Chobi:
Junichi had been out on the hunt, alone. The rather tall jackal had not yet managed to catch a single thing. The rabbits seemed to be on to his ways. Ah well, on to scavenging then. It was the next best thing.
One thing that sucked about being a smaller species was that you were further down the line of the food chain. Sure you could hunt and scavenge but their were plenty bigger creatures you competed against.
Nothing was certain out in the great plains. Some times you got and some times things took. Most of the time in Juni's case it seemed to be things took from him. There was no question about it that Juni was a guy with little luck.
nessiaing:
Kona could feel it she was getting closer to her companion, her little bones could feel it in them. Even though she was so close she needed to stop and eat, without some food she would never make it to the side of her lost Hetal. Sniffing around she caught the sent of newly dead flesh, and was content enough to scavange, she was a small creature, and usually she could find better meals by scavanging then she could hunting for herself.
She made it to the body of what looked like a dead waterbuck and tucked in hungry from the large amount of walking she had been doing. Not really paying attention to what was going on around her but instead digging in for a well deserved meal.
Chobi:
The scent of blood drew Juni to the dead waterbuck. It looked fresh, but Juni would eat it even if it was rotting. The jackal took a few paw steps out of the bushes only to stop. Another preditor seemed to be hard at work on the carcass.
But Juni wasn't about to leave, the body was huge and there was no way that the serval was going to eat all of its remains. So he paced back and forth waiting and thinking . Technically he could try to eat from it too and see what the serval would do.
nessiaing:
The movement caught Kona's eyes, she lifted her head to see a jackle of the most brilliant blue color standing not far from where she was enjoying her meal. She swallowed and cleared her throught, "Please by all means come eat. Its not like I killed this all on my own I have no claim to it, and its not like I could eat everything here, waste not want not."
She had a welcoming smile on her face while she waited for the Jackle to come and eat with her. She studied him and the way he moved, feeling that you could tell a lot about someone just by watching them.
Chobi:
Juni was licking at a tough area of meat. The juices swelled where he licked. The kill had been very fresh. It made him wonder what had killed this and if it would be back to claim its prize again soon. He hoped not. A serval and a jackal weren't really on top of the food chain.
But then the females voice drew him out of his head.
"Kona? " He repeated. Blood was all over his maw. He hadn't thought to clean it off. "Junichi.. you can call me Juni if you want though.." He went back to licking his area of flesh.
"Your very kind"
nessiaing:
Kona smiled laughing at Juni, he was such a boy diggging in deep and enjoying his meal. "I try to be kind when i can, it can be hard out in this world though." she said looking all around her gestering towards the great emptiness around them. It was a scary world for a small animal such as themselves. She tried to shake the fright from herslef, soon she would have a home that she had been searching for for so long.
"Is your home far from here?" she asked the jackal, she was a creature who was very interested in ones home, after spening a great deal of time trying to find her own.
Chobi:
The jackal was content chopping at the flesh. The question of home caught his ears.
"Home," He hummed. "I m a free man, I don't have a pack or a home right now. I had a family but not anymore.." Not after lions had attacked. It was an unpleasant memory but to Juni, it was what it was.
nessiaing:
Kona smiled everyone had different thoughts towards home, home meant different things to each and everyone it would seem. "I miss my home, my friends, I do hope that I find it again soon." To Kona home was where ever her friend was her Hetal.
She wondered if she should ask Jani about his family it was hard to say, really some animals liked to talk and others didn't, she decided to take a risk. "What happened to your family?" she asked very quietly.
Chobi:
Juni frowned some, "Their dead," He took one last bite, "Its a grim topic for another time perhaps." Eating was a happy time not a sad time. HE didnt want to talk about it.
"I'm alive and thats all the matters ." He gave her a smile. He wasnt upset. Just wasnt willing to talk about it right now.[/blue]
nessiaing:
Kona took the cues just find, knowing that she shouldn't ask for anymore details. "I am sorry to have brought up a bad topic, I am just very curious about homes and family." she smiled.
"I hope to find my home soon." recently Kona had a need for her home to be found sooner rather then later for more selfish reasons now, but she wasn't ready to admit that to anyone just yet.
Kona rose to her feet reading herself to leave she had gotten her fill of food and she really should move on soon. She looked back towards Jani.
Chobi:
The jackal licked his chops.
"I hope you find your home to Kona." He gave her a smile, "Hope we both find our places in the world some time... and don't worry."
The jackal gave Kona a lick on the check, "thanks for the scavenge but I need to be going now," With that the jackal disapeared into the brush. He really needed to be on his way.
nessiaing:
"Goodbye" Kona called after Jani. She had a feeling that he didn't hear her but it was ok, it wasn't all that importnant. She moved in the oposite direction that Jani had left in, she was going to find her home soon, for herself, her Hetal and her unborn kittens she could feel stirring in her, she hadn't told anyone yet but she couldn't deny the truth to herself any longer, she had to find Hetal and soon!
