Ok, i'm having touble finding the sound files for TF2. I know where the game's folder is, but i don't have any of the actual MP3 WAV files there, all i have are the custom ones from different servers. PLEASE HELP. (I'm looking for sound files such as The Spy's Taunts, The Heavy's pain noises etc.)

That actually sounds like a real pickle. You might have to re-install the game.

I'd save myself the time and trouble and simply reinstall the game. Is that an option for you?

Actually, mine is the same way. Which is weird. The folders seem empty but they have hidden files in them. Try right clicking the folder, going to properties and selecting show hidden files. Even if that doesn't work, if you're trying to replace the sounds with custom ones, just place the sound file in the folder with the name of the sound you want to replace (I've done this), it should still work.

Ya that's the thing, i wanna maybe mod them. But i tried your thing with the properties, and i don't have an option to show hidden files...

I'm pretty sure you won't lose your achievments. I mean, i've uninstalled and re-installed leftfor dead more times than I care to remember and I still have all of my achievments.

Your items and achievements stay with your account. They mean nothing if you uninstall or whatever.
The sound files can not be accessed without a certain program that I forgot the name of. So uninstalling the game will be pointless. Might as just Google the question you have.

You need to install GCFScape to open the Game Cache files. You can get that here: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26 Then go to Program FilesSteamsteamapps and find the TF2 content file; open it up and have a rumage around.
