So, after brainstorming with TWT, she and I developed a basic backstory, and I would like to run it by you guys.
Essentially, this came about due to the lack of backstory, and we also needed a way for Vizard to exist, as Urahara and Aizen do not exist in this world, so the Hougyouku will have never been formed.
As it came about, we decided that it could work to have a Hollow, vasto-lorde class, who can spew other hollow out of his mouth, come to earth and be attacked by a younger, ambitious Asuma. During the fight, Asuma damages the hollows mask, but doesn't kill him.
In a fit of pain, the hollow tears off his mask, and becomes an arrancar.
As he changes, his true power awakens, and he is destroyed in a massive explosion, which releases an airborne agent.
This agent (as in "Turn Back the Pendulum") causes hollowfication if it comes into contact with a shinigami.
Disturbed by the release of reiatsu, The Sereitei sends out Higure to examine the disturbance, along with the old Sou-Taichou. When they arrive, they find Asuma, half-hollowfied, who attacks them blindly.
In Asuma's rage, he kills the old Sou-Taichou, leaving only Higure, who releases his zanpakuto and subdues Asuma. The agent then attacks Higure, and he loses control of his zanpakuto.
Using his reiatsu control, and a device he had invented to store reiatsu, Higure compresses the agent and seals it within a gray orb, which then radiates with intense reiatsu, and almost an intelligent presence.
In the mayhem, Higure blacks out due to the loss of all of his Reiatsu, and Asuma, realizing what the orb could do, steals it, runs about happily, accidentally opens a garganta, and is pulled into Hueco Mundo.
Fastforward fifty years..
Higure is now the Sou-taichou of the Gotei thirteen, and Asuma has not been heard from since the incident.
Unbeknown to any but those involved in the incident, Higure has a dormant Hollow self, which was sealed when he compressed the agent into the orb.
Asuma is creating a solid hold in Hueco Mundo, and is now the head of the Arrancar Castle, Las Noches. (Some of the Arrancar existed prior to Asuma's arrival, and assisted him in his transition to Vizard. After which, they died. Asuma can decide how).
During a summary hollow extermination, Higure followed a large beast into Hueco Mundo where he saw Asuma, they fought, Higure subdued him again, and was about to deal the final blow, when his hollow self reared up, and threw him back to earth via an open Garganta.
Disturbed by the event, Higure is now spending most of his time trying to understand his inner hollow, and grasp hold of how to control it.

No.
If Higure becomes a Vizard, he will likely leave Soul Society.
There is also a chance that I may have him push that part of him out, and then kill it. We'll see.

Alright then. Good.
I really dislike the idea of Vizards and Soul Society being together. I know it's plausible, but I find it highly unlikely. Shinigami absolutely hate Hollows. Their whole existence is to guide souls, and protect them from Hollows.
Looks good though.

Hm...after the Vizard training is done, you could put that during the training, Asuma went berserk before he had full control over his hollow and he killed them. Lol. Likw How Ichigo fought the Vizards when he was trying to subdue his own.

I don't mind so far the hollow aspect as it will bring a nice dimension based on what people mentioned. As commander Higure's ideal are against hollow's completely and does everything in his power to subdue them but this inner presence keeps trying to fight outwards. It brings a nice conflict with the character.
I do think we need ot expand somewhat as since we assume Asuma cannot truly return to Sereitei since he will either be noticed or just can't he has individuals aiding him. He would typically require intel to create a plot to avenge what happened to him. i'd propose having a couple of higher ups within the gotei 13 working as spies for him. They provide key information on the gotei internal functioning which will eventually lead to some major war. The spy individuals could meet some Asuma or his underlings in the human world to create the least suspicion.
A possibility that could come from this to engage other races such as quincy's or Vizards is that some of them notice this and potentially inform the sereitei or keep an eye out on what they hear.
Anyways this is just an extention to enable further events for as many individuals as possible but what you've already provided is great.

@Asuma: I don't fully grasp what you are trying to say...
@Auri: Asuma will not be the one returning to the sereitei, he will have been an ambitious individual, who grasped power and decided to try and take over Soul Society. I don't really want to deal with spies right now though, to cliche... But he would not be trying to avenge what happened to him, if I'm grasping his character right, he just wants more power. (Unless Asuma wishes to go a different way)

yes I was looking at it at a revenge standpoint but agree it has been done. I just think it needs more depth and puzzle pieces in the asuma vs Hisuga solely. I guess i like stuff quite complex and therefore looking to extend upon what you have posted.

Well that's just it, it wouldn't be Higure vs Asuma. It would be more Asuma and his arrancar against everyone. Kinda like the anime, but with more epic battles.

Ya I guess potentially looking for a position in story of my character. I brought spy up as my guy would typically go to human world where he could contact Asuma or his guys to provide intel but I know its something that has happened in the manga already despite not being of similar fashion.
I will let others have their say anyways on your concept which I do support in its entirety.

Well, if you end up wanting to do something like that with your character, that's fine.
Plot = a summation of all characters, events, and proceedings, following a story-line fashion. (So in essence, the plot is created by everyone).
Backstory = History, how it all started.
So in summary, what you are suggesting are plot twists, which are fine, but this is for the guild "history" so to speak. I doubt you wish for your character to be a turncoat from the very beginning.

Like...Familial history, history of events within the Soul Society, and not just outside it?

This is just a basic starting point, we still need to include the basic history of everything happening in and around Soul Society and Earth.

What I meant by what I said was, well, if you saw the episodes where Ichigo was training to subdue his hollow and the ep. where he was out and the other vizard had to watch his body. He fought the other Viz. while he was fighting his inner hollow inside himself, so the same concept could be worked out for Asuma.
Buuuut, in terms of how Asuma is right now, he's not so much looking for power, since he has it already. He's just going more towards revenge. Since he was just living peacefully in Las Noches when Higure came and tried to kill him, he resolved to get rid of those who were trying to get rid of him. :3
But Asuma could come to Seireitei once and just cause a little mayhem and then wait on the Sokyoku for the captains to arrive to give them a message, like how Aizen did. biggrin
