Feuds that are overdone are usually the cause of bookers having a lack of imagination. They also tend to deal with the concept that successful pairings offer examples of how things should be. It's easy to book, no one complains of any noob coming in and ruining things, and it's a cheap thrill. And once people see that success, they try to copy it and add spins to it to make it seem fresh. They also tend to not want to piss the player off by booking them lower in card with noobs or force them into matches that may not fit their preferences. These guys tend to be politicians and the players in question tend to be egomaniacs.
If its a feud I can see that but if its just a straight up random parring to fill in a space then don't do it.
