Is there anything in particular that you would like to discuss?

well, church is always interesting. but today I learned that it's a good idea to keep people with the same moral standards around you, and picked throught Moses ch 1, and also how to draw closer to Jesus.
I was thinking about discussing recognizing the spirit today.

We did the first chapter of Moses too. I wish we could just skip right to Isaiah after we finish the Pearl of Great Price--the history portion of the Old Testament is monotonously sordid. The prophets are where you find the really good stuff.
Anyway, sounds good. I often have trouble with that myself.

I'm here! That's what our lesson was on today too! We were in Moses and talking about the characteristics of the Savior.

yeah, I have a problem reading the old testament in general, that's why i'm going to push through it this year and read the whole thing.
so anyways, we'll start with personal revelation. so why do we need to receive personal revelation.

Personal revelation is important because it's the way our Heavenly Father talks to us, and it's important to listen to Him because He knows what's best for you and loves you so much that He wants to help you in your life.

Because it's the only way we can get anything done. Without it, we're up the creek without a paddle, so to speak. We can only get so far using the revelations of others alone, and of course such things are not going to be much help in our day-to-day situations when we need immediate assistance with very specific things.

Yes. in the Bible dictionary it says "Divine revelation is one of the grandest concepts and principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for without it, man could not know of the things of God and could not be saved with any degree of salvation in the eternities. Continuous revelation from God to his saints, through the Holy Ghost … makes possible daily guidance along true paths and leads the faithful soul to complete and eternal salvation in the celestial kingdom."
We know in our church that revelation still comes today, and the only person that can recieve revelation for the whole church is the prophet. While in other churchs the people think that revelation has stoped completely. Why is it important to know that revelation continues today?

Because we'd be stuck in the void without it. Our mortal minds are so totally incompetent that we'd never be able to carry out God's work without His help.

It's important to know today because... well, it helps us know that God hasn't forgotten His children. He's still in our lives and wanting to help guide us along the straight and narrow path. He still cares, so life hasn't become a "do whatever you want because nothing matters anymore" type of thing. I guess it helps keep us in line, knowing that He's so aware of our every thought and every action.
