Esen was gaining her senses back, bit by bit. It was the day after the other girl, Alessa, had stopped by, being the first person she saw when she awoke. It would have been nice if her mother was there when she awoke, but maybe things weren't so bad, she thought.
In between then and now, Esen looked under the loose gown customary of an inpatient at Destiny Memorial, and truth be told, her torso was a bit of an ugly sight. Right under her chest was a brown bruise-like line which felt a bit different compared to the rest of her skin, and for some reason, stitches marred the rest of her body in between the large scar and her hips. A similar, but more obvious, line to that on the torso was around her left arm where it met with her upper body at the shoulders.
At least Esen couldn't see the stitches on her back, even though she slumped down onto the inclined hospital bed for the umpteenth time, hoping and wishing-
"Miss Saylor, you have a visitor," spoke a nurse at the other side of her hospital room's door, opening to reveal a woman with neon green hair, staring at Esen with eyes of a royal purple. People might normally mistake this woman for her older sister (she looked adult, yes, but somewhere in her thirties compared to being in the lower fourties), but Esen knew who it was without needing brain jumper cables, eyes widening slightly and a minuscule bit of cheer showing on her face.
"Mother..."
"Essssie!" Rica squealed, practically bounding across the room to grasp a hold of her daughter's hands. "I was so worried, Essie, you have no idea..." "Es-EN, mom, but I'm sure..." After a quick confirmation on the glasses still being her prescription, the nurse let them be, and the older Saylor started to talk to her daughter about how much she was missed, what sort of toll the ordeals had put mother through, and the like.
The two Saylor females were about to move on to the topic of Esen lacking any attendance with the tutors for a year, but before they could, another volunteer was to come with something not-so-welcome.((NPC Ms. Saylor's words are underlined, refer to this for Ms. Saylor's general appearance.))

The previous night, Ji-Yeon had received an unexpected call from her favorite nurse, Trinity Young. Her whole Winter Break had consisted of dealing with Sung-Jun, and making visits to the hospital attempting to cheer up complete strangers. Her first two visits had been to two boys, Ignacio Araya and Remington Montgomery. However, Ji-Yeon had been head-over-heels happy when Trinity told that her next visit would be to a girl of similar age, named Esen Quinn Saylor. She had also mentioned something about green hair; but Trinity was always rambling crazy things. For her first two visits, she had been a bit lazy, and had put in little effort into her gift baskets, simply combining bought items with some ribbon and wrap. However, today was different. Ji-Yeon could be seen in the kitchen of her home dashing here and there in a similar manner to a squirrel gathering nuts. Why was she in such a frenzy, you ask? For Ji-Yeon was baking blue-berry muffins. She seriously wanted to impress this girl and though she did not have any culinary prowess, she did her best to follow the recipe, and excluding a couple burnt edges, the waft was alluring. Ji-Yeon was in her best mood, looking forward to cheer up this girl named Esen. Just as she was cheerfully wrapping the muffins individually with an array of pastel-colored ribbons, a voice came from the back, greeting her lazily. "Morning, Ji-Yeon. What you up to?" She couldn't help emit a groan, Sung-Jun was up already? "Making muffins; and not for you!" Ji-Yeon growled. He wasn't going to get on her nerves today. "Aw, c'mon now, don't be so cold to me. You off to the hospital again? Let me come with you!" Sung-Jun chuckled, attempting a hug at Ji-Yeon, only to be countered by a good ribbing in the elbows. "Get offa me, you...imbecile!" A smirk could be heard in his laughter as he responded, "Please? I'm harmless. I'm going to be here for a while; we might as well spend some quality time together." She gave up, throwing her arms up in the air. "Ugh. Fine! But if you ruin anything, you're dead." Ji-Yeon threatened. Who knew, perhaps he could be of some use cheering up the girl. "And you're driving!" she ordered. "Yes, madame. Let me just go put on my jacket." he feigned a bow. Half an hour later, the two arrived at the hospital, and for once, Trinity was not there to greet her. Luckily for the two of them, Ji-Yeon had memorized the room number of the Esen girl. Up the elevator, two rights, and they were there. Knocking on the door, muffins in hand, Ji-Yeon nervously turned the knob. Inside were two green-headed females, (Trinity hadn't been crazy), who stared at the two in awe. "Hey! I'm Ji-Yeon, and this is my friend, Sung-Jun. We're here to cheer you up! I even brought muffins!" Ji-Yeon eagerly grinned, awaiting the girls surely giddy response. OOC:: Figured since you brought Mama Saylor, I'd bring in another nuisance o 3o. OH AND A...general look at Sung-Jun's appearance.

"-so, what do you think we should do about your going to school? Maybe Crystal Ac-"
Rica stopped speaking once she heard the doorknob turn. Both of the females - the older-looking with slightly shorter hair sat in one of those annoyingly uncomfortable-seeming chairs meant for visitors, the other's hair was mostly obscured under her blanket, and her eyes under glasses - did take notice at the two people who came in. One of them was taller than both of the females within, and had a shoulder-length style similar in color to that of the shorter girl with hair that was bluntly cut to waist-length. The short-but-taller-than-the-patient girl - Ji-Yeon was her name, they learned - had a basket in one hand. And her friend, who had a few inches on Ji-Yeon, was Sung-Jun. Interesting name - though it would make sense, given that both were Asian and it showed.
"Hello, you two - Sung-Jun, and Ji-Yeon? I'm Rica Saylor. Do call me Rica, since we're both 'Miss.' This is my daughter, Esen Saylor..."
No response was given by the girl behind glasses.
"Esen, is something wrong?"
Finally the patient spoke up. "Oh, muffins? What kind?" She did not look enthused at all, though wasn't hostile-seeming just yet, but tried to sound mildly interested in the dark-haired basket girl's response. There seemed to be a slim chance that this girl may have read her medical chart. Then again, the most she had since awakening was water, and Esen had not asked about solid food. The response, Esen thought, was probably not going to be anything logical, not for her, at least. Chocolate-chip, banana-nut, bran, cranberry... None of these were the correct answer to get her to eat it. The correct answer would be 'Without any trace of wheat.'
Rica looked somewhat confused, trying to figure out why her daughter was acting this way toward strangers. Not knowing Esen for a good year, or dealing with the necessary selective eating habits the younger girl took on since that time at thirteen, took a toll on remembering why.

The two were clearly mother and daughter; the same genes were undeniable in their fiery heads of green. The daughter, Esen that was, seemed to be dazed or something, for she did not respond. Instead, her mother, Rica did. "Pleasure to meet you, Miss, I mean, Rica that is." Ji-Yeon softly giggled at the woman's easy-going personality. Then, noticing Sung-Jun was doing nothing but standing, she softly elbowed him in his stomach, feigning an awkward smile. Obviously, the pain brought him down back to Earth. "Ah, sorry about that. What's good, Rica?" Sung-Jun chuckled sarcastically. Oh God. Should she pray or something? He was making a fool out of the both of them already. Heck, he was acting like he'd known the woman forever.
All of a sudden, Esen inquired about the muffins of all things. Taking advantage of a chance to start a conversation, Ji-Yeon pasted on a wide grin, and answered cheerfully, "Blue-berry!" "Home-made too," Sung-Jun added in with a sly grin.

Two grinning faces and five words - two in particular, describing a certain color of a certain fruit - were enough to push her over the edge of acting 'somewhat interested, but not really' to the much more astringent 'cold as space.' Her brow furrowed, eyes narrowed, mouth curling into a scowl. If one were to look closely enough, Esen's left hand was beginning to ball up, although if the right was not connected to IV tubing, it would have balled along with.
"You two have good tastes in ways to really incite people. Maybe you and I should trade bodies. Let's see how you handle it... oh, wait. It's ******** IMPOSSIBLE for either of you to stomach your stomach when you're in my body!" The tone of voice was harsh, but right now, she was able to keep it within the room. Right now.
"Thank y-" Rica was cut off from her words of politeness from what looked - and acted - like a borderline-active Mount St. Esen. The older then realized something, shaking her head, then turning it toward the visitors.
"Erm, you're a hospital volunteer... well, one of you, I would guess? I think I'd check the chart if I were you."

Ji-Yeon's smile turned upside-down as Esen scowled. It was visible in her body motions; she was angry. What was she talking about. Incite? ******** impossible? Why was she suddenly throwing profanity at them? She wasn't going to let her get to her.
"Yes. I'm the hospital volunteer. What chart." she practically spat. "We weren't given anything. If there's a problem; take it with the hospital." It wasn't like her to get this angry so easily, but she had already been in a foul mood due to Sung-Jun. Speaking of, he was simply cackling in the background.
"Apologies if I did something to anger you, Miss Esen." Ji-Yeon continued in a sarcastic tone of mockery. Then in all seriousness, "Listen. I don't, we don't that is," throwing a glare at Sung-Jun once more, instantly shutting him up. Just as she was about to go on, he began to talk, "Hey Esen. We don't mean to offend you or nothing, but think about it in our perspective. Ji-Yeon got up early this morning to bake a stranger, that being you, muffins. Then, she came to cheer you up. Since when was the gift of giving a bad thing?" Sung-Jun frowned a bit, crossing his arms. "I don't know what we did, but I'll apologize for both of us." Wow, he deserved a sticker. But still, why were THEY apologizing? It was Esen that should be doing it! "Wait a second!" This time, one look from Sung-Jun silenced her.

"I don't think you just angered me." Given the fact that Esen had an issue with people being rude, her voice gained the same mockery that Ji-Yeon had used toward her. However, Esen could have used either decorum or a reality check. There was none of either as she continued. "You think that everyone is able to eat the SAME THINGS. Maybe if it was another patient-"
"Uh... I don't know why they had no chart on her, since I have now just remembered-"
"-they could gladly take it with no problems, but y'know-"
An embarrassed, though not surprised, Rica was trying to speak over her daughter, whose volume was going up at a gradual pace. "-she's Celiac. Nothing with gluten."
"-not EVERYONE CAN, FOR GOD'S ******** SAKE!"
Esen, who was a cross between atheist and agnostic in terms of worship, had done something that one should not do in front of a devout Christian. You do not put God's name in vain. One also really shouldn't use such profane words in the same sentence as the word 'God' in a Christian sense.
This was going to sound good for people in the nearby vicinity.

This time, no one would be able to stop Ji-Yeon's fury, even Sung-Jun. "Is that so? I could honestly care less. If it was that IMPORTANT, you should've stated that from the start. Alert the nurses to notify the volunteers of your 'condition'." Ji-Yeon spat, putting air quotation marks around the last word.
Then, smiling politely back at Rica, she replied, "I see, forgive me for that error then." To the mother, she was sincere in her kindness, but to that unbearable girl named Esen, Ji-Yeon was sincere in her hate. Her jaw dropped open when the girl dared to use, profanity and GOD, in the same sentence.
"Are you serious? You seriously using those two words in the same sentence? No wonder you're so screwed up, karma's a pain in the a**." she scowled. She might as well have stuck up her middle finger up, but neither God nor Sung-Jun would approve. Speaking of, he made his entrance once again. "Ladies, ladies, ladies. Calm down! It's holiday season! I understand we're all at edge, but please, make peace not war." he spoke in a gentle tone. That was ironic, coming from the boy who got into fights every day. It only worsened Ji-Yeon's mood.
"I mean, who do you think you are?" she continued. "I bet you're a damn Crystal girl," Ji-Yeon muttered, instantly regretting it.

"It's al-" Rica stopped in mid-sentence, a frown growing. There was no use. Rica didn't know how to corral her daughter at this point; sometimes Esen had a maturity rivaling that of some adults, and other times - like right now - a temper that manifested in worse, and unfortunately, more memorable, ways than a two-year-old's tantrum. If she could get away with yelling above her daughter in a place like this, she would have, but she had no way to do so without making a fool of herself - now, though, her daughter calmed a little in volume, and the next words Esen spoke were in defense of herself instead.
"Well, I can't say I go to Crystal, but I think awakening to stitches and scars that you don't know where the HECK they originated from could make anyone be angry in the end."
To be honest, Esen was getting sick of it. She didn't KNOW where she was between the day after Christmas a year ago and the day before today. The same girl also had the habit, though, of trying to get the last word, and wanted Ji-Yeon to simply leave her room.
"Well, I was thinking of sending her there, but I'm not sure where she's been for a year."
Rica should have been on Esen's team. Instead she kicked the ball into the Saylors' goal instead of the Naes' goal and gave the Naes a point... more specifically, giving Ji-Yeon another weapon for her side of the argument.

Esen had a good point. Something like that happening and having no memory of it would've sent Ji-Yeon on edge for weeks. For a split second, pity, no sympathy pinged in her heart. In fact, she didn't even want to argue. She had come here to help, but what was she doing? Simply rubbing salt into a wound.
Esen did have some fault for throwing a fit without providing reason first; they might've been able to avoid the argument as a whole. However, Ji-Yeon had to admit to throwing oil into the fire. In fact, looking back at it, anger had temporarily taken control over any logic. Frowning at her actions, she lowered her head, and sincerely apologized, "I'm sorry, for everything I did." It was the least she could do. Stupid hormones, stupid mood swings!

Esen simply nodded. It was not a vigorous nod, or the nod of a wallflower. It was one sure nod. She had the last word, and was simply content. There was no words given, nor did joy or remorse show on her face. Her face simply went back to it's usual 'eh' look, and Esen dug deeper under the blanket, though not before letting her fist unball a little.
Rica sighed, both out of relief and in the sense of 'what am I going to do about this?' Putting on a bit of an unsure expression, Rica spoke.
"I'm sorry, you two. Esen tends to get like that when people offer such treats, seeing as it was only a few years ago that she found out." Afterward, she very quietly said "I think you two should go. I'm not sure if you have other visitors who might want muffins, but I'm sure that my daughter has... well, you saw." The older Saylor showed a bit of embarrassment. "I'll deal with her, you guys should have a nice day instead."
