Hero heaved a deep sigh as he looked out over the river, he'd managed to sneak away for a little while - not away from the rest of his newly found pack, just one in particular. One he was ashamed to say he wished had never been refound to begin with. That was a rather nasty thought however and Hero mentally scolded himself for having it. Winner might be a self-righteous pain in the butt..but he was still part of the pack and pack was family.

With this thought in mind Hero dipped his muzzle down to take a drink of the river's clear waters, his heavy ruff fluffing out as he raised his head and gave a bit of a shake - his hair was always flying about in some weird mismatched way - hero wished not for the first time that he had a nice smooth, sleek coat like so many others did.

He had lost his pipes to the old war. His pipes were his soul, but the optimist Fairy Harp was would not allow the green wolf to hang his head in defeat. He would get another set one day, but he needed someone strong and smart to help him. Humans were difficult to find, much less steal from. Noticing that it had grown way too quiet, Fairy Harp shook those thoughts from his mind.

"All you need is....Hero?" he began to sing as the large wolf grabbed his attention from his budding song. A cheshire grin snaked its way across Fairy Harp's maw. He slunk low to the ground, his bright spring-toned fur blending not too badly with the shabby grass. He reared up on his hind paws to stare at Hero's reflection.

"Hello!" he yipped loudly hoping to cause Hero to jump.

Hero was lost deeply in his on thoughts, so much so that he failed to notice Fairy Harps arrival and reflection behind his own until the green wolf let out a high pitched Hello! from behind him. Hero nearly jumped out of his skin and wheeled about to see who had crept up on him, in the process of doing so the big wolf slipped on a wet and mossy rock and sank one of his hind legs nearly to the hip in ice cold water before he manged to regain his balance and yank it out shaking it wildly to get the water off.

"Holy deer dung that cold!" He yelled before giving Fairy Harp a look, he thought briefly about yelling at the green wolf about sneaking up on others - but it wouldn't do any good and Hero was far to good tempered to put any real force behind it anyways. He sighed and took a few steps away from the water before Fairy decided to do something else to get him doused in freezing cold water. "Hello Fairy" he responded in a droll tone.

As the large wolf slipped into the cold water, Fairy Harp let out a sharp yip before retreating back a few feet. If Hero was angry the little green wolf did not want to find those strong jaws around him. He did not know how much the calm, gentle giant had changed since the pack's break.

But instead of shouting or fangs, Harp got a greeting. His blue eyes reopened and he shook off the nasty fright that had washed over him. His trademark winner's smile took over his features. His tail gae a shallow wag.

"As I said before, hey there Hero!" Fairy Harp sang in a high voice, "How are yooooou?" His tongue hung limply out the side of his muzzle as he took a refreshing roll in the grass to shake his jitters.

Hero cringed inwardly as the skittish Fairy leapt back and waited with his eyes cosed for what exactly? Hero to bite him? The big male had to scoff slightly at that notion, even if Fairy was a tad bit annoying Hero wouldn't dream of physically hurting the little wolf - but they had been separated for quite some time Hero reminded himself and the way they'd all been separated could change a wolf he imagined. It hadn't exactly been peaceful, and unlike that brute Winner, Hero did actually care what others thought of him and so he tried to make up for frightening Fairy with a slight sweep of his tail. see? still same old friendly Hero, nothing to be worried about here.

Although it looked like Fairy had reached this conclusion on his own - because he was now rolling about on the ground with his tongue hanging out - typical Fairy and Hero squelched the urge to roll his deep blue eyes at the little beast. "I'm...fine I suppose, glad to be back amidst family" Even if Winner had reappeared too...was his unspoken mental add to that statement. "I heard your lost your flutes..thats to bad"

Fairy Harp halted mid-roll. He flipped back onto his paws and stared blankly at the larger wolf. His tail slipped between his legs and his ears folded back. The light in his eyes was hurt, and the pain in his heart was full of bitter emptiness. He sat back on hi haunches with a low whine.

"Did Ultima tell you? Or Spellbinder?" he muttered, he had annoyed both with his excessive music-making. His pan-pipes were a part of him, a part that seemed to have been lost forever. A music-marker is not whole without his instrument after all.

"I did loose them...to the huge fight...I'm pretty sure they are broken...But nobody liked them anyways," he whimpered. He was shaking now, holding in a raging, sorrow-filled cry. Even if nobody else did, he missed his partner in crime.

Hero sighed slightly as Fairy seemed so painfully hurt at the reminder of his lost pipes. He'd meant it as more of a conversation starter then something to hurt Fairy. Sure the green wolf could be annoying at times and his music might have made him want to drown himself a time or two - but he was still family, and you didn't purposefully hurt your family. He'd just forgotten how important Fairy's strange little instrument had been to him. How would he feel if he lost his medallion? Quite badly he imagined and the thought brought with is a surge of empathy for the now shaking little wolf. Damn...Hero thought as he watched poor Fair with an awkward look on his face. Hero was pretty good in a crisis - for the most part - but puppies and sad, grieving wolves were beyond his repertoire of comfortable situations to deal with.

But he couldn't just let the poor beast sit there and shake pitifully now could he? Of course not. Walking closer to the sad looking wolf Hero reached out and poked him with his muzzle "Hey now! Don't look at it that way, we'll find them again and if we can't well..we will just have to get you new ones somewhere" Hero tried to reassure the green wolf.
