It's simple - you are the infamous dark rider Aslodus Ke'irn. Your mission is to retake the staff of the Lunar princess Lessariana from the evil lord Kreshtar. You must pass through many great dangers, and fight many foes to achieve your goal. The reward is unimaginable, and the thrill of a good fight is even better.

Aslodus is a tall man, sporting a scar on the right side of his chin. Since he is a rider of the night, he is extremely pale. His silver hair sparkles in the moonlight, making him seem like a head floating in the darkness, as his body is clad in the deepest velvetine black. His nightmare, Herosh, is as silent as a whispering wind, with piercing yellow eyes that leaves the most courageous man trembling in his boots. Aslodus' weapon is the double-handed sword of Darkness, forged by the hands of the god of night himself, and bestowed upon him as a gift. Though his eyes are always shaded, they are of the color of the richest blood, thick and foreboding.

~RULES~
1. No god-moding. Yes, Aslodus seems like a god-like figure, but he's not. He had a scar on his chin, after all - he can be hurt.
2. Pay attention to other people's posts! We are all playing Aslodus, therefore whoever posts must pay attention to what the previous person wrote. He can't be fighting a three-headed dragon one minute, then saving a damsel in distress the next. It all most flow together!
3. Don't argue with people about his personality. I don't know Aslodus enough about him. The point of this rp game is actually to improve your roleplaying skills. Maybe Aslodus likes to collect flowers when he's not working. Maybe he's a great dancer. Maybe he's not even a he, but a transgendered hottie that likes to braid his nightmare's mane. But, please, if someone says he likes to play crochet, keep it consistent.
4. Have fun! Learning should be a fun experience.
5. I beg of you! Please write in the past-tense form. This means, don't write: I slay the dragon and ride off on my horse. The story isn't happening now. It is the legend of Aslodus Ke'irn.
6. All other guild and ToS rules apply!
7. You don't have to reply every day. The point of this is to have something to post while you're waiting on other roleplays, or to boost up your roleplaying ability. Perhaps you make one post, then don't show your face around here for a month. That's all right! Since we are all Aslodus, no one is waiting on anyone else.

Let the adventure begin!!!

It was three weeks ago since the Lunar princess Lessariana sent him on this quest. It was simple enough, by his perspective, though he would have rather preferred something a bit closer. Lord Kreshtar's kingdom was a good few months away from the Lunar Citadel. It would be a long while before he laid eyes on the handsome reward he would receive from the princess.

Herosh was at a steady canter, his yellow eyes glowing with blood-lust for a good fight. Aslodus loved his nightmare for that; he would always rush into a battle, even when the infamous dark rider was still skeptical about it. But, in the end, Herosh always seemed to know what was best for his human partner. After all, the nightmare certainly knew the dark rider needed a rest even before Aslodus himself knew it.

Aslodus slid himself off the saddle, running his leather-gloved hands over the velvetine neck of his transport, before settling himself down at the base of a large willow tree. A nap would be a very good thing. He and Herosh had been riding north for three days straight. Though Herosh was an undead steed, Aslodus needed his rest.

Just as he was fixing his wide-rimmed hat over his eyes, he heard the distinct snapping of a twig somewhere to his left...

Aslodus' head turned slightly as he heard the noise comming fomr his left. He gave a glance up at Herosh, who gave his head an irritated bob. Silently Aslodus put his finger to his lips, and let one of his hands follow down to the sheathed sword, as he made his way slowly up ready for an unpleasant attack. His eyes never leaving that of the woods to his left. On his way up he stopped at a slight crouching possition.

He slowly made his own way to the left, narrowing his dark eyes as he followed into the darkness. As he approached he heard the sound of the owner to the noise sprint off. He was in for the hunt, Herosh was ready and willing as well. The nightmare was right at his side as Aslodus hopped onto the ready companion, and they bounded off after the sound of the twigs crunching.

He followed them swiftly seeming to get closer, and closer. But soon the crunching stopped, and all that was heard was the slowing of Herosh's slight breaths as he slowed. They stood for a moment listening to the darkness. Ready for the attacker.

Aslodus was, for lack of a better word, unprepared for what appeared before him. At first glance, he thought it was some sort of mutated dwarf. A closer glance told him that it wasn't anything man-like at all. It was a tree stump, with bizarre green-gold eyes that stared at him unblinkingly. It was about the size of a five-year-old, with no mouth to speak of. A tree stump, with two stubby branch limbs for arms, and a whole lot of snake-like roots crawling about all over the place. It almost looked like snails trying to pull a carriage across a march.

You are the dark rider. A voice in his head, thick and...woody. He was all too aware that it was the tree stump talking in his head.

Indeed. He knew it wasn't a question, but he thought he should answer anyway.

You are seeking out the staff of the Lunar princess. Many wish to claim it for themselves. The stump's unnatural eyes narrowed with an audible creaking of bark.

I know of the risks. Why do you warn me so, if you know who I am?

Because you have not yet realized the danger that has been following you for the past week. It rides on your scent like a blood-hound.

And you know of it? he replied, a bit more tartly then he meant it to be. Forgive me, but I cannot see how one so...immobilized by its structure could see such things.

My brethren have eyes as well, and have relayed the message to me. I am the messenger of the trees, and am only doing my duty. The princess must have her staff before the year is up.

After a moment of deep thought, Aslodus asked, Why?

"BECAUSE THE POWER OF THE ECLIPSE WILL RENDER THE STAFF UNUSABLE TO THE PRINCESS, IF NOT IN HER HANDS BEFORE THAT TIME," boomed the stump, from an opening in the trunk that had suddenly appeared. Most men would have stumbled back in fear, but Aslodus, being accumstomed to strange things, merely stared at the creature, nodding his head. So...his task was more difficult than he'd thought.

((Pooey...I thought this would be more popular...))

Aslodus glanced thoughtfully at Herosh.
"Looks like we're going to have to speed up our travel." He said it casually enough, but but the intelligent steed recognized it as a challenged and tossed his head, seemingly insulted that Aslodus questioned whether or not he could make it fast enough. Aslodus' voice rose as he went to address the stump creature.
"And have you any other coun-" He stopped short. The creature was gone. It had moved with absolute silence, for Aslodus would have noted its leaving if it had used anything but.
