A big grey creature with strange pink and purple markings covering his body was resting under a big tree. The sun was going down witch made things much easier. During the daytime things where just so hot you could barley do anything. Arachne was usually the one hunting since Raj couldn't do much with his eyes..
The truth was that he was blind. Not completly but only his right eye could tell colors at a close distance that was it.
And lionesses where created to hunt anyway but he still felt weak. What male lion would just lay under a tree and not be able to get himself food or protect the ones he loved. What if something happend to Arachne out there. No that was something that he didn't want to think about.
So Raj continued to stay at the spot he was at and just wait..

Kiri'ua was creeping low in the Savannah grass. She was stalking a small rodent about to have an early evening snack. It was around this time everyday she had a small snack. Then again, leading the rogue life had her having more snacks then meals, but those were the breaks. When you didn't elect a pride to call your own, you had to get out there and do it yourself. Kiri was ok with that.
She was about to spring on that little critter when it sensed her and ran off. She went to give chase until she ducked behind a big tree to try and gain more cover in hopes of making the little thing think it was safe.
She realized someone else was there. She stepped back softly. "I'm.. so sorry. I didn't realize someone else was hunting here..." She stopped to leave, but then she turned to look back. Getting a better look in the shadows, she realized someone was laying down.

Raj heard something coming his way but he stayed in his position anyway. It might be Arachne afterall but he didn't think she would be back so soon. He sniffed a little bit to pick up the scent from the other creature and it did smell like a lion indeed but it wasn't Arachne's scent.
When the other lion spoke he just gave her a small grin and said..
" Heh it's ok lady. My friend is away and does the hunting i am just laying here and trying to get the time to pass "
Well that was the truth since being a big male and almost blind didn't help him that much.
" Did you get your pray? "
He asked her with a soft tone in his voice.

Kiri kept an eye out on her prey that was still quietly drinking. The animal had noticed something, but with the lack of movement on Kiri's part. It disregarded the feeling of alert and kept drinking.
Kiri turned to look at his face briefly. She noticed his pale eyes. She hadn't seen this before and found it a curiosity. Though she wanted badly to ask about it; she didn't want to be rude. She just answered his question as she crouched in the grass and spoke softly, "No. Not yet. It's down there. It's drinking. I'll be right back."
Then, she took off to get that snack, leaving this new acquaintence alone for a few moments. The take down was quick and easy. At night, with noone to help it. It was one of the easier kills a lion could ask for. When she was through, she dragged it back to the three. Perhaps this person out here would like to have some.

Raj perked his ears forward so that he could listen. Hm it seemed like she lioness wasn't finished hunting afterall so he stayed quite until she was finished. He listend to the lioness coming closer towards him and apparently she had succeded with her hunt since he smelled fresh blood..
" Congrats! it seems like you cought your pray "
He said and moved his head into the direction that he tought the lioness was at. He also used his nose to pick up her scent and the scent from the fresh blood that would help him to get an more exact location on where she was.
" My name is Raj.. "
He said softly.

"Greetings, stranger named Raj. I am Kiri'ua, but you can just call me Kiri."
She smiled and laid the carcass on the ground as she used her teeth and claws to open it. "Would you care for some of this? I'd feel terrible to eat in front of you. While I just don't seem to fit well into prides, I can still respect the usual of offering to a male present first."
She smiled and noticed his eyes again. She tried to remember as a child seeing an elder from where she was born with eyes like those. Did this make him a wise elder? She wasn't sure.

" Nice to meet you Kiri~~ "
Well she seemed to be a like a nice lioness even tough he didn't know her. When she offerd him to eat some he didn't know what to answer at first since his friend was out hunting right now. He felt quilty for not helping his friend and he would feel stupid if he ate from this females food as well. She was the one that killed her prey so she would be the one eating it.
" It is your prey it wouldn't feel right eating from it "
He said and gave her a weak smile. He could only smell the fresh meat and he was indeed hungry but he could wait a little while longer until Arachne came back.

Kiri sat and chewed on her meal. She still felt bad and awkward to eat, but if she didn't eat right away. The meat would go bad and smell rancid in an hour or two. She certainly wouldn't like the discomfort in her bowels that air warmed meat.
She bent her face into the side of the rodent to nibble on it. Her eyes looked over this one. His purple reminding her of pelts she had seen long ago. It made her memories drift to fun times as a youngster she'd go around with her sister.
"So, if it's ok to ask.. What's your story? Raj... You belong to a pride? To a family?"

He looked at Kiri when she asked him his story. Well he indeed had one like all animals but he didn't know how much he should tell a stranger. But it was just a female lion so he tought why not it was not like he had to tell her all the details..
" Well my mother didn't want me when i was a cub...but if she wouldn't have left me then i would never have met Arachne...she is my best friend and companion "
He said with a smile.
" I guess she is my family but i don't belong to a pride...how about you? "

Kiri listened intently to his recount. Every line gave her heart empathetic tugs. When he was finished, she felt on the brink of weeping. How tragic! Yet, how amazing this Arachne person must be to him.
"Did your mother not want you because of your eyes? They are eyes I've never seen before. Some lionesses will kill their young if they think there's something wrong with them. Maybe your mother was torn between doing that and just leaving you. Like.. part of her couldn't go through with killing her child. Yet, she couldn't keep you if she didn't wanna be ridiculed by her family."
She hoped she wasn't overstepping her boundaries with those sorts of comments. She then answered his question as well. "Well, I used to belong to a pride as a child. I ran away from there when I was very young. I think I was hardly turning into a juvenile then. I was born to a family of nobles. Our pride continued to accept and allow canines into our pride. I just couldn't stand it, but I was too little to have an opinion of any importance."
She sighed. This was a topic heavy in her heart. She was always thinking about this. She obsessed over it when there was nothign else to do. This happened often since she couldn't find anyone to hang around with for any consistent amount of time.
"Raj, I do miss them. My family. I always hope and pray in my heart that my parents will not have hated me for leaving. I feel so lonely and isolated out here. Sure, I don't have to be bothered with any canines. Still, I guess I was a fool. I traded something of great worth for something pety and worthless."

Well Raj was sure that this female wouldn't attack him or anything he was still bigger then her and he could fight even if he was blind so telling her about his condition wouldn't cause him trouble.
" I guess you are right...i am born blind but i can see colors on my right eye but only on a close distance "
Without Arachne to help him he would have died or atleast not live as long as he had done now. He listend to her story as well somehow her past was still hard for her...Raj had let it ago a long time ago.
" Sometimes living in the present is better then thinking about how your family is doing. If you don't want to return then just keep those memories of that loving family you once had i am sure it will make you happier then thinking about if your parents are mad at you. Maybe you wouldn't have stayed anyway that you don't know. "
Raj had been talking a lot...more then he used to.

Kiri smiled at him. "Oh, yeah. I guess you're right. That sounds very wise." She thought maybe then that discussions of one's past aren't the best to have as an icebreaker with lions she knew nothing of. She'd have to remember this for the future. Though any lions she met in the roguelands were always curious as to each other's origins. Then again, the curiosity just might be the feline in them.
Kiri then cheered up a bit. "Well, I bet this Arachne is some awesome lady! She must be someone of tremendous kindness and a loving heart. Do you think that you two will have cubs one day? and... sort of create the family neither of you belong to yet?" Kiri always felt so interested in families with children.

Raj nodded but when Kiri started to talk about when him and Arachne would have cubs his eyes got a little bigger. Raj still saw Arachne has a companion and friend even if he knew somewhere deep inside that she was very special to him he couldn't help but to look surprised when the female asked him..
" Um well...i don't think Arachne likes me in that way "
It actually didn't sound so nice saying that out loud since he actually hoped that she cared more about him then just a friend. But maybe that was the truth and the truth hurt sometimes.

Kiri blushed rather sheepishly. Oops! She just had to open her big mouth. She hurriedly tried to do a little damage control... or distraction.
"Oh. I see. I am sorry. That certainly isn't my business. It is nice to find lions in the wild who can be like a surrogate brother or sister. It makes us feel like we have family even if our own family aren't with us. Gives us a sense of belonging... or wanted.. and that's always nice. Not sure I could say the same out here in the roguelands. I'm pretty sure if I were to die out here; noone would have known who i was or cared I was gone."

Brother or sister...that even sounded worse atleast in Raj's ears. He didn't want to be Arachne's brother at all and he had the opposite feelings of a brother for her. Maybe he should tell her soon or something because all this talk about their relashionship made him feel a little bit annoyed.
" The last thing i want to be is her brother...maybe i should tell her what i feel about her instead of sitting here "
He gave the lioness a smile.
"I am sure someone will miss you...if not your family then i am sure you will find someone that will care about your really soon "
