yay!a new avatar to summon!.... i wonder how hard is it to get him though....since the update was today... hopefully it isn't like fenrir... because i will not be able to get in for like forever lol.

EDIT: no! it is hard to get him lol i don't even think people will allow a level 53 BLM into a pt! even though i beat Garuda as that level... and someone mentioned 3-5 CoP missions to battle {/cry}

The quest to obtain an avatar long awaited by summoners will soon be available. The terrestrial avatar Diabolos made his first appearance in "Darkness Named," and now those able to defeat him at the height of his strength will learn to harness the power of dreams.

The Blood Pact abilities of Diabolos are quite unique when compared to those of other avatars. We have provided a list of Diabolos's abilities with brief explanations; however, we would like to allow summoners the chance to discover the full scope of these powers on their own.

-Diabolos's Blood Pact Abilities

Camisado: Deals physical damage.
Somnolence: Weighs target down.
Nightmare: Deals darkness elemental damage that puts all enemies within the area of effect to sleep and gradually reduces their HP.
Ultimate Terror: Decreases attributes of enemies within area of effect.
Noctoshield: Gives party members within area of effect the effect of "Phalanx."
Dream Shroud: Enhances magic attack and magic defense of party members within area of effect.
Nether Blast: Delivers a ranged attack that deals darkness elemental damage.
Ruinous Omen (Astral Flow): Required MP: Caster's level x2. Uses all MP and reduces the HP of enemies within area of effect by a random percentage.

I find it hard to believe that people will be called noobs for not having him. It's gonna be hard to get him. I bet something like you have to beat him in the Promy's, then after, you'll meet him and he'll remember you and you fight him as a Fenrir-style battle, only he'll be a whole lot harder.

From what I heard from my LS when doing the fight...
1) Pretty crowded at the moment.
2) Even 75s are having a struggle with the fight.
3) Make sure you have poison potions to counter his Sleepga if he doesn't use Nightmare.
4) So far, the manaburn style with maybe a SAM to open up a self Light to MB off of to kill it faster is the effecient way so far but some have been able to take it with a standard PT setup yet manaburn with 4 BLMs and a SAM is the fastest and safest in a way.

That's pretty much all I remember from what the people in my LS said when getting him. Perpetuation cost on him is pretty high like Fenrir I think even with full -perpetuation cost gear and etc.

But yeah...The CoP part is sort of a pain with the Promyvion - Holla, Dem, and Mea, Phomatium (sp?) Aquaducts (sp?), and Riverne Site #A01 in a way. Now the Diabolos prep work, though...Mainly with the chips...Is a pain >.> But if you think about it, it's pretty easy if the group(s) are well organzied and can handle it effeciently.

I just got back from the game for the night, my friends did Diablos and they got the avi. But they said Poison potions don't work, you need a good Stunner to Stun him before he uses Nightmare, or else you'll die. They told me they wiped because of Nightmare and the use of Poison potions.

Diabolos is a darkness type, but of the dream variety. (Vial of dream essence)

His Nightmare is EXTREMELY powerful but has anyone tried sleeping him? He is the dream type. I sleeped the avatar ALOT in ballista. (BTW Nightmare's a b***h in Ballista)

Also about the phalanxga, I don't think it's as potent as the rdm onry version because it would depend on enhanceing magic of the smn >.> (I think)

anyways! /cough

He cannot be silenced, he cannot be slept. Nightmare sucks if you get hit with it but if you stand in the right positions it won't land on the mages at least.

V and # are safe blocks for mages, V is out of nightmare range, # is not.

Melee stand on OO.

My party setup for the fight I won with was:

75rdm/37drk (me)
75blm/37whm
75blm/37rdm
75blm/37smn
75pld/37war
75whm/37blm

We stunned nightmare, taking turns due to the recast timer on stun spell, and the blms did light nuking. I gravitied, dia'd and paralyzed him, the blms shock, choke, and burn'd him. When his HP was at 50% I popped chainspell and began my stun gun routine and the blms opened fire with thundaga III and ancient magic (of the light element kind).

Poison potions do NOT work on nightmare, HOWEVER they do work against his Sleepga II.

Do NOT try to fight Diabolos when the weather is dark OR when it is dark element. I fought him on lights day and he was extremely weak.

don't leech, yes he IS hard, if you leeched, I'd say bare minimum would be 60s mage... but even then, you need to pull your own weight, unless you pay a manaburn party to do it. gonk

this is another reason thats driving my urge to quite the game and get CoV.
People dont like summoners without diablos.
And its hard to be a summoner and get a party to lvl up to get diablos
and no one in my linkshell wants to do promys coz they all did it while i was studying for exams! They are such selfish people they all like "well i dont need to do promy so im not going to help u do it" or they make up lame excuses like the whm said "i cant get there because... im stuck in bastok" when they can use the teleport spells =.=
so im stuck =.=
