He hadn't been back since the night he had sneaked into her room with the intent to kill her. Even after all this time, it still guilted him to no end that he had even contemplated it. He leaned his head against the tree outside her room and traced his finger over the damage his first visit had done to the bark. Memories began to resurface of her arms around his and her sprawled atop him. She was too innocent to realize how provocative she had been but it had not gone unnoticed with him. The scene often replayed itself when he slept and for the first time, they were dreams he welcomed.
Of course, there were certain problems that now played a part. She had seen him transform. He had done so right before her very eyes. He was sure she had noticed the ears and tail as well, even in the cover of night. The moon was a damnable thing. If so, she didn't respond to it. Was there a chance she would not respond to his transformation into a cat as well? Then of course, there was the cat itself. Would she recognize it as the one that had been following her? Practically stalking her?
There was only one way to find out. Picking up a handful of small pebbles, he began tossing them at her window. Tap. Tap. Tap.

A small light turned on , some bedside lamp perhaps, and the curtains twitched letting more light out before they were slid wide and the window opened, She leaned out like Juliet, beaming and kneeling by the window. "You're not having tree trouble again are you?" she said just loud enough to cary, not loud enough she hoped, to wake her family.
"I was afraid that... " She trailed off and shook her head smiling. "Hi..." She said the smile reaching the corners of her voice to lift them with the odd joy, the warmth she felt seeing him.
"I'm glad you came back... Hold on, let me get some shoes and a coat..."

"No need," he called. With the grace befitting his race, he took a run and leaped high into the air, catching himself on the window sill and pulling himself in. Had he startled her? He hadn't meant to. Of course, now he regretted the actions as grabbing a coat would have hid the shape of her body better.
He sat on the window sill with one leg dangling outside and the other with his knee drawn up to his chest, an arm draped on it. He looked outside at the moment for a moment before turning to her and asking, "How have you been, Ume?"
He found it hard to look at her. He was wracked with the guilt of his last visit, one he knew she was not aware of. His intentions had been sinister to say the least. He did not even deserve the right to be here, the right to speak with her. He was a monster. A vile beast that needed to be put down.
Yet here he was and he wanted nothing more to take the girl into his arms, a girl he barely knew but it didn't matter. It felt like he knew her. "I.. you look well," he added. She looked more than well. She was beautiful.
