Not that you're probably much interested, but I'm amazingly happy about it so I have to tell you anyway. It's a onea these http://www.kalaukulele.com/KA-KC.htm (my camera is back at uni), is an absolute dream compared to the toy one I've been playing, and was a bargain, as well.
I am happyyyyyyyyyy. biggrin

I'm actually quite interested in the ukelele. My mother and friends seem to think my voice suits easy-listening style stuff like Jason Mraz and NeverShoutNever, so I figure I should give it a shot. Any tips for it in case I pick one up?

It is really such an easy instrument to pick up, I doubt you'll need tips. Though, as a warning, it has completely ******** up what little ability I had for the guitar, what with getting used to a bunch of different chord shapes at a totally different scale. You'll probably have to work at it a bit at first to before it becomes natural to switch between the two (being a miserable attempt at a guitarist, I never bothered).
But disregarding that, the moment I bought one I fell for it. I only bought one in order to muck about with a fretted instrument that might suit my miniscule hands, but they're such charming little instruments that it's hard not to love them. Also, they're very portable - I mean, you can carry a guitar around on your back, but you wouldn't want to be doing it all day - a soprano ukulele you barely even notice.
If you ever go looking for one of the little cheap-and-cheery toy ones you get everywhere, I'd suggest a Makala brand one. Not that I exactly have a lot of experience on the matter, but a friend of mine has a little kiddie Makala ukulele, which is surprisingly playable (and nice on the ears) for something she bought for £20 off the internet, and people more knowledgeable than I always seem to be recommending them. Certainly blows my toy uke out of the water.

I've wanted a ukulele ever since I saw this video. How could anyone not want to play it after seeing that? biggrin I wanted to buy a ukulele last year (worth about 50-60 US$) but ran out of money. I've got some now though... might be time to join the revolution.

Blind Melon got me into ukulele. I believe it's one of the most beautiful sounding instruments ever created. Good job getting one.

I like that there are people who take it as serious as a guitar instrumentally. It gives me hope for "novelty" instruments like the uke. I'm going to learn This by this time next year. Fersure.

There's always someone, somewhere who can blow our concepts of some instrument being 'lesser' than another right out of the water.
I remember when I was a kid I thought you couldn't play real songs on the piano. That's kinda weird, isn't it? Then again, I did grow up in the 90s, where popular music wasn't done on instruments.

No, I don't think any of us do mind. I've been wanting to learn uke but haven't gotten around to it. I think i should probably work on getting better at the rest of my instruments first, but mehhhh. You should totally put up some videos of it when you can though.
I've always wanted to hear a song with just uke and mando. I think that would be such a great combination, but i've never heard it.

I'm at uni, I don't even have a CD player. Best I've got is a mic from the pound shop I bought for skype. Can record things perfectly audibly, but not to the point of being worth the effort of recording them.
