well I'm looking to get into photography and my subjects non other than my doggies. Well I have yet to get my camera as I have to save up 600 bucks for it. And the camera of my choice is the Nikon D3000. Anyway this is what I have taken so far of my dogs and these are from yesterday. I was using my sisters camera, but it a small digital one that's not the best for professional photos. Anyway what do you think. They have not been manipulated in any way. 1.)  2.)  3.)  4.)  5.)  so yeah which picture do you like better and why?

I like one better,Abbys color is good against the background,and you can see her face,the rest are mostly of the backs of dogs,and the one with bo,theres half a person in it,it kind of takes away from the focus on bo.

the first and second are my favorites, but yeah I'm trying to get some good action shots of them, but I don't have the right camera for that, but yeah I love them all just the ones of Abb's I like the most, but thanks for your input

I liked the 1st, beacause I could see the amazing adorable face. :3 The 3rd because I could see the doggie's side. You have really beautiful pets.
You should try getting their face up close or their entire bodies.

I like the first one best. the lighting, the composition, the focus, are all better in the first shot.
Nikkon make nice cameras, and the D3000 sounds like a good choice for what you want to do, although I've never used the camera. One thing I really liked when I read the specs was the fast shutter response. I envy you there, I have an older model DSLR and the lag is really annoying. If you have been using a little point-and shoot model, you will see a huge difference in picture quality with a DSLR. Don't be afraid to play with your settings. I get great shots of my little herps with the macro setting, even though I don't have a macro lens.Have fun!

I love the first one! Labs and water just go so well together and in that one you can see Abby's pretty face.

I liked the first and fourth one. Nikkon makes really great cameras. The third one needs to more focused in on Bo.

Thanks for the opinions. Tomorrow we'll be going back to the lake and I'll see if I can get some better pictures of the puppers by the water and even some of Abby swimming to post.

As a general rule, make sure your subject(s) face(s) are clearly visible. If the eyes are focused, make sure that they're focused on the same thing. Avoid things that do not fit the theme.

Damn, well the lake that were going to (there's 3 different one's) well it's not the best place for someone like me who has a bad knee and semi on crutches semi not on them(very unleveled ground). There are ducks/geese and Abby will not sit sill around those. So don't expect great pictures. This is a smaller man made lake surrounded by houses so it sucks, but it will have to work. So again don't expect amazing shots especially since I'm still using the crappy small digital camera

I reallly quite like the 1st and 2nd onee... The first one would be labelled.. - a dogs life... razz and the secondd is justtt good! Ahahah
