but getting through the various traps is too hard for me. That is where you come in. Spriggin: How much money are we talking here? Nightcry: For you? Five million wired to a bank account of your choosing when I receive the files. Spriggin: Five million? Joshua was impressedSpriggin: That is a lot. And you are still having enough to retire on? I must admit, that sounds very lucrative. Nightcry: Believe me, It is. Resisting the urge to laugh at the corniness of her last statement, he instead decided to take this seriously. After all, five million would set him up for a long while. Spriggin: Okay, I can get you what you need. But I am going to need two things in return. Nightcry: And that is? Spriggin: One is that handy tool that you claim to have. The second is a million up front. Nightcry: Up front? What for? Spriggin: I need to buy some equipment for this. I have most of what I need, but I need to be purchasing some extra equipment for this. Also, it serves as a little insurance for my mind. Nightcry: I see. Well, that can be arranged. As for the tool, I can have that delivered to you instantly. As soon as we are done with this meeting, the key is yours. Anything else? Spriggin: Yes. Afterwards, I keep the key. It might not serve any purpose, but I want it for... sentimental value. Nightcry: Deal. When will you be done? Spriggin: Give me a week. It will take that long to gather everything I need. Afterwards, we can meet back here, exchange the information for the money and go our separate ways Joshua's fingers flew over the keyboard, noticing that something in the back of his head was warning him of this. He chose to ignore it.Nightcry: Okay then A screen came up in front of Joshua asking if he would accept the transfer of one million dollars. He accepted and the screen disappeared. This were looking definatly interesting about this, he could not wait to begin. Spriggin: When I am done, we will meet back here. I will send you a mail. Nightcry: Of course. I will see you in one week. *Nightcry signed off* Joshua pulled back his chair and looked at the ceiling. This was definatly intreguing and he had not had so much excitement in a while. His fingers were itching to begin. But first, he had to gather a few things.

The Job Despite how easy it seemed in the beginning, the whole job had been a hassle to prepare for. With something this complex, Joshua was unable to use anything that he all ready had in his possession. He had to buy new hardware components, such as the satellite dish and write new programs that would help him hack into the system. Reaching down under his desk, he pulled the cables lying there towards the satellite dish. Connecting them into their respective ports, he stood up and surveyed his handiwork. With a shake of his head, he chuckled. He couldn't decide if the apperance of the apartment looked worse before or after all this setup. Powering up his laptop alongside his main computers, he tapped on the keyboards, starting the necissary programs he would need to get the job done. Within seconds, it had linked up with his main system and was aiding in the decoding. While his computer was busy, he brought up the programs that he would need. Everything that he could foresee was up anti-tracing, backdoor locators, etc. His eyes looking from screen to screen, he saw that everything was showing that it was good to go. Giving a quick sigh of relief, he opened a soda can and took a sip. Closing his eyes, he leaned back once again in his chair, relaxing before he dove into the system. He yawned, rubbing his eyes from tiredness as he thought about what to do after this job. Surely he could retire to a modest life somewhere, but he would miss the kind of action that he had become accustomed too.A sound came from his speakers a while later; one that meant that it was done decoding. Sitting upright, he looked at the screen a moment, thinking which course of action would be the best. Tapping a few commands out, he began dialing into the spiderweb of information. With the password to the satellite uplink now in his possession, his computer rotated the dish in his living room so it could establish a good connection through a dummy satellite. This dummy satellite would act as a cover for him as he attempted to gain access, forcing the trackers to sift through thousands of connections before discovering his. By the time Joshua had completed his entry into a protected site, the satellite uplink was running and the code transmitted, granting him access. Through this remote uplink, Joshua allowed himself to be instantly transmitted to the compute network that was severed from the rest of the world. Left hand moving across his desk in the real world, he hit the return key on his secondary computer, starting the anti-tracing program that would give him the precious seconds that he would need. Apparently everything was working flawlessly; something that he was very glad to witness. He began searching through the various computer folders, desperately trying to locate the one that he needed. A loud beeping came from his computer; the chase was on. Taking a deep breath as he worked furiously, pausing a moment to tell his laptop to follow his example. With the two computers working in tandem and Joshua working on another part, they were able to cover a lot more ground very quickly. Taking a glance at the monitor with that showed his tracing program, he saw that his number would be coming up rather quickly in the uplinks that were being checked. However, just as he glanced back to his main screen, he saw the folder that he was after.Grabbing the folder, he began to copy it to his hard disk. While the computer ticked away with the sound of his hard disk, Joshua attempted to throw off the trackers by moving various folders on the system he was attacking to others in their network. Watching the bars move slowly, his pace quickened as he waited for the second that they were all transferred. Finger on the kill switch, everything for him seemed to stand still. There were only a hundred more computer connections for them to go through and that number was dwindling extremely quickly. Whoever they had tracing him was good. Very good. As the last bar filled on the transfer status and the window disappearing, he flipped the switch which terminated the uplink. Leaning back in his chair he glanced around; everything was quiet as far as he could tell. Standing up and stretching, he looked onto the desktop of his computer. Sure enough, the folder was there; all files being registered and accounted for. Joshua opened his fridge, wanting to have a celebration drink in honor of his success. Plopping himself down on the couch, he opened the pepsi and took a swig. He felt himself lie down, head resting on the arm of the couch. The soda still in his hand, the weight pulled his arm to the floor as he lied there on the couch. His eyes closed, breathing shallow, he passed into a fitful sleep after nearly a week of intense preparation and work.

The Meeting A day and a half passed before Joshua even touched his computer again. Instead, he packed up most of the equipment he had, preparing it for storage in his storage facility downstairs. Cables were coiled, hardware wrapped and stuffed tightly into boxes, and his all-important folders backed up onto a portable disk and mailed to one of his closest friends. The package was non-descript, though it came with a short hand-written letter stating to store it in a safe place until Joshua came to collect it. He hadn't bothered to call his friend ahead of time as he felt it best to stay off of the net for some reason. Whosever system he had hacked into, they wouldn't be happy and would be looking for anything on the remaining computer traces that they couldn't get to in time. As the hours passed, he realized that it was indeed time to make contact with Nightcry once again. It would be a quick and painless procedure. He would hand off the master copy of the folder and in return be paid the other four million of his five. Smiling to himself, he thought that maybe he could purchase a new car with that money. Or perhaps, he could travel the world as he had always wanted to. Loggin into the secure areas at the same location as before he waited for the signal that would tell him the contact was logged in. A few minutes passed before Nightcry entered the room.Nightcry: I take it you were sucessful? Spriggin: It wasn't exactly an easy process, though it did seem to go both smoother and faster that I had anticipated. This folder with the information contained within for the other four million dollars. That was the deal, correct? Nightcry: You just get down to business, don't you? Nightcry: Yes, that was the deal. The money will be transferred electronically to the account that you had specified last time. Spriggin: Fair enough, Here is your half. Joshua types up a bit of codeing that downloaded the folders onto her computer from a scrambled location.Nightcry: Anxious to hand it off, are you? Did you even bother to take a look inside the folder? Spriggin: I was tempted, but whatever is in there is obviously worth more than ten million dollars. Nightcry: Ten million? Spriggin: Well, I would highly doubt you would give me more than fifty percent of your earnings on this. My guess is that it is actually worth somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty to thirty million. Though, that is just a guess. Nightcry: You are very good, you know that? Spriggin: Not to sound conceited, but yes, I am. If you will excuse me, I would like to logout. It has been a pleasure, Nightcry. If you have another computer job that you would need assistance with, look me up. Nightcry: Before you go... Nightcry: I'm sorry. Spriggin: Sorry? Joshua was confused. Suddenly there was a loud pounding on his front door to clear up his confusion. Eyes wide, he disconnected from the net immediately, pulling out cords as he went. Tearing off his headset, he went to the front door and looked through the eyehole. Standing on the other side of the door was half a dozen men police with a gentleman in a nicely pressed black suit. "Joshua Mc Kinley," an officer shouted. "This is the police, open your door immediately!" Bolting from the door, he went to his microwave and opened it up as he ran past. Grabbing every portable drive and disk that he could carry, he through them in and turned it on to some random number in minutes, sparks starting to arc off of them as soon as it started up. Fingers flying to his keyboard, he hit a few keys simultaneously causing a large 'Purging System' message in red letters to flash on the screen. His computer erasing itself, he grabbed his laptop and wallet, throwing them in a backpack just as there was more pounding on his door. Splinters flew as the door was broken apart, police pouring through it into his apartment. Running for his balcony door, he grabbed the railing and flung himself over. Sailing in the air, he fell from the second floor to the grass below, the sound of angry officers shouting and radioing for support. Joshua ran across the lawn to the street, his legs on fire from fall and the sudden sprint. Down the sidewalk he ran with the sound of heavy footsteps all but far behind him. The stretch of street was long and he was in no physical shape to be running this. Despite his narrow body type, he was not used to doing nearly any kind of physical exercise. Lungs burning, he ran like there was no tomorrow... and then he ran some more. He turned down another street and from there into an alley. Hoping a fence, he sprinted to turn the corner onto the next street, praying that he would somehow lose his pursuers. Adrenaline coursing through his veins, his body gave more energy than Joshua thought he had within him. He was amazed by the speed and distance he was running. Or, at least he would have if a police car not come from the street and hit him. His body was thrown with the impact and his vision blacked out as it came in contact with the pavement.

Axiss is someone he met during his wandering and then suddenly got him as a room mate. Axiss is similar to Sprig in that he is very feminine and is often mistaken for a girl. This, however, is about where similarities end as they come from completely different worlds. Sprig likes the pale boy though and has taken an almost 'older brotherly' role for now. Pitty he's rooting for the home side... and is lacking in the boobage department, he's kinda cute for a boy *chuckles* Spriggin met Beth by walking right through her. It was hard at first but he thinks she is cool, comming from the same country and all. It seems like they might have lived in the same area, just in different centuries. Beth is cool... I mean she has boobs, what is not to like. Unfortunatly I can hardly understand her though >_> Icarus was the first of the other's he met when he finally came out of his room. The flighty boy was the first one he met who didn't know what a computer was and when he realized he might not be in kansas anymore. He didn't chat with him too much but wouldn't mind hanging out again. I still think he needs to re-think the flying thing and stick to planes...

Fingers flew over the keyboard as he battled the deamons and monsters that came at him on the screen of the computer. His darkened room was bearly illuminated by the monitor, showing the pale face of the gamer. "Hey come back 'ere!" Spriggin yelled, completely immersed in the fight before wincing slightly at the sound of his voice. Too many things to get used too now... he prefered to stay in his games, it was easier that way.
But hiding was not the answer and a window popped up, obscuring his vision of the fight and prompting his untimely death. "Awww nuts... Stupid AIM..." The girl grumbled and stabbed at the keys with a finger, opening the message.Message You have not shown up for any of your classes. Please remember that for continuation of enrollment you must attend as many classes as you are able. We require that you show up immediatly. -The Staff A few more grumbles came from the gamer before he pushed his chair back and stood up. Typing a few sequenses on the keys he closed down the game and set up an encryption program that would protect the harddrive while he was away, old habits died hard. Spriggin grabbed his laptop, his PDA and a portable game of tetris which he immediatly started up and tried to beat his high score. Striding through the door, he blinked and turned to see the door still innocetly closed behind him. Something else he needed to remember to get used to, Sprigg shook his head before heading down the corriadors.
