*has a simple white apron on with small, light orange flowers printed on it, humming as she stirs something in a large pot, preparing the dinner for tonight*
*puts the lid on the pot and turns around, wiping her hands on her apron as she looks at the clock* I wonder when Perce will be getting home?

*Whooshes in with the combined clamor of a loud pop! and the flutter of his work cloak as his feet clap against the tile floor; clutching a cellphone to his ear, red-faced and furious* That's beside the point! I won't hear of it, I won't, this is absolutely unprofessional and biased! I've got numbers to prove it, cases that would make you double his salary and tripled his department's budget!

*smiles brightly* Speak of the devil! *glances back at the pot for a moment, and then turns to watch Percy, smiling slightly in amusement as she thinks of how cute he looks when he gets all red in the face, waving at him to say hello without distracting him too much from the phone call*

...Yes, well, we obviously don't see eye to eye on the subject! *Draws in a snarling breath* And if you think I'm going to sign my name on that proposal, you've completely lost your mind! I will not put the public in danger for a bloody vacation!
*Pause; screaming from the other end of the line*
...And a good evening to you. *Snaps the phone shut viciously and shoves it into the pocket of his slacks, a dribble of sweat lingering on his temple* And ******** you very much. *Grumbles, oblivious to his own childish remark as he drags a hand through his frizzed hair in an attempt to make himself presentable*
I - I'd thought that call would be completed before I left the office. *Glances sheepishly at his wife* Sorry, Audrey. *Steps forward to press a chaste kiss on the curve of her cheekbone*

*turns the stovetop down to a simmer, keeping the stew warm instead of continuing to cook it, and then turns back around to face Percy*

*His body grows tense as she begins to ase away, a flash of desperation in his upturned face as he draws her back against him; swallows hard* It's been.. a difficult day. They've asked me to nearly eliminate the Werewolf Liason's budget. You can imagine how damaging that would be to Ministry-werewolf relations, and to the care of the strays Calloway takes in... *Sighs softly, releasing her and dropping into a chair by the table* I won't do it, of course.

*gives him a reassuring squeeze before he moves away to sit down, frowning slightly* I don't see why that would benefit anyone . . . *turns around and takes the lid off the pot, taking her stirring spoon to get a small taste before adding in a dash of pepper* But I suppose that money is tight nowadays. I'm glad you have the courage to stand against it, Percy . . . they really do put too much on your plate, in my opinion. *puts the lid back on the pot and turns back around to face him, smiling* How was your day otherwise?

*Chuckles* Budget cuts benefit anyone who wants the Ministry to pay for their extravagant vacations. I won't let it pass, of course. Claire's son is just starting to come around to working with the department, it would be disastrous to limit its influences now when we're so close to cooperation.
*Turns a light, pleased shade of pink at the compliment* Yes. Well. Someone has got to do it, you know.
*Rubs at a slight peppering of stubble appearing on his chin* Oh, I suppose it was fine by most standards. Someone flooded the third floor by clogging up the entire bathroom... you can imagine the quality and content of the water we had to get through to get to our departments. *Chuckles* I'm sure my brothers would have loved to see me wading through it.

So, Percy . . . *unties her apron and sets it on the counter near the stove, walking towards him and lightly sitting on his lap, putting her arms loosely around him* You've had a long day, and we've got a bit of time to ourselves . . . *leans in to whisper into his ear* And I've been thinking about you all day. *blushes slightly*

*Blushes a deeper shade of crimson, looking lost and flustered at the sudden change of subject* O-oh? *Swallows, momentarily caught off-guard by the proposal* Well, I - we've - we'll just have to take advantage of that, won't we? *Appears to gather himself from his awkward stupor, adjusting his position to seat her more firmly on his lap, sliding a hand to press over the small of her back in order to hold her still* Is that so?
