Every one knows that spike Lee is very open when he sees something not right in the black/ African American community. His latest victim Tyler perry. He compares Tyler Perry's work to that of Amos and Andy at least the character brown and of course Madea was compared to a mammy.

Tyler perry has said nothing or responded to any of spike lee comments.

Spike lee and Tyler perry.

In this blog it brings up how both wonderful the directors are and their faults as well. Though one may have a problem with another both are too amazing to be having a problem with other but should be working together.

Any say?

Yes I have return peeps. Happy New Years to all and wouldn't be me if I didn't get smack into the drama. biggrin

I have to agree with some of the replies on the blog. Spike can get a little big-headed about these things. I mean not all Black films have to be perfect and so uplifting. The jiving is within our culture whatever we like it or not. I don't know why Black folks always have to fight against each other. Perry's plays are wonderful in the fact that they have strong morals and make you laugh all at once. Yes there's some "monkey bussiness" however don't most Black folk joke about? That's what gives these plays heart as well as the movies.

Another similar aspects are BOTH film makers use actors/actresses that otherwise wouldn't be use in mainstream Hollywood films and therefore be under appreciated. They both show parts of the Black culture/ communities that often go unspoken in most other films. They both show that Blacks don't always need to try to be "white" or need money to get by. So what's the problem here?

Granted yes, Meet the Browns/House of Payne are the typical Black sitcoms and thus has a world of problems in their view of Black people. Still tho we know from Spike's film Bamboozle that stuff like that tends to happen when Blacks are on the small tube.

*sigh*

Black men need to stop with dickery is what this is all about. (That's what it's all boiling down too) I'm pretty sure both men are well hung so there's no need to be having no foolish a** d**k war.

Also ten points for the poster on the blog that brought up the fact that Spike do be casting about of light skinned honeys and usually Skinny ones. At least Perry had women like Jill Scott be sexy.

Dem my 60 cents.
