So eversince I got my PS3 and my HDMI cable my PS3's been making popping noises, or crackling noises, and most of the games I have played on it froze at one point in time, I could play for hours and it will freeze, or merely minutes and it will freeze. There is definitely a problem with it, and I am confused because I don't mind playing these games if they are going to freeze, I just reset it... the only problem is it could be laser burn, my PS3 could totally be chargin' its laser and burnin' all my games to the point once I get a new one they are unplayable. I sometimes think the crackling sound is the disc inside the PS3 hitting the sides or something. Have checked forums, no one has had my problem.
I also have a warranty on my PS3. I have had it since September and the warranty is for one year. I am still unsure of whether it will be shipped or not, and I am still unsure of whether I'll be able to transfer all of my saved Data over to a new one. I have a lot of saved Data I don't want lost, I'd love to talk to someone about it, but I can't find troubleshooting' anywhere on the site... also, what do you use as a memory card? Just a Flash Drive?..
If you're experienced in just how it works I'd like to know the answer to any of the questions above. I would like to get it solved by the time I get God of War 3 in March, or Assassin's Creed 2. I really would just go to gamestop but they are seriously retarded about everything, and super rude to their customers. I don't know if the warranty is even going to fall through, and they could blame it on me for carelessness when I was always extra careful with it, than my Warranty would just be useless.
Thanks!

If you are concerned for the wellbeing of your system and your games, I would suggest putting that warrantee to use. The warrantee should cover any malfunctions within the console itself, not just lack of operations. Even if it does, you've said that it does occasionally block innitially operating, so that's beyond well enough to send it back. I would send mine back if I was afraid that it was hurting itself or my discs.

I'll need to ask them if they will transfer my data or I need a flash drive through the phone or what not first. I gotta get it all on there for the new PS3. I've been afraid to game for a while thinking the discs would get messed. I checked them, it seems there are no scratches at all, so it must just be the PS3.

I don't have a PS3, but do any settings need changed, and do all the problems go away when you switch back to your old cable? If it goes away with the old cable the problem might be a uncompatible or faulty HDMI cable. =/

I'll check into it, thank you Toon. Some people have been saying it's natural to get the popping noises, just not the glitches or the freezing.

Problem solved, used my warranty got a brand new one. Turns out I was able to use an old flash drive my mom sent when she sent pics over from Florida a long time ago, so I was able to use it to transfer all ze data. Absolutely no popping noises and things are running much smoother. Currently working on Assassin's Creed 2, but I have spent many a time over a buds house, so I haven't gotten to play lately.
Anywho-who. Looking forward. smile
